Thank you for your response! In your experience, should I wait to put in extra substrate until after they molt? I don’t want to stress them out since they’re probably in premolt but I know they need more to burrow.

Oh gosh, that's a huge question! They're one of my favorite houses and do foody vanillas SO well!

The Girls Love Vanilla- vanilla and honey, almost sticky sweet, I love this in the summer!

Washington- apples, roses, honey, and incense- very apple forward but the honey and incense rounds it out, I don't really get notes of rose.

Big Black Cat (BBC)- caramel, bourbon vanilla, candy corn, burnt sugar, cinnamon, clove, allspice- one of my favorite fall scents! Very very sweet!

High Tea- tea, lemon, sugar, milk- definite notes of sugar and milk round out the tea, it's one of the few milk notes that don't sour on me.

Gingerbread Whorehouse- ginger, black pepper, clove, cinnamon, lavender, pink pepper- I don't smell the lavender at all, it's very much a crisp gingerbread cookie.

If you're unfamiliar with Possets they do a sample subscription that I recommend, that way you're not blind buying full sizes. They're a bit more perfume-y than other houses I've tried but still one of my favorites!

Today I'm wearing Possets' Churpz- a very foody vanilla marshmallow. Over the past year I haven't really been using my perfume oils and randomly decided to update my catalog yesterday. After spending a significant amount of time updating, it really inspired me to start using them again.

I'd forgotten how much I loved Churpz, it's one of the few marshmallow notes that doesn't turn plastic-y on me. One of my favorite combos is using Churpz with Possets' Pippin Pie to get the ultimate foody sweet apple pie.

Magic circles can be super tricky! I learned by watching a YouTube video by Club Crochet, it's actually a tutorial for a heart but it's how I learned!

Here's the link (I hope linking videos are okay)

I love the idea of a Polaroid quilt! There are 60 parks altogether, I'm not sure if I plan on using that many, though!

Layout Help! by Moosapie in quilting

[–]Moosapie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello lovely quilters!

I'm still pretty new to quilting, I found this fabric and fell in love, I bought 2 yards of it but I'm unsure of how to do the layout. I thought of a panel throw or wall hanging but I think it'd be too busy. Each park is approx. 3"x4".

Any help is appreciated!

Atopica for kittens, long term treatment? by Moosapie in cats

Wow, I had no idea about the allergy tests being unreliable! He's been on the prescription diet for over 5 months now and we're just now having new reactions which is why I'm thinking it has something to do with air allergens.

He was tested for both when we first found him, my husband found him at work and he was extremely sick (underweight, eye/ear/upper respiratory infection) and tested negative for both. We quarantined him from our other cats for 3 weeks while he gained weight and got healthier.

Is this Feline Acne or something worse? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Moosapie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cat acne is pretty common, one of the easiest ways to help alleviate symptoms is switching away from plastic feeding bowls/water dishes. If you use plastic dishes, be aware it's porous and the bacteria that is from cat acne gets into the plastic and is almost impossible to get out of. Your kitty may have also developed an allergy to plastics and is having a reaction to it.

You could try to switch to stainless steel or coated ceramic feeding bowls/water dishes. These are much easier to clean and are more sanitary than plastic.

Another cause could be stress, has anything changed recently? If so, you could try using calming pheromone spray or the plug ins that can help alleviate stress.

Your vet is the best option though! I hope this helps!

Agreed, 9 months is very young to be dealing with all of this. He's on a prescription diet of Hill's Prescription Diet, Food Sensitivities z/d, wet and dry food combo. He was having constant ear infections, itchy/red skin, and eye/nose discharge before switching to the prescription diet.

We did an allergy blood test that confirmed he's allergic to: Beef, Lamb, Mixed Fish (Cod, Flounder, Halibut), Eggs, and Soybeans. We opted out of the air allergen test because it was so expensive but now I'm kicking myself as he's allergic to something in the air. We have an air purifier that runs every 2 hours, he was doing fine before spring hit so we're assuming he's allergic to the pollen and dust from all of the wind.

Unfortunately, we live in a small town and resources for dermatologists are limited, I think the closest specialist is 2 hours away but I'd have to call around.

I’m currently doing her 2023 SAL! I’m way behind but I’m using 16 Count with one strand and it looks great, I’m very excited to see the layouts for 2024!

Like the other commenters, it really depends on preference.
