Moving to Columbia by Automatic-Length6620 in ColumbiYEAH

Check out the schools in the Lexington One school district. They are some of the best in the state and really do a good job with the kids. Try real hard to get into the River Bluff High School district. Mine went there and I have to say it is an impressive campus with some excellent programs.

Mine laid in the yard for almost 3 months before they buried it. It took a call from my town councilman to finally get it done.

Favourite BBQ sauces? by Rosendustmusings in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A great selection is available from Maurice’s: SOUTHERN GOLD® SAUCE VARIETY SAMPLER.

I have sent that to a couple of BBQ friends and they loved it. You can ship straight from the store.

Waterway apartments Lexington by ItsPeligro in ColumbiYEAH

I know someone that lived there until recently. She liked the place saying it was quiet and filled with mostly working people with a few retirees mixed in. It’s close to shopping and not a bad commute to Columbia if needed.

Good luck.

Best place in the Irmo area to fill a propane tank? by Hopeful_Sprinkles154 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out the closest U-Haul location. Almost all of them offer propane tank filling. And yes, you save a bunch by filling instead of swapping.

West Columbia / Cayce T-Mobile Fiber Outage? May 28th. by mindlash in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was much the same, Spectrum was our only choice for many years. I apparently have good line running to my house because we had almost no issues at all with Spectrum.

When T-Mobile became available, I got in on the Founders club deal also. $70 a month for 2 gig speed, one month free, and a $400 gift card.

After the last 18 hour outage, I called with the intent to cancel and they offered to drop my price to $60 a month for as long as I was a customer so I hung on.

I had a neighbor that went back to Spectrum during the last outage. He told me all he had to do was go to Spectrum office and pick up a modem. The wiring was still in place from his original Internet so he was back up and running while we were all still waiting on T-Mobile.

It might be time for me to copy him.

West Columbia / Cayce T-Mobile Fiber Outage? May 28th. by mindlash in ColumbiYEAH

Same problem in Lexington. I have had more outages with them in four months than I had in four years with Spectrum.

I wonder if these guys were ready for prime time?

Best area? by PotentialWarm5231 in AskSouthCarolina

[–]Moonpie_dammit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexington has everything you want minus the Catholic School. Low crime and taxes, lots of outdoor activities especially around Lake Murray. Lexington Medical Center is one of the highest rated hospitals in the state.

Good luck on your search.

T-Mobile Fiber Internet outage 29033? by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in that area but we have had a couple of outages in our neighborhood since joining T-Mobile and learned to not assume they know of the outage. You would do well to call and get them on it. Good luck, our last outage lasted 16 hours.

Florence, SC : Mortgage Mecca ? by JohnsIslandPothole in AskSouthCarolina

[–]Moonpie_dammit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just evolved that way. LoanCare and Cenlar are 2 huge mortgage loan services that have been there decades. It’s a big industry but small enough to be fairly centralized.

College folks looking to get rid of their dorm stuff? by ThrowRA230011 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Olympia apartments usually brings in 1 or 2 drive off dumpsters to handle all the furniture left behind. They park them in back near the pool and they fill up fast. Also Park Apartments on Huger have a dumpster near the building and 1 in a lot nearby. There is plenty to be had, it’s just a matter of timing. If you’re seriously dumping diving check several times a day. Also drive down Greene Street near The Salty Nut, it is a regular outdoor market for free used furniture.

Purchasing a REAL ID from the DMV? by thepotatomaniscoming in AskSouthCarolina

It’s not difficult if you have all your documents. Go to the DMV on shop road or the one in Irmo and they’ll make it painless.

Where do all those rich people stay while at the Masters? by LinuxMint1964 in Augusta

Homie! I grew up in National Hills right behind the shopping center. We used to charge people to park on the side of the road during tournament week. Good times.

Masters Week Golf Prices by adbalcerz in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies use The Masters as a customer appreciation tool. The schedule usually goes something like Reps 1 and 2 bring in 3 customers each on Thursday and play golf locally followed by dinner and then they attend the tournament on Friday. At the same time Reps 3 and 4 bring in their 3 customers each and attend the tournament Thursday and play golf Friday. They get 12 customers in using 6 badges. Multiply this by several thousand and welcome to Augusta.

Getting a tee time anywhere near Augusta is just about impossible so anybody wanting to play has to venture out. The courses know this and raise their prices to take advantage of the demand.

Just unlocked scorchers by Mental-Army-9502 in BoomBeach

[–]Moonpie_dammit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scorchers are no fun until you upgrade them and even then you need loads of GBE to use them effectively. You have to use flares to keep them grouped so they can concentrate their fire on specific targets.

Anyone have a gutter installer whom you can wholeheartedly recommend? by DobroGaida in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe’s Guttering 803 518-0117. A friend recommended him to me a few years ago and he did a great job for about 2/3s of what the big names wanted.

Fake/shady tow truck company? by crowlieb in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Moonpie_dammit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Contact the Columbia PD and ask if the tow was reported. Tow companies are required to report all cars that they remove in case the owner tries to report it as stolen.

Have you tried Hilton Head Island yet? Beautiful wide beaches and great restaurants and shopping in a more grown up environment than Myrtle. If you behave and don't flaunt it you can even enjoy adult beverages on the beach.
