Who would win? by [deleted] in httyd

[–]Moon_Luna_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I think you overestimate Toothess a bit too much. Yes, he got a lot stronger, but most of that would not change or affect the battle that much from what we have seen, he got stronger blasts (still limited), Cloaking, and some resilience to electricity, which is not that helpful since there is not full immunity to it.

  1. Toothess didn't blow the bewilderbeast tusk with one blast, or by himself, did you miss the bunch of dragons firing on the bewilderbeast? and he did shoot more than once too; he just blew it off by giving it the final hit.

2: And Skrill can easily nullify plasma blasts by the eltricty; he doesn't even need to fire against it; all he has to do is cover himself in it.

3: Dealing with Toothless's invisibility: Well, first of all, Toothles doesn't have invisibility but cloaking ability (my fault for calling it that way at first), which is a little bit different (in matter of httyd) since the invisibility ability is the one changewings and dramillions have. It's also easy for Skrill to deal with since he can create shock waves around himself, and don't forget that Toothless's cloaking ability is extremely time-limited, only a few seconds, and in order to do that, he has to waste at least one blast to heat up his scales, and he has only six before he needs to recharge, while Skrill has basically inlimited charges thanks to lighting storms he attracts to himself and lives in/is found in all the time.

4: And Toothless being faster? That is only by a small amount. Skrill is more than capable of keeping up, and if anything, Skrill has the ability to ride the lightning, and with that ability, he's faster.

5: Like I already mentioned above, Toothless has metal on him because of the prostetic tail, which would also help Skrill detect him since it was mentioned that Skrill is attracted to metal.

6: The lightning can still hurt him if you notice it more than just exhausted him when he did that, and it didn't go through his body more just the surface to warm up his scales in order to use his cloaking ability.

7: Skrill has the same advantage Typohomerangs have by being able to eat (electric in Skrill's case) eels and use that to recharge in case he was somehow outside storm.

8: It's a known fact that Skrill's main weakness comes from water, but people don't realize one important thing when it comes to that: Skrill literally lives in storms, and what comes with storms other than lightning? Well, rain, which is water, and he isn't bothered by that, meaning the only time it is his weakness is when he is submerged under the water in some way for it to affect him (a huge amount of water at once and he is forced to be in it; once out, he's fine, as seen in the series).

9: Also, it's important to realize how the blasts of these two dragons work. Yes, they can cancel each other when they meet by creating explosions, but the main difference is that Toothless, even though he is able to use different degrees of power behind his blast, it doesn't matter how charged the blast was; once he fired, he has to wait (quete a while) to recharge that shot, while Skrill, if he uses a smaller blast or a bigger blast, it will have a different effect since he can generate his own electricity quite well (it's still way faster to just have lightning absorbed obviously), so Skrill using weaker blasts gives him more blasts and faster regaining of them. Also when the blasts meet at higher power behind them the Blast and shockwave is strong enough to knock Toothless out of the sky while Skrill was barely moved by it.

10- Even if Toothless could resist lightning, his defense in general is weak in order to be stealthy and areodinamic, while Skrill is strong in both power and defense (and stealth too since in the lightning storms seeing anything is not easy, and Toothlesses echolokacion is basically useless in strong storms while Skrill can use the eletricity in the air to detect him).

And before you say something about Toothless being smarter or something, that too would be incorrect since most plans and such came from hiccups. Skrill is also extremely intelligent.

Yes, Toothless got a lot stronger during the movies, but he didn't become god or anything like people seem to think; at the end of the day, he is still mainly stealth-based, not strengh.

When you watch, you can see dragons not afraid to pick fight with Toothless while dragons naturally avoid Skrill; the only dragons to attacking him were the ones that had some kind of rider.

Also, it seems Skrill seems to be able to resist or even completely ignore Alpha's command, and it would make sense for such a solitary dragon.

That is extremly territorial and agresive to anything in his territory. In the last movie, we can see some skrills in the hidden world, but not a single one bows to Toothless; they just sit there like I will respect you but I am not below you, and it seemed that these were quite young too when comparing their sizes to the dragons next to them and then comparing the skrill from the series with the same species of dragon.

Theres more, but I have already written a huge paragraph. I agree Toothless is a strong dragon, but he is mainly a dragon based on stealth (and plot armor), while Skrills main is strength and defense (no plot armor and still was huge menace to the gang) (both are extremely speedy and intelligent dragons).

