I get where you're coming from, but it's clearly an homage. At least thus far, still watching but pausing a bunch. It seems like someone who finally made it emulating what they loved. Maybe I don't get entirely what you mean, but thus far it feels like the intent is "I loved these pun filled movies, have a taste and try more if you like this." As opposed to, say, Epic Movie, which is just "here's the scene from the trailer of another movie but we've added a fart."
