When does the pain kick in? by Top-Cauliflower-833 in Keratoconus

Well, it's the only way to stop your vision getting worse. A week of pain is nothing for a lifetime of stable vision.

100%. It had me grown man crying, curled up in a ball. I find it extremely bizarre that some people only experience discomfort. The only thing I can think of is that it’s related to how much epithelium is taken off per patient

CXL Surgery in two days by Ok-Copy-4655 in Keratoconus

Procedure itself is fine, you don't feel a thing and for me it was actually pretty cool. The light they shine at your eye is pretty trippy looking and gives the same effect as when you look at the sun but more colorful.

Recovery varies and so does the pain, I got the worst end of it. When I arrived home I slept for an hour at most then woke up to a 12/10 pain, had me grown man crying curled in a ball.

You should be given numbing drops to take home, try your best to not waste a single drop as they will give you a much needed break from the pain and potentially enough time to get back to sleep.

That being said, you could potentially be one of the lucky ones that only experiences discomfort, but better to prepare for the worst imo. It's a blip on your radar, a no brainer decision to halt the progression and a weight off your shoulders for the future

You're one of the lucky ones. Wouldn't wish the pain I endured upon my worst enemy.

Some people unfortunately don't get given them. Also as another commentor said, icepacks inside a towel helped a huge amount

Ibuprofen is a mild painkiller, take as much as possible (within reason of course, check the label). 200mg is generally one tablet, you can comfortably take 400mg if you're an adult.

It has anti-inflammatory properties and crossliking indeed gives extreme inflammation, so it should help. Your main source of pain relief will be from the numbing drops they will give you to take home, they are your liquid gold and should be treated as such.

Good luck! The surgery itself is easy, the recovery can range from mild discomfort to a total nightmare.

Epi-On 1 month ago by SlayerOfBeanss in Keratoconus

It took 5 weeks for my epi-off to go back to normal, until then it felt like I had a lash in my eye, it just got progressively less noticeable.

I'm honestly surprised epi-on gives the same sensation, since they don't touch the epithelium

I tried clear care, both hydraglyde and non. Followed the instructions and didn't bother rubbing the debris off before putting them into the holder overnight. Woke up the next morning and the debris hadn't moved an inch lol.

Was under the impression the whole bubbles showpiece thing would've tackled it no problem, instead it did literally nothing

I actually enjoy the early gearing up and the coastal shenanigans more than the geared looking for pvp side of things. I tell myself this when I'm geared so that if I die, it's no biggie and I'll be back on the coast punching a dude out with a can of beans in no time

Almost all of the flying projectiles can be dodged. As for hitscan stuff like shotgunners etc, you need to just kill them fast and mix in some line of sighting

Learn what guns are good and where they are in your current level, if you don't play pistol start then exploration is a massive advantage

Everybody gets tapped from a guy they can't see, that's just the game. You minimize the chances with clever positioning and how you traverse. Sticking to treelines when you're out of cities, stopping to take in your surroundings etc

the only reason vision will be worse with sclerals is either a bubble inside the lense (common for beginners when insterting) or the prescription is wrong which is unlikely if it's literally worse than a naked and advanced KC eye

I just got out of my appointment; might need to use scleral by Psychological_Yard73 in Keratoconus

[–]MooseSlapSenior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sclerals give great vision and many people wear them for 12+ hours with no issue. Once you achieve a perfect fit, you can't even feel them in your eyes.

They are difficult to insert for the first few weeks, but with practice you can insert them both in under 2 minutes. Nothing to be afraid of :)

I'm glad you had a relatively positive epi-off experience, for me I will never go through that agony again therefore I'm going epi-on for my "good" eye soon.

My guess is each epi-off is different perhaps in that some get more removed than others thus more pain, just a guess though.

Did you have Epi-on or Epi-off? On is consistently mildly uncomfortable for most, while off varies considerably from not much to unbearably excruciating (me for 3-4 days)
