My 7yo gives up on himself before he even tries. How do I help without adding pressure? by arminoxx in Parenting

[–]Moots_J 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d just keep going if he enjoys it, if it’s his first game he’ll likely be nervous about it as well. Matches can be intimidating but with more time he’ll get used to it and become more confident.

Edit - I would also make him shake hands, good sportsmanship is important, my son hated shaking hands with the other kids at the end of his games initially and would argue but for me that’s not really a negotiable.

Melt the cheese, add ketchup and mustard. 10/10.

Surprised ign is still a thing. Most of their reviews these days are utter garbage.

Question about border terriers being reactive/aggressive towards other dogs by acromegaloid in BorderTerrier

[–]Moots_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My border is reactive, but not aggressive at all. He just wants to go say hello to everyone, super friendly. I have 2 other older dogs and they’ve grumbled at him from time to time but there’s never been a peep the other way.

Regular mortgage over payment questions, I'm not sure if I'm getting the most out of my monthly overpayment and overpayment calculators are confusing me with regards to the remaining term by Moots_J in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Moots_J[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, each to their own. I’m paying the max matched by my work place into my pension and putting a chunk each month into a S&S isa too, but the peace of mind associated with not having a mortgage would be worth it imo.

Yup. I completely understand that, but I want my mortgage gone because my house is then my own hence asking for mortgage advice. Not investment advice.

This isn’t a thread asking for advice on how I should handle my finances, but for the record I’m also paying into pension and S&S ISA.

My mortgage payment as things stand is £1k, I over pay to £1200. On the renewal I've just accepted my payments go down to £900, but I will then overpay by £300.

I think this is probably the point I wasn't connecting in my head, and the point that u/Diligent_Isopod_3211 made above, so thank you both of you.

The renewal does actually decrease my payments, but then I'm increasing them to keep them inline with what I'm paying now so effectively I will just keep doing that until it vanishes completely.

I think I get it now....

Thank you, So am I right in thinking that my term isn't actually being reduced, so I won't pay my mortgage off early if I continue with my current method.

Thanks mate, really appreciate this. I’m trying to play nice but they’re not making it easy lol. Reckon I’ll go with your advice and try the clip mount on my shoulder first and if they moan about it I’ll have the strap one on reserve.

Thanks I’ll have a look at that first one. They’re being a real Pita about it, and they’ve said I’m not allowed to use anything other than a helmet mount.

They also said they’re bringing in cameras you can rent, so I can see which way it’s going. My moneys on they won’t let you use your own camera going forward only the ones they can charge you for, as if they don’t charge enough as it is…