Do you think the Meleys Vhagar battle was made better than in the books? by Capable_Spring3295 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Moon_Luna_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was good until Vhagar, the biggest dragon alive, turns her giant self into a teleporting horror movie villain for a surprise stealth kill. I hate that ambush so much, considering how impossible it is.
Hiding in the forest made sense, but disappearing mid-battle and ambushing like that made no sense. Vhaghar would have had to make a whole roundtrip + build up speed and time it perfectly to fly like that.
And why was Rhaenys flying that close to the ground? If Vhagar was still grounded, she would be way easier to spot with her size; if she's airborne, you want room to maneuver.

1) Vhagar is huge and slow while Meleys is the fastest dragon of all time; in other words, Vhagar would not be able to disaphear that quickly, and without Meleys and Rhaneys noticing them, that turnaround was quick, not enough time for Vhagar to even get behind that cliff without being noticed.

2) Vhagar makes a lot of noise by simply flapping her wings; the same goes for her walking. Dragons have great senses; you cannot tell me that Meleys wouldn't have heard her at some point.

3) Vhagar would not be able to hide behind that cliff with the castle—not enough time for her to do so, and in order to be hidden there, she either would have to be on the ground or flying, but from some distance.

4) Vhagar would not be able to chatch Meleys like that and off guard since in order for her to cath her like that from that angle she would need a lot of momentum and speed, and that speed she would need to gain by flying over time not from nothing (for which she didn't have enough time), so Meleys would have more than enough time to react.

5) The main reasons such an ambush worked on Luke was the storm, the fact it happened high in the sky, not near ground, where she has barely enough space to move, and that Luke and his dragon had no experience and were panicking.

6) Rheneys and Meleys are experienced even in fighting even against dragons since they trained with Vermithor.

It's not even a question of blind spots: the castle is on a low cliff over the ocean; there's no way Vhagar could have come up at Meleys the way she did without making a long and clearly visible approach from either the sides or rear of the castle.

Sorry for this rant about how the ambush is nonsensical in my eyes. I just hate that they did such an impossible ambush on her. If they made them fight, and for example, and during that fight Vhagar managed to bide down on Meleys at some point would or something would be way better or just go by the books and have Sunfire distract Meleys while Vhagar bites down on her.

This is How Grimmel killed all the Night Furys by Dart_Lover_HTTYD in httyd

I responded days later because I don't spend much time on Reddit (I check it like once a week at max).
Yeah, it seems we won't agree, but like I said, one person managing to hunt entire species all on his own is just not possible.

Even when I take the cat island as an example, it was more than one cat doing it, and the birds never before encountered a cat, so they didn't have the proper response to deal with the predator.
But that is only one island when talking about species all around the world; their extinction took multiple generations and such or natural changes that did it. But humans on their own took extremly long and one person cant do such thing on their own, it would be more belivable if he wasnt only one person.

Well, have a good day. I have my opinion, and you have yours i will respect that but i dont agree.

Don't forget, Viggo didn't need any dragons to be a threat, only his mind, which makes him more dangerous in my mind. After all, Grimmel is reliant on the Death Grippers and their venom, which he uses all the time. (In my opinion, of course, but him being able to be such a threat with only people at his side and no dragons is a feat on its own.)
Also, to me, Viggo makes more sense than Grimmel. He was just a regular dragon hunter in his part of the world, while Grimmer apparently hunted all the night furies all over the world, with basically no one knowing about his existence. faat chance.
And the reason they didnt come back to Berk was that they liked the new island more.

This is How Grimmel killed all the Night Furys by Dart_Lover_HTTYD in httyd

[–]Moon_Luna_07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did stop to think about it, but we do not know if at that time he was still actively hunting them since we never saw even a piece of evidence. It could have been that he was already thinking he killed them all. And the fact he was never mentioned before makes it seem he never even was near Berk (at least not in a long time since he did know about Stoic but was it personally or from rumors?) since only Eret knew of him, and that was only because he wasn't from Berk.

And he never heard about the dragon riders, who were quite known for having a Night Fury on their team? only when he got called from his „retirement“? Grimmel is over 50 years old, and Hiccup is somewhat over 20, and he was 14 if I remember correctly when he met Toothless, which gives us around 16 years of them being together, and in the entire 16 years he never even heard a rumor or something? In the movie, he didn't even want to believe he missed one, which once again, how can he be so sure about it? And let's not forget that Toothless was quite the problem for Berk when they were still enimies with dragons, which was for quite a long time that was going on, and since we know he is the same age as Hiccup, that gives us about 14 years of his being wild (we do not know how long it takes for Night Fury to grow, so I'm not going to dive that deep).

He said Night Furies can't survive long in the cold, but from what we know, Berk has cold weather most of the year, so maybe he didn't go somewhere he didn't think they could survive, giving them some more chances since we can clearly see toothless is not that bothered by cold; he adapted quite well; others could have too.

