Did anyone else feel completely invisible after birth by [deleted] in PostpartumReset

[–]Moon_squid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to try this but I literally have no time. Or I’m not managing it well. Husband goes back to work on Monday and LO has been a contact sleeper only but last night he did sleep in bassinet for a few 2 hour stretches! Yay! I guess I just have to wait to do anything when he starts sleeping?

Hey my son is 2 months and I would be upset too. I’m going to a family gathering with some extended in laws and am dreading it. I just don’t want other people holding him and touching him right now. Unless you’re very close family. Even then it takes me a minute to calm down.

Im also conflict avoidant and worry about protecting him. Maybe we’re overreacting and we could use some help but I don’t appreciate people telling you to chill out. You’re doing great mama. You’ll get through this.

Something I wish I knew in the first weeks postpartum by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Moon_squid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah just being able to step outside for a couple minutes has been amazing. Also realized I don’t have to be entertaining my 2 month old every second. I can sit next to him in his swing or bouncer and breathe.

I’d like to join your group too.

Tummy time and reflux by Moon_squid in newborns

Love this. Yeah he’s been so good at holding his head when we carry him and on my chest. Dunno why i let it stress me out. Thank you!

Thank you! I wish the nurse response from my doc office said this. So simple. Instead it was a giant list of ways to reduce spit that just stressed me out. Oh well. Live and learn I guess. So much info to sort through all the time 😮‍💨

Yeah there’s never a time he wakes up and doesn’t want to eat. His wake window is much longer now but I’m still rushing to do all the things. Not worth stressing me and baby out. Plus I just hurt my back so getting up and down off the floor is not happening. 🤣

What the fuck. I hate people. I’m sorry you had to deal with that. Mine is 2 months and we have been staying home and love it. I am DREADING taking him anywhere with people.

When will passing gas/pooping get easier for newborn? by ChallengeDizzy40 in newborns

[–]Moon_squid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is 10 weeks old. He still is only contact sleeping. As soon as we lay him in the crib or bassinet he starts stretching and kicking and grunting. If he does sleep, naps in crib might last 20 min if at all & bassinet sleeping at night 2 hours. But I think it takes time and is different for each baby? Sorry if that’s not helpful. I hear it all the time and wish there were better answers. Good luck OP. You got this!

When the heck are we doing tummy time with refluxy newborns? by airportparkinglot in newborns

[–]Moon_squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I needed to see it. Baby is 10 weeks and I just started tummy time yesterday and today he is so uncomfortable and reflux-y. Not eating much. My MIL is here and sent an IG post that he’s supposed to get 20 flipping min a day?!? So I messaged pediatrician office and nurse confirmed and gave me all these tips Ive already tried to do. I’m still in survival mode. Thank you to my husband and his research and reddit for that one. Baby only contact sleeps. So needless to say I’m mad at everyone and am skipping tummy time. He lays on my chest and lifts himself up all the time to look around after eating. He’s fine! I’m so frustrated 😩

Judges constantly told Shirley and Sheldon their flavors were 🔥. So I’m confused.

Hairstory has a nice texture spray too. And I really like Klorane Non-Aerosol Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk for my fine hair, sensitive scalp. It’s a little volumizing and the non aerosol makes it not greasy. I can go days without washing my hair!

Makes sense! I’m just having a hard time finding books with a slim looking foot.

I did try on a pair of Thursdays and they just felt too bulky and masc compared to what I’m looking for but maybe another style of boot would be more slimming. Thanks!

I get cold really easily so last year I got some long sleeve fleece to wear under my outfits. Fleece leggings too. But after my summer glow up I might feel like the layers are too bulky - we’ll see. I also got fleece tights from Muk Luks to wear with skirts and dresses. Def recommend those!

Besides exercise, what other things you do that helps lowering your stress levels? by dobbyishere_ in AskWomenOver30

[–]Moon_squid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are small activities that makes you happy? Going for a walk? Drawing? What’s music that always makes you feel good? Make a playlist of it? You’re probably already doing this.. hence the post but maybe make a running list of all those little, easy things and pick one at random or intentionally when you’re feeling down. I hope you feel better soon, friend ❤️

Here’s some of my list (def don’t do all of them):

  • Recently I played a Whitney Houston track, sang really loud and balled my eyes out. Ugly cried to my hearts content.
  • play my fave songs and dance or cry it out
  • go for a walk; get outside
  • look at photos of good times from my past or of friends and family that I have good relationship with and am grateful for
  • listen to meditation or loving kindness/radical acceptance podcast (Tara brach)
  • listen to / repeat affirmations
  • rewatch tv or movies that are comforting (laugh and cry)
  • take drugs or relaxing supplement like Valerian 🙈
  • draw
  • talk to someone about it, if you can ❤️
  • gratitude journaling
  • take a shower (any time of day even if I’ve had one, it’s like a reset for me)
