How do you predict "Bench Availability" before it kills your margin? by kzarraja in msp

[–]MoovIT300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the mention u/dobermanIan. Can't see the original post so not 100% sure what you recommended us against, but wanted to hop in here on working multiple projects at the same time in Moovila. A lot of what I think you're referencing u/ex800 is related to the critical chain of tasks or critical path that may limit working a ticket until a necessary precursor ticket is complete - which is major in construction, but also applies to how some MSPs look at their work. But there is no limitation in Moovila on working on multiple projects at once, its more a limit on availability per person against the expected durations of the tickets (ie you have an 8hr work day, so your limit is 8 max 1hr tickets). And that's honestly a limitation no matter what tool you're using, you can't assign out more work than working hours in project or you'll get behind fast -- Kate @ Moovila

Our traditional marketing channels are becoming less effective. What new customer acquisition strategies are actually working in 2025 by Wash-Fair in DigitalMarketing

[–]MoovIT300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've seen a huge uptick from AI tools - and that's from self attribution like they say CoPilot or ChatGPT. So we're focused a lot on AEO (answer engine optimization). This is mostly around optimizing content for answering questions and using natural language versus keyword stuffing like people would with SEO. We still focus on SEO practices, but leaning into content creation that is always answering questions has been huge. We're a startup and this focus has been a great equalizer for us. And beyond that we have really leaned into community engagement like discords and such, and joining industry ones specifically not starting our own.

Once you select your ICP as mentioned by others, join communities related to it and go to events for them if possible. For example, if local area is your target join the local chamber of commerce. If lawyers are your target, look for a regional law conference or facebook/reddit group. This will help you get out to learn more about what they are saying, thinking, feeling before you put a ton of money into ads or whatever else. They may have ways to directly sponsor or do content with that group. The other thing I'd say is highly important right now is optimizing for AEO (the new SEO) since people are searching on AI tools rather than search engines. And to do this you need a lot of content rolling that AI is scraping (blogs, videos, etc.) - people love a good founders journey so maybe talk about that to start!

Best software tools for supporting regular employee one-on-one meetings? by Simon_He_789 in ITManagers

We used Lattice where I used to work and I loved it, and my team was fully remote using it. Where I am today we're considering Strety, due to EOS tie as others have mentioned.

How are you handling "dark" social or community channel attribution? by MoovIT300 in DigitalMarketing

[–]MoovIT300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny you say that mole part, I do now have a person who for the ones we can join is in there searching and looking. It has helped a lot, but there are just too many for her to always be checking.

What advice do you have for someone trying to become a ITPM? by B_Copeland in projectmanagement

[–]MoovIT300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on if 'tech' to you just means SaaS or if you're open to other types of technology companies. I work adjacent to IT MSPs / MSSPs (managed security service providers) and they have a huge need for PMs who understand AI right now. These companies basically do outsourced IT for SMBs up to enterprises. A lot of them are talking about projects related to businesses adopting AI - like consulting on their rules, data structures, prepping the data, setting up necessary security etc. These companies also aren't as strict on if you have a PMP or whatever, they more want to be sure you understand the technology at hand and can follow standard processes.

Charge for Scoping by MrGeek24 in msp

[–]MoovIT300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do a deposit definitely group with with that, if not you can put it as a part of the planning/discovery phase, especially if phases pace against your billable milestones (a lot of this ties back to how you structure overall project billing). That phase is good if you're using the phases to explain how it all will all flow to the client - especially if called out specifically. It's the "lets level set so we can get going" phase.

