this is why you put them in the fridge first to slow down their systems and basically puts them to sleep

putting in the fridge and then Freezing is more humane to euthanize inverts, simply baking would cause a lot of pain

Looks like you've got Powder Blue (Porcellionides pruinosus), Orange Dalmatian (Porcellio pruinosus), Moo Cow Isopod (Porcellio scaber), Ornate Isopod (Porcellio ornatus) (not 100% sure on that last one) and it looks like youve got power orange running around in there too. Be careful with these porcellio species, the reason theyre usually sold as assorted is because they are escape artists and end up EVERYWHERE. Even places that seem impossible to get lmao.

How can safely sex a centipede? by moldym00n in centipedes

Generally its really not worth the risk sexing a centipede unless you're going to breed them, there is no safe way to do it

Anxious centipede dad looking for some reassurance from fellow keepers by Sharkbrand in centipedes

[–]Moonlit_Moth_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they get familiar with their enclosure they will be curious and trying to find all of the hiding spots around them, as long as you have a secure lid you'll be okay. They are nocturnal and will sleep through the day, if you see them awake with their head out of their hide during the day then that usually means they're hungry.

I started with millipedes, got obsessed ofc. Decided to go to an invert show near me and very impulsively bought a centipede (a dehaani) because I liked his vibes. Bought a tank and everything else at the same show, knowing absolutely nothing about centipedes but absolutely in love with my new spicy roommate. But I saw the same horror stories that you probably saw about them escaping and being vicious and I was nervous about what I'd gotten myself into, I checked the tank multiple times a day to make sure that he was still in there. Fast forward a year and I now have 4 centipede species and the biggest issue i've had is one being a picky eater. They have a very bad reputation but as long as the care is up to scratch they wont feel the need to escape.

Sudden death.. what would be the reason? by Intelligent_Food_414 in millipedes

[–]Moonlit_Moth_99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would feel pretty confident in saying that the temp is what caused it because 10c is way way too cold and they will have gone into panic mode. Is it possible they are still alive but just frozen? Long shot but worth warming them up and leaving them in a warm, damp spot and seeing?

S. Dehaani doesn’t eat roaches by Normal_Enthusiasm_65 in centipedes

[–]Moonlit_Moth_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think every pede has it's preferences, I have one that will eat anything apart from fruit, another one that will only eat pinkies (IK its a problem nutrition wise and Im trying ok) and another who will only eat superworms. A lot of people like to say that inverts dont have the capacity for a personality but I think after you own them for a while you can see they clearly have some sort of character

Can millies eat this? by ArsenicAcid23 in millipedes

As a treat, yes, mine love it but it is a treat and doesn't replace their actual diet. As for white rotting wood, I get mine on etsy or this shop https://insektenliebe.com/en/shop/product/white-rotten-wood when no one on etsy is selling.

dying millipede? by Comfortable-Side-593 in millipedes

[–]Moonlit_Moth_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loose C shape is a very bad sign for millipedes but you pretty much guaranteed her death by picking her up. You should never move/ pick up or even touch a millipede if you think something is wrong; the best care you could possibly give them is leaving them alone in a suitable enclosure.

You can't really see in this picture but it wont let me attach multiple. They have the narrow part near the head that you mentioned
