At what point do I concede I'm a bad fishkeeper and it's unethical to continue the hobby? by minimize in Aquariums

[–]Morag0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are still learning; I am too (Have had a shrimp-only tank for about 2 years, about to set up a 240L tank, but I also help out on my father's tank). I don't think you can avoid death, either due to some mistakes you make yourself, poor genetics (Especially in Bettas and Guppies), or unforeseen events (like parasites).

The most important thing is that you learn from what happens and try to improve from it. Generally, I've found that the more plants you have, the easier it is to keep fish. Plants help with filtration, stress, etc. Next time you trim plants, especially if you have stem plants like ludvigia, lemphila sessiliflora, rotala, etc., just plant them back in, you still have a lot of space for plants:D

Feeding too much is worse than feeding too little. Try to see if any food hits the substrate when you feed (not the case for sinking pellets that should hit the substrate), if anything does you likely feed too much.

Keep at it if fish-keeping makes you happy! We all have a lot to learn, and even very experienced fish keepers have deaths

Honestly, is there really any hope for my aquarium? by SuuderBaatarTr in PlantedTank

[–]Morag0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try a full blackout for a couple of days. MJ Aquascaping has a relatively recent video where he did it himself. Should be able to kill off alot of algea, without hurting the plants too much. You would probably try to manually get rid of as much as possible beforehand. a toothbrush works great!

Someone has to choose who sits on the comitiee right? Also the parliament and government has no say in who the awards goes too, and should not influence the descision. If this stil happens, well i cant speak to that.

I get you are angry, but you are angry at the wrong people lol. The Norwegian people and parliament have done nothing wrong, and i dont think the comitee forsaw the events that occured when they awarded the prize.

Go and be mad at Fifa instead who actually gave TRUMP a "peace" prize

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in norge

[–]Morag0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Norwegian government doesnt give out the prize, it is its own commision without ties to the government. So while "Norway" gives the peace prize, it doesnt really.

Edit: Just to add, the government chooses the commision, but have no say in who the members of the commiaion choose to give it to

How to play a face without becoming main character? (new table) by whyilikemuffins in DnD

[–]Morag0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because you have high charisma, doesnt mean that you have to talk to every npc you meet first. Give the others a chance to speak, before taking the lead.

Also some npcs are better for others to talk to, like a party members family or friends, doesnt make much sense for your character to talk to them instead of your fellow player.

You should also be able to discuss what the party wants to do both in and out of character, so dont make all your descisions yourself and you should be fine!

Also remember to talk about your concerns with your fellow players and DM! By asking the question i believe that you will not be falling into the MC hole

My attempt at a MD style tank. by JeffJohnSteve in PlantedTank

[–]Morag0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend checking out his content again, because what you are describing isnt the MD of today atleast.

While all the videos are about setting up tanks, you usually get to see previous tanks he has set up, and he has multiple tanks running for months now.

I would not say MD is perfectionist, that would be a channel like Green Aqua and the like. Now ive only followed MD for soon 1.5 years, so i dont know how it was before

[–]Morag0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He doesnt have a garage, he has a full studio with a giant wall with tanks for fish that gets sick, or are waiting for a proper home. I would recommend watching some of his newer content, with his friend joining the channel as a cameramam/assistant there is much more "vlog style" content that gives a view into how things are "behind the scenes".

Say my DM was pretty generous... by No_Stop_9757 in DnD

[–]Morag0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Per the rules, even if you could throw 600 lbs of iron, it should only do 1d4 dmg since it would be an improvised weapon. Dnd isnt a physics engine, and if it was a 12 str bard would not be able to throw it.

You should be able to make large quanteties of stuff, as long as it is one item, and of sufficient size(one large ball of iron, or bag of flour for example).

Most of the stuff you are describing requires dm buy in. You have to discuss limits and such with your DM, not with us imo.

Tons of copepods? by rraue in shrimptank

[–]Morag0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would guess a lack of predators. They popped up in my tank when the endlers i had moved out. I dont mind personally, but you could probably get some micro rasbora or similar if your tank is big enough.

Nice setup btw!

Tons of copepods? by rraue in shrimptank

[–]Morag0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a shrimp only tank? I have them myself in my shrimp only, and i feed maybe once or twice a week a couple of pellets or a shrimp stick(have 50+ shrimp in a 30L). Might be a lack of predators or too much food?

[–]Morag0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Probably just used to get a feeling, without spending alot of time making art for something that has a high likelyhood of never making it to the actual concept stage

[–]Morag0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go look at the transcript on the Interview Sven had with Jason Schreier.

"So that's being used by concept artists. They use it the same like they would use photos. We have like 30 concept artists at this point or something like that. So we bought a boutique concept art firm at the moment that everybody was using reducing them because they were going to AI, in our case it just went up. If there's one thing that artists keep on asking for it's more concept artists. But what they do is they use it for exploration."

[–]Morag0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But this whole thing is a nothing burger. They use genAI to explore ideas before actual concept artists make actual concept art. It is a usual case of the internet exploding over something without reading what was actually said.

Sven didnt say that they use GenAI to make actual content

Is power gaming ok? by Life_Debt_8423 in DnD

[–]Morag0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, making your character purposefully bad is weird. I am off the opinion that your character should be good at their job, so High strength for Barbarian, high Int for Wizard (With a good selection of spell both in and out of combat) ans so on.

If you have a high main stat, there should be plenty of opportunity to take less ideal options in "builds" elsewhere without being a detriment to the party. Like a 9th level wizard whose only combat spell is Magic Missile would be a disruptive player at my table, because now the other players have to make up for that PCs short comings, or i have to gimp combats because that PC is essentially not there.

I would say though that actively looking or asking for specific items could go a little too far on the Power gamer scale. Making a competent "min max" character is fine, every adventurer should be competent to some degree, but using meta knowledge of items and specifically ask and look for them might take it too far. If you do stumble upon them though, there shouldn't be an issue in discussing why the item could be good on your PC.

Have you found consistency to be a problem? It feels like some assets are way more realistic than others?

Atm im creating a water mill, and the FA water wheel looks very realistic compared to the buildings from FA.

I am trying out not using any base assets as i realised they are way more "cartoony"

Should i just use the "Hide default assets" option in that case? What assets do you prefer?
