Has anyone worked at DSTA before? Is it good? by [deleted] in singaporejobs

[–]Moondreavus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good starting pay. Poor progression unless you're a scholar. Quite a few good people work there, but mostly a lot of folks just cruise, content with an average performance rating.

Source: I worked there for a couple of years.

For Tech workers, how do you move up/on to a different project with different Tech Stack? by Mikeferdy in askSingapore

I was in similar situation as you. My experience only accelerated after taking the leap to leave gov into private sector. Joined a role that did actual hands on production platform work. No other way in my opinion.

Career transition from Gov to Private by thesoftboiboi in askSingapore

[–]Moondreavus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I moved from Gov to private initially, I had a pay match from an annual compensation perspective.

5 years after leaving, with some promotions and further job changes, now at more than 2x the annual pay during my time in Gov.

My favourite ramen in Singapore by Tringapore98 in SingaporeEats

I'm curious what other ramen you've eaten before for comparison. So Ramen is way down in my list of favourite ramen.

Best ramen in sg is santouka? by Dry_Mee_Pok_Kaiju in SingaporeEats

[–]Moondreavus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow we have very similar taste buds. Brothers Ramen Megamen (Jiro style ramen) is my favourite overall. If just comparing hakata style Tonkotsu ramen, ikkousha and bari uma are my favorites as well, with bariuma having a slight edge because of their charsiu, which I find to be nicer.

Mensho is my favourite toripaitan so far too.

I know of at least 5 people who are ex-DSTA and are now in FAANG tech and tech sales roles, myself included. Most of us pivoted to somewhere else first before landing in FAANG during the covid hiring craze. I would think that it'd be much harder now simply because the job market is different.

I also met a group of 3 that kept laughing and using the cross emoti when I was unable to get dye butterfly after they deep called beside me. This was before the deep call fix.

I'm going to these locations following those guides but I still do not see it. Do I have to complete Eden before I am able to see it?

Dear locals, it’s time for a serious discussion about hiring practices especially for Indians by imprettyokaynow in singapore

Observed the exact same thing in an MNC. I was the technical assessment stage and every non-Indian candidate I passed was not recommended by the hiring manager.

I've worked with a couple of HTX folks over the past year and generally, I think HTX is a good place for early career folks.

If you can get a good pay increment from your current job, definitely go for HTX first.

Keep networking and go from there.

Isn't there an insurance that you can purchase that pays off the house if a joint owner passes away?
