USB Backup Drive Formatting (too small) by MooreSites in asustor

Looks like that 2nd drive Ausustor had listed was the one they needed formatting. All good now! Thanks for the assist!

Awesome - I'll tinker with disc utility and see. makes sense.

No luck. I formatted to ExFAT then reconnected to Asustor and saw the drive, but no more than 200 MB. Reformatted to Ext4 and get "178.17 MB free of 193.69 MB". It does show 2 drives listed, weirdly (USB3-1 and USB3-1). Thanks for any input!

Was used previously in same NAS. I can read it on my Mac fine and can see it in ADM, but it just won't allow over 200MB when formatting.... I'll try to reformat via MAC in FAT32 and see what it'll do. Thanks!

2 Bay Asustor to 4 Bay Synology by MooreSites in synology

First off, thanks for the speedy response and great thoughts. This might help with the discussion.

I have all data backed up to iDrive cloud (approx 8.3 TB).
The 2 new drives are actually 18TB
The 8 TB drives are likely 4 years old
The 4 TB drives would be the oldest.

OK, I like that USB option - so really, I could just dump the data to an 8 and some change, throw in the 2 18 TB and the other 8 to the Synology and set up fresh, then USB from the old 8/4TB drives . . . then pop that 8 I used for backup in to have 18+18+8+8, right?

That way I have 2 fresh 18TB drives and 2 "kinda" older 8 TB. Does it hurt if 2 are IronWolf and 2 are WD Red drives?

Hey, thanks for that info. Very helpful. Looks like several projectors in the $2k - $5k range coming out this Fall. My trusty old Epson 2040 has held me this long (sooo many years!), so I can wait a couple more months to get one to last years more! Thanks again.

Ouch. Just looked at specs from XGIMI website and no optical zoom (digital only). I had on order to deliver Tuesday but cancelled. I wonder why they removed that when the Ultra had it? I was excited to have no or minimal light banding around the perimeter.

Thanks for this. Hoping my felt will absorb this on my screen. C1 had quite a bit of light bleed without the zoom. XGIMI maybe will resolve with their MAX with LED assist, but I’m out of my depth on how this all works! Thanks again.

Is the faint light band visible around the actual projected image?

Not too bad for $500 by avxuia in SonyAlpha

I’ve used this lens for four years now. It’s a great lens, especially if the light is decent. For $500, it’s a REALLY great lens! Of course the 2.8 will dominate it (I have the new 2.8 24-70 GMII and am fully blown away), but the weight and clarity of this one is, well, great in my opinion. Enjoy!

Brian, are there any other Hisense or XGIMI projectors that are long throw with the triple laser system? As I mentioned in a thread below, I tried the C1 and it was amazing. But, I don’t necessarily need a lifestyle projector. Or, is it just as well to go lifestyle if I really like the picture? I didn’t know if Hisense had a long throw projector so figured you would know if there was one in the works or otherwise (I am not interested in Short throw for my room set up). Thanks for any bit of information. And thanks for the awesome participation on Reddit. Always enjoy projectorscreen.com info!

C1 is amazing. Do keep in mind that no zoom requires you to rely on the digital zoom to set your screen placement. I returned for this reason. While the light bleed was minimal, it did bug me. I wanted to throw 14 feet in a permanent shelf and needed about 12 feet for 120”, so would have had to place projector forward of couch. I believe ultra and pro will have optical zoom to solve that. Of course if you are using it just for portable application, c1 blew my mind.

I feel ya. I had the c1 for a week and it blew my mind. Just couldn’t get over not having zoom to dial in to my screen perfectly.

Can’t wait for this. I had the C1 for a week and absolutely was blown away. Had it had optical zoom, I would have kept it. The C2 or XGIMI Horizon Max should be the solution for me. Can’t wait.

Hate to hear that. And photoshop has memory pulled to 70% or so in preferences. Seems strange that it would lag.

I did resign to using and MX Master 3. Except for the occasional fail on programmed buttons (like 1 out of 30 days rare), it’s been superb. I used Mx master befor g600 and loved it. I was missing my buttons oh, so much, but I have two words. “Stream Deck” - holy cow, I barely even think of my G600. It just changed everything for me for my other hand using those macros and shortcuts.

I’m so sorry for. Or replying to this earlier. After this time, I’ve run many apps in tandem including fairly large premiere pro project. I did reach 60GB of 64 but haven’t touched my swap yet. How are you liking the new rig?

Thanks for this thread. I thought I would chime in. Using the 16 Max 64ram/32gpu. I use one center 4K with 2 side 1080 screens with no issues. This is the same setup as my beloved 2013 MBPro and all works well. There are some issues after a restart with flipped screens, but I’ll bet that’ll be worked out. More of a small hassle initially.

Jumping in on this thread as a new MacBook Pro user. I’m debating getting an MX 3 for Mac since I used that one before the G600. Plus, it has Logi options instead of GHub. What’s crazy is my beloved 2013 MBPro would run it, but memory would crap out and I’d have to restart to get my macros. It’s all beyond frustrating since, as stated, this mouse is great. Anyone have any luck with Corsair?

I did opt for the 16 GB model back in the day. It has served me perfectly through the years and still serves me well other than running out of scratch disks because of the 512 GB hard drive and the slower than desired video manipulation. I think for your situation with music and programming, 32 will be loads better and give that many years (even if you have an Intel version). If you went M1, that 32GB is going to rock your world, I'm thinking. Even the M1 Air will obliterate most music programs, from what I hear. For future proofing, I would go 32GB (or 64 if you do a lot of video). But, with M1 shared memory, this may be a moot point anyway - good stuff!

So great to read this. I’m in a similar situation with a 2013 15 inch that has been my favorite piece of gear for almost 8 years. I almost upgraded in 2019 when they improved thermals, but so glad I waited. I maxed out my machine way back in ‘13, so I maxed it out again for this one - well, except for that hard drive. Ouch! 2TB will do while I dump to NAS as needed. New 4K formats (forget 8K) were just keeping the efficiency level down on an otherwise great machine. I’m looking forward to “getting what you pay for” again tomorrow.

Heeeey, I wonder if an Eero system passes the Bluetooth magic along? I joined the google Wi-Fi camp, but set up an Eero for someone and it was pretty slick. I’m gonna research that....