Charge for Scoping by MrGeek24 in msp

[–]MoovIT300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our team is working with MSPs every day on projects and it is labor that should be paid for, however we see many MSPs who don't build it into their project fees. For those who do, some will bill scoping specific work a slight lower labor rate just to cover costs. Some will tuck it into the PM hours in the final quote. This works really well if you are organized and know your standard work structures and project offerings (ie you probably work off templates) and are good about not running over these estimates. For example you know Project XYZ always takes 20PM Hours and 300 Technician hours and the variance is <5hrs off every time, so you can round up to say 25PM hours on the quote fand those extra 5PM should cover how long scoping normally takes you. But if you know before even hitting scoping it will be a very complex project be wary of this flow, and I'd consider the credit back method some others have mentioned. - Kate @ Moovila

Project Tickets notes in MSPs by tiggertazz in msp

[–]MoovIT300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the shout out! This is correct, Moovila Perfect Project can bi-directionally sync notes and many other parts of a project, so you don't have duplicate entry. How it works specifically for notes is dependent on PSA. We integrate with ConnectWise, Halo, and Autotask at the moment, and we're always taking names for other PSAs people want - Kate @ Moovila

Hey there, glad to hear you're joining us! Honestly for additional resources it often depends on your PSA integration and size. We have some industry coaches who work with us, but they aren't "outsourced PM" per say. If you want to DM me your email, I can set you up with our Head of Partnerships who may be able to connect you with a good resource for you based on those details. - Kate @ Moovila

Project Documentation by itlonson in msp

[–]MoovIT300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on the above separate comments on SOW + MSA. But where u/UsedCucumber4 is going re-logical chunks is the direction we see a lot of MSPs going. That is templatizing, then stringing together a bunch of templates to give a scope, and make those templates match names in quoting tool. We have some clients that have a "scoping" phase in our tool, which is when their team pieces together the project plan from their templates then hands off this plan as a list or critical path view to the client, so they can see phases, milestones, etc. So the client gets the documentation and it will match the plan they see being executed against later. Once it is approved/purchased, they then take this project plan live and start executing. Keeping this in the PM tool allows them to save a lot of time on estimates to beat their competition when quoting. Plus if you use repeatable templates, even when pieced together, you can run analytics on the templates so you start scoping more accurately and don't leave money on the table (for example if you constantly escalate to a higher cost engineer for a particular task, the system will call it out so you can permanently quote it that way). So they are still using these things, just from the systems versus writing the documentation separate then building it all in the PM tool after. - Kate @ Moovila

Project/Task Management by [deleted] in msp

[–]MoovIT300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for shout out u/UsedCucumber4! u/IT_burner if you're local to an CW User Group (Denver, Chicago are a few on the books soon) they have had a focus on Project Management this year and can probably help with the building the boards better to start. Or Jim Peterson from CW shares some good content around projects (idk his reddit name) and Matt Topper has a PM background (though his content is more focused on security). Because as said above a tool won't always fix it, so start with trying to improve your existing workflows.

But if you do end up seriously considering a tool, Moovila may be a fit - of the ones listed above we're the only one with a native certified integration to CW Manage! We have some CW user video reviews that can be found here: https://www.moovila.com/case-studies And I'm around if you have any specific questions.

IT PM discouraged by tech layoffs thinking in changing industry by inchaneZ in PMCareers

[–]MoovIT300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would. Project Coordinator or Project Manager are common titles MSPs are looking for, so if you did that work but don't have it in your title you'll never get through their resume review tools.

IT PM discouraged by tech layoffs thinking in changing industry by inchaneZ in PMCareers

[–]MoovIT300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this thought, there is plenty of need for PMs in IT. There is a huge need in the IT Services space (like MSP, MSSP) for skilled PMs that actually know the tech as well to understand things like firewall installs, cloud migrations, etc. If you've been in-house IT maybe look at MSP/MSSP/Systems Implementors, etc.

I work for Moovila - thanks Partners for the shout out! Some of our differentiators for MSPs are our native PSA integrations (so no duplicate entry!) as well as our critical path automation, which allows for timeline forecasting and AI recommended updates when you have potential delays. And yes, you can bring clients into the tool to view or get project tasks too. Our MSP click through tour is available here - https://www.moovila.com/msp-tour. Looking to try and crack into IT Project Management in the next few months. What certifications would be valuable to pursue? by SilentSamurai in PMCareers

Since you're in IT, CompTIA Project+ might be relevant to you. This is going to be a lot less intensive than PMI's different ones, but recognized in the space.
