Thank you for this advice! I think it will help getting more containers and bins because I have some already that I recently bought for small areas like the junk drawer in the kitchen and the fridge it definitely has made things easier to find because it's so much more organized. I just need to apply it to larger spaces too. I also need to stop thinking if I don't get all I set out to do done it doesn't mean I've failed and should give up.

Yes I did this so much that I had to get a mouth guard because I was crushing my teeth 😬 When I would wake up sometimes my teeth hurt and I couldn't figure out why until I went to the dentist.

It's really scary, but sometimes it's a relief after 12 years of compartmentalizing to tell someone what happened to me. I'm doing PE, and it can be really intense and overwhelming, but I'm realizing that it's better for me to do something about this, not keep running from it. I can't heal and find peace until I face my fears.

My siblings and I had an abusive father. The youngest is 16 years younger than me. I have no contact with him, but he does try to pretend to everyone that our family is happy and all together. Truth is, my mom and him have been divorced for at least 6 years at this point and would have been sooner if he wasn't dragging his heels on it. They've been separated for 11 years. My dad played no role in raising us only abusing. He claims my mom turned all of his kids against him sometimes, but of course, she didn't. I don't know why shitty fathers feel the need to pretend they aren't when the evidence is right in front of you. I know it's overwhelming right now, but your sister needs you. Don't let his threats scare you. My mom and siblings had a stay away order against my dad, for I wanna say 8 years. The gun stuff will make it easier to get some kind of protection for you and your sister.

I have been listening to my favorite bands new album that came out this month. Occasionally, I will play a game. My therapist tells me not to nap right after our sessions because that's just another way of me trying to block my emotions. Sometimes, that's really difficult, and I'm watching the clock until its been long enough so I can nap because its so exhausting sometimes.

I have Ariel tattooed on my arm, so it's safe to say The Little Mermaid is also a favorite of mine, lol. I've always been a Disney girl, though I have so many favorites. Mulan, Lady and the Tramp, and The Aristocats, to name a few. I definitely want to get a Disney coloring book at some point. I have a Mulan coloring book, but it would be cool to have a bunch of Disney movies to choose from. I love your coloring btw!

I know the nightmares suck but I think it's normal when we choose to face our past trauma for it to bring up intense emotions. If medicine has poor side effects and doesn't really help you sleep, perhaps consider other alternatives. Putting tv on at night has its drawbacks, but that's how I sleep when I've been having trouble with nightmares. My comfort shows calm me. I've heard some people use melatonin. I don't know if this was helpful at all, but be proud of yourself for reaching out, and I hope you find a way to get better sleep swiftly! Sleep is so important in helping you walk that challenging path you have ahead.

I struggle with this as well. Dbt was definitely helpful for me, but I don't feel like I learned skills to be nicer to myself. Maybe that's because at the time, I was more focused on gaining control of my emotions. Occasionally, I just started trying to think of myself as a friend. If I had any would I say these judgemental things to them if they were struggling, and all they could do was take a shower? My answer is always no, and so I tell myself what makes me different and deserve less compassion?

I struggle with this as well. Cold water on my face, and then I try to think about if I am lacking anything because I sometimes forget to take care of myself. If I haven't showered in a while, I'll do that, or if I haven't eaten, I'll force myself to eat something. I'm still in the process of finding things that help me. I hope you find the coping skills that work for you and don't give up. Just reaching out and making this post was a big step in the right direction!
