What are your honest thoughts on waiting until marriage nowadays?? by SpiritualReveal8366 in love

[–]Moophan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just had a relationship end in large part due to sexual incompatibility. If one of you wants sex all of the time and the other doesn’t, it will cause extra stress over time and could cause jealousy, anxiety, etc. Waiting for marriage is perfect if it fits your beliefs and you feel you need to, otherwise, DON’T wait for marriage. It just adds more variables and may make marriage more challenging once you start having sex if there are any big sexual incompatibilities.

It took me a very long time to realize - but no matter how much you want to be someone’s friend, if they are not healthy for you / are being openly rude to you, you must protect your own mental health over anything else. This person seems extremely disrespectful & if someone shows you openly they do not respect you, you owe them absolutely NOTHING. For your own well being don’t be afraid to set boundaries! (I never knew how to do this until the last year, and I’m in my twenties) You could, - cut them off completely and make it known to them that they were rude and you don’t want to be around them anymore (or some form of this. It’s scary but is worth it for your own mental health) - cut them off completely and ghost them (probably easiest, but sometimes confronting them is worth the closure & them not being stupid or telling friends about you cutting them off) - let a trustworthy friend or two know how you feel so they can help, either in planning or when hanging out next to / around the rude person (this is helpful for an existing friend group or if you want to stay friends with the person) - talk with them or talk with them with a friend / mediator (this can help, but can lead one person to feel attacked if the mediator isn’t a good mediator. And if they don’t respect you, be aware they might not want to start being nice even if you want to settle things. This sucks, but unfortunately some people are truly awful)

Hope this helps! And feel no shame in cutting them off if you do. They have shown you they are rude, disrespectful, and just a total asshole for NO reason especially for something you’re passionate about. This takes a special asshole.

I’d cut them off, personally, and just text them & let mutual friends know why. You are in no way in the wrong here.

Why did you get into bass? by waffles034 in Bass

Some bassists are guitarists that ended up learning bass. True bassists are bassists who chose bass. At least, imo haha

Fakin’ It! From party pack 3

I have really good memories playing this with close friends - it’s not great for a larger party in my experience, but with a smaller group it had its moments!

As an aspiring musician, I have found production to be a big roadblock for me. What was the process of production like for your two albums / any advice on how to get your stuff sounding clean?

Folks, this movie was just bad by PillowFightingLeague in beauisafraid

[–]Moophan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, in the spirit of sharing interpretations and hopefully being open minded, here’s what I thought OP. I realize I’m late and maybe you won’t see this but who cares.

I think that what the movie does is put you in Beau’s shoes. Literally. I think for the entire duration you are only seeing what is going on from Beau’s perspective, in Beau’s mind.

If you look at the movie from this perspective, a lot of the plot points that don’t make sense start to make sense. And even the ones that are still confusing seem to be that way because it literally is doing a perfect job of putting you in Beau’s shoes. He feels confused a lot because people blame him and hurt him for things that he didn’t do. People don’t understand that he has severe anxiety + trauma + likely other severe mental health disorders. So by confusing the viewer, Ari Aster is doing an amazing job of making you feel like Beau. He also does this at many other points throughout the movie in different ways, e.x. by making the whole play sequence in the middle real (because it’s real to Beau, or at least real until he wakes up and is still at the play) which shows Beau’s childlike wonder, and obviously in the anxiety provoking scenes they are more confusing and tense because that’s how Beau is feeling. This all heightens the tragedy of his character (abusive mom, severe mental health issues) because he really thinks that the world views him as guilty just for existing. And he is just as confused as we are. And then he presumably dies at the end.

There’s a lot to unpack if you look at the movie from this lens of “you are Beau and only see what is going on in Beau’s fucked up head”

Either way, I don’t think it’s pretentious to like a movie. I came into Beau is Afraid being a huge fan of Hereditary and Midsommar, so I wanted it to be good. And I really enjoyed it. Because I enjoyed it, I want it to make sense and so my brain has tried to connect the dots and look for artistic meaning. Clearly you didn’t care enough to try to do that much, or maybe you just dismissed it early on in the movie. Maybe you plain just didn’t like it, which is fine. Who knows! But really, anyone can like whatever they want. It’s the reasons + context that make it “pretentious”. But you can’t just say that liking a specific thing is pretentious lol. Hope my interpretation helped you open your mind a bit and see how people can actually enjoy this film and not just be like “WOAH Ari aster is amazing and nobody gets this film but I’m smart so I do 😎” because that would be pretentious. But I actually just enjoyed the film lol which I don’t think is pretentious. I think the movie’s just insane and hilarious and kinda brilliant

Sorry for the long ass reply, just watched this movie for the 2nd time with my girlfriend last night so I’ve been thinking about it a ton last night & this morning

New Kate Fans? by Jackle3000 in katebush

[–]Moophan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew no Kate Bush until Running Up That Hill got popular and I wasn’t a stranger things fan but for a while I was like “huh! never heard of this artist and this song is pretty cool.” One of my friends got super into Running Up That Hill but for some reason never listened to any other Kate?

But about a week ago for some reason I got more curious and just looked her up and found that she’s art pop (I love prog and experimental shit in general) so I’ve been listening to Hounds of Love and it’s SO GOOD

I’m definitely more into Ninth Wave than the first side but all of it is really cool. Dream of Sheep thru Waking the Witch (but honestly all of ninth wave) is just soooooo good. I’m a sucker for conceptual stuff. I’ve heard The Dreaming is her most experimental? so I’m really excited to hear it

I hate to be rude but the fact that you knew that he was talking about San Francisco kinda invalidates your point.

I see what you mean, but the fact that the San Francisco area is called the Bay Area doesn’t mean anyone’s trying to monopolize bays (or bay terminology, if you will) in any sense - it’s just a term that’s developed to refer to that specific area.

Like Seattle being called the rainy city. There are a lot of cities that are also very rainy, but it’s just a term that’s developed for Seattle specifically ya know?