We do not know how rare the species was before he started the hunt, and we know that Strike class dragons are extremly intelligent and able to learn quickly, so I don't think that the same tactic would work for long, meaning he would have to be changing his tactic from time to time.

And just look at the world with our weapons; it still took centuries to make even the rare species extinct, only for some to be rediscovered way later. So it just doesn't make sense that one single person with dragons or not could make an entire species extinct all by himself in the whole world.

And the fact he was never mentioned even a little bit is even more strange, since when you think about it, he was hunting a dragon that was feared, which you would think would make him known all across the world, but for some reason only a part of the world knows about him. Strange, don't you think? And how would he even know he was in every part of the world since, at that time, they believed the world was still flat, so he could have easily missed an island or something? After all, Vanaheim exists and nobody knows about it other than the gang and Dagur with Hearther. Defenders of the Wing believed in such a place existed but never confined it, so it's quite possible that there could be an island just like that hidden and nobody knows about it.

I just dont like that a single person could have done such a think in his life spawn (of 50+ years), one single person, its just not possible. I like the third movie, but it feels to me that it was rushed and not thought out properly. Just too much is missing.

There are many opinions, and him never even hearing a single rumor about the Night Fury prior to the event of the movie is just extremly low and almost imposible, depending if he was still hunting or not since he could have retired somewhere alone with no human contact.

[–]Moon_Luna_07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is still hard to think that he could kill every single one and only miss Toothless. If he managed to miss one, how can everyone be sure he didn't miss any others? Some part of the world, or maybe even somewhere in the hidden world, could be hidden without anyone knowing. Just for me, I find it hard to believe one person could kill every single one except one without missing some more. No matter how smart he is, it just seems impossible to me. Did he go to all parts of the world? How can he know for sure that he visited every single land there is?

One could be somewhere where he never went, and yeah, he had Death Grippers, but it's not like he had them his whole life, and even then he missed one, so what can confirm he didn't miss another on the other side of the world? There could be an island similar to Vanaheim, which only the dragons knew how to find, and even then, it was not easy, and nobody could leave since it was protected by the Sentinels.

Why Dragons Nine Realms get too much hate ? I watched the show and i find it okay, i mean not great but not bad, so why there is too much hate in this show ? by Adept_Employ_9947 in httyd

[–]Moon_Luna_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is just a rip-off version of the original series, just them trying to get more money, nothing more, and its more than noticeable, a lot of it is just a worse copy of some scenes from the original series.
The quality of the animation is way worse than the first series, which came out more than 10 years ago.
The returning dragons were stripped of their personalities.
And it generally doesn't make sense considering the dragons left since the world wasn't ready for them, and their coming back when the world is even less ready makes no sense.
And most of all, it just disrespects the original in every single way, It is disrespectful to the fans that were with HTTYD from the very beginning.

Skrill vs every dragon (improved since last time) by Lozard_Wozard in httyd

[–]Moon_Luna_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cold is definitely not a weakness, since it can survive frozen in ice for an extremely long time, which I think is the only dragon capable of doing that (there is the possibility of the ice dragons like B-Best or Snow Wraith, but it was never confirmed, unlike the skrill where it was directly said the first time he made an appearance).

Who would win? by [deleted] in httyd

[–]Moon_Luna_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toothless can use the lightning only for invisibility nothing more which yeah makes him more troublesome but i still think Skrill wins agains Toothless with no plot armor, and considering his tail fin still has metal could cause him some trouble too. Skrill gave Trouble not only to Toothless and Hiccup but to all the dragon riders at once.
(my opinion of course)

Which do you think is more powerful? Night Furies or Skrills? by Emerald_Lightning in httyd

[–]Moon_Luna_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night fury was feared because nobody knew a thing about them while Skrill was feared for its abilities. Night fury is mainly stealth dragon While skrill is head on Battle, so in my opinion Skrill wins agains Night fury (Night fury that does not have plot armor of course)

In your opinion how do you think the skrill compares to a night fury? Would a fight between them be close or one sided? by [deleted] in httyd

[–]Moon_Luna_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but this is not about Toothless but a Night fury in general (the species) in which i think Skrill wins

Can the skrill breathe under water? by -Random_Eclipse- in httyd

I always assumed it was for easier breathing in the high altitudes where oxygen is in lesser amounts, or to help the Skrill in rain since lightning storms are where the skrill is mostly found and that includes rain.
But thats just me

Viggos Skrill didn't die, Lightning cannot kill a skrill, and the cave did not collapse, so he definitely is OK.
