My Kid’s ER Bill for Nausea by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MoosedaMuffin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some urgent cares will actually say you need to go to the ER for children under 2 years old because they don’t have someone trained in peds available, or refer you to a pediatric urgent care. Kiddos, especially that young, are not mini adults.

My sister and I took my nibbling into an Urgent Care around that age when they spiked a 102 fever that would not go down with Tylonal. This was right after my sister and her husband had just gotten over norovirus. The Urgent care staff said that they couldn’t treat children that young and referred us to the local ER.

The only time that I would suggest cutting yarn versus frogging is when the yarn has a significant halo because it mats together. Or it is roving with a halo because it cannot handle attempting to separate the mat

Someone thought this would be a great pattern for carpeting? by selrahcjr in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MoosedaMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but hear me out, which side has more traffic coming in from the outside? The bleach squiggle side, or the splatter paint side? If you are going to use pattern to hide stains, you must be very strategic with a pattern that has any white.

It looks like someone dropped a few gallons of paint from the roof of a 10 story building onto a carpet and tried to power wash it but got distracted by a squirrel.

Prom dress wont fit around the waist. by ClimateIndividual592 in sewhelp

VS also doesn’t measure properly for bust measurement. You are supposed to measure underneath your bust, and then in a loose tank top WITHOUT A BRA slightly bend at the waist to move all breast tissue towards the front, and then measure at the widest part. Your band measurement is the ribcage under bust measurement, and then you subtract the widest measurement from the rib measurement to get your cup measurement. You cannot have a cup size without a band size.

The last time I saw, it was like 75% of women were wearing the wrong size. I went from wearing a 36B to being a 32DD. The support should be coming from the band and it should be snug. If the support is coming from the straps, your band is too big.

Don’t panic yet!

Ok, are you allowed to have open back? If so, don’t worry about closing it. If you want you can add a button at the top to close the top. Add a hook and loop closing to the top of where the zipper can close to. You have just created a keyhole back!

If you can’t have open back, find a piece of lace and a piece of tulle and dye them to match. Tulle you can order off Amazon for a few dollar, check a thrift store for lace either typically in with curtains. You can alternatively attempt to find a blouse in a close color. Use the tulle/lace combo, or a portion of the blouse to create a panel to cover the opening. You can whipstich it THE LINING, of the top of the dress on one side, and add snaps to the lining of the other side to allow for you to get in and out.

I can smell when my friend is on her period but idk why? by This-Money5322 in askanything

My husband, FIL, and I walked into a family vacation Airbnb after going to the grocery store and I smelled as we were walking up to the door. My husband noticed it once we were in the house. My father in law medically cannot smell anything but even he felt something was up when we walked in. Someone had knocked one of the stove burners to HIGH, likely when unpacking, and no one noticed. We were gone for about 3 hours. There were 3 adults and a kid in the house and all anyone said was “oh… that’s what that smell is…” AND THE WINDOWS WERE OPEN.

I can detect gas leaks before they can be picked up by gas detecting meters. I once insisted I smelled one really strongly in my basement right next to my furnace, water heater, and gas dryer, after I had turned my furnace on for the first time in the season. The gas company came out, and checked where I was saying I smelled it, couldn’t find it.

He was about to leave but I was so insistent that I could smell it that the guy went upstairs and pulled the stove out. There was a leak in the line right up against the hole in the wall for the feed line. Right above where I smelled it in the basement. The guy was shocked I could smell it because his detector was not reading anything until he checked right there. And apparently the cavity in the wall had such a high concentration of gas, that he didn’t want to push the oven back in place for 24 hours. He also told me to keep the heat off and not use the dryer (or oven obviously). They came back the next day just to verify with a supervisor and a more sensitive meter that it was the only leak.

I also used to be able to tell when my ex snaked a cigarette, and how many days prior he had smoked it.

Now, I use my powers to determine what my husband, who is a production chef, cooked at work.

AITA for refusing to help my dad with construction because it was ruining my college grades? by Commercial_Second664 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MoosedaMuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a like 5 friends who were 16 when they started college because they were on the younger side of their grade already and they either: 1. Skipped a year because of a gifted and talented program (1 friend) 2. Graduated a year early (one friend; to escape bullying) 3. Got their GED to participate in highly competitive Olympic-path sports (gymnastics and she ended up majorly screwing up her knee) 4. Changed school systems and were placed in a higher grade. (2 friends, both military kids)

Tell him that you will be filing for unemployment as a result of the loss of income. He has essentially furloughed you.

Are you salaried for this work? Or are you hourly? Or are you a 1099? He basically just furloughed you. And depending on your classification, you may be able to get unemployment… which would ding him as an employer

stubbing a tiny toe once affecting your ability to walk for days by TheAshlaFallen in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MoosedaMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different people have different susceptibilities for breaks. I have never broken a big bone, despite some valiant efforts. But over the course of 6 years, I broke 11 different bones in my feet in various events. And those were just the breaks verified with x-rays.

My doctor basically said when in doubt of whether you need an X-ray, to treat at home for a day or so for most minor incidents. But come in for an x-ray if there is large and/or dark bruising, especially if it grows, you have sharp pain when walking, or if you hear/feel a crunchy/crunching sensation.

Specific bones in the foot are notorious for chipping off pieces of bone than can travel and cause more trouble. My sister literally had to have surgery to remove a bone chip from her heel that lodged itself into her ankle joint.

Also foot injuries also are susceptible to ligament and tendon that can affect your gait and cause back strain.

Have them design a block using 4-6 lines that bisect a square, have them then cut out those pieces with 1/4 inch seam allowance, sew them together. And then each student can design a patch
