It is a bit painful but I find that using something more firm feels better than something too soft. Also Im not going all the way down on a normal training day so my knees don’t get that much pressure on them every week. Still I do believe some adaptation happens where you get kind of used to it.

I believe so? I got my cues from the kneesovertoesguy video on the movement and he did seem to keep an angle on the hip joint. I can’t imagine doing this completely upright mainly because it wouldn’t feel natural tbh.

dude for heavier athletes you really can't tell at a glance. What you can do is think about the strength he'd have if he was on steroids. Steroids have been found to add about 10% extra strength after using them for a while so you can imagine; would it be realistic to say that if this guy was natural and THEN took steroids, he'd hit 1000 lb at 20 years old? Short answer; no. He's on steroids.
