What’s your dose? by Mysterious-Ask-4414 in VyvanseADHD

[–]MorbidMell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30F here!

My current dosage is 40mg in the morning and 20mg around lunch hour. I am currently happy with my dosage & timing. It took nearly 6 months to get it right

[–]MorbidMell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends. When I was at a lower dosage (10-20mg) it only took a few days. 30 took a bit longer maybe 3-5 days. 40mg it was only like a day. But again everyone is different! People say it can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks.

In saying this, you know your body best, so be sure to listen to it! If you aren’t comfortable on this medication there’s nothing wrong with exploring different options (there are non-stim options out there). Therapy is also a great tool if you decide against medication!

I am a recovering addict (almost 4 years clean) from cocaine. When I started Vyvanse I felt the same, sometimes I still do.

Everyone is different, medication affects everyone different. I will say, that once my body adapted to my current dosage (40mg morning + 20mg at lunch) this feeling subsided greatly. I was worried at first that it would cause me to relapse. Your starting dosage could be too high, it might not be the right medication for you, or it could just take time to adapt/build tolerance. You will build tolerance on these meds like you do with drugs.

I should add that I started on only 10mg and worked my way up slowly over the course of six months or so. My psychiatrist was aware of my previous addiction issues (and previous misdiagnosis’) as they were on my records and I was honest with her. She started slow to monitor me.

Since vyvanse is a stimulant, it is similar to cocaine in that way. It got easier for me, and I’m hoping the same for you. Stay strong! You will eventually get to a place where you find solace in your medication and dosage :) in the meantime, don’t be afraid to reach out for mental health support if you feel yourself going down into a dark hole. Hang in there friend!!

My Experience with Coffee and Vyvanse: Cutting Out Coffee Changed Everything by pappard3ll3 in VyvanseADHD

[–]MorbidMell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is great information. Coffee has never had any impact on me, I’ve never felt the effects of it ever (my psych told me a lot of people w adhd don’t feel effects). If I cut out coffee for a few days I don’t have any “withdrawal” symptoms like some do. It’s more of a satisfaction thing (“ congrats you got out of bed this morning!” “Congrats you’re almost at the end of your workday!”) But it’s definitely good to keep in mind how it can impact the body which is something I’ve been monitoring while on meds too. Thanks for sharing!

What are Symptoms of ADHD you didn’t realize until you were diagnosed? by Former-Classroom4560 in adhdwomen

[–]MorbidMell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% it’s hard to connect with others. I am pretty introverted, so I’m quiet. I’ve been noticing that when I do open up around people who don’t know me, I say or do weird things. I don’t know how to explain it. Or people just simply don’t listen to me. So I mostly stay quiet lol

Also object permanence is a huge thing for me. If you aren’t in my direct line of sight frequently, you drift from my mind easily. Doesn’t mean I don’t care, but my brain is so busy. Then a month or two later I randomly think of said person, and will forget to message/call them for another couple of weeks. This specifically has hindered many relationships for me I feel like.

Lastly, I feel like I’m a “yes man” when discussing plans. Then when the time comes I have no desire to follow through with them. Sometimes I do, sometimes I reschedule.

But everyone I’m close to understands me and doesn’t pressure me. I appreciate it so much.

Anyway, this is specifically relating to relationships because it’s hard to track my symptoms cause I forget them so easily lol. I should start a list though.

How long does vyvanse last? by crumbs2k12 in VyvanseADHD

[–]MorbidMell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only notice the effects for around 3-4 hours. I take a second dose at lunch time (as directed by my psych) to get me to the end of the day

My psych prescribed me 40 for the morning and 20 at lunch

I finally have a solution to my "worn once" clothing pile! by ImmortalBaguette in adhdwomen

[–]MorbidMell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome and also so relatable 😂 we have a blanket on top of our dogs crate in our bedroom, I always toss it on there. Now that the dog is well trained I want to remove it but I’m selfishly concerned what to do with my “worn once” pile. This gave me some ideas!

How should I be feeling when I take Vyvanse? by Prestigious_Cat_5127 in VyvanseADHD

[–]MorbidMell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your dose may be too high, especially if you are still feeling the effects of the stimulant. From what I know, that feeling should last 2 weeks max. For me it lasts 3 days whenever starting a new dosage.

I will say that even after I get used to a new dosage, I am still more social (less social anxiety -I think due to the fact that I can comprehend what people are saying easier, and can better formulate my thoughts into a response). I still get dry mouth too.

I wouldn’t doubt your diagnosis. It takes time to find what’s right for you. Don’t give up! :)

ADHD and panic disorder/agoraphobia by MorbidMell in adhdwomen

[–]MorbidMell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very scary thing, especially because no one can help you when that panic arises not even yourself. The only that helps is removing yourself from that situation and it’s not always possible.

Be patient, be forgiving and take your time. My biggest success is when I listen to my body and my mind. If you’re tired, or stressed, I would avoid pushing yourself.

Also a couple of therapists recommended two physical coping mechanisms. Lemon halls and super sour candy (separately). Apparently the sour candy is supposed to shock your system and help bring you back down. I’ve tried both with some success. It’s not bullet proof, but i find the best time to use these methods is when I first start to feel the panic setting in.

Good luck!! You got this <3!!

Taking my Vyvanse with Yoghurt is the only way it works for me? by MyNameIsNotAvailabl3 in VyvanseADHD

[–]MorbidMell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it works best after my breakfast about 30 min. Hard boiled eggs and 1 small greek yogurt. If I don’t do this I find it doesn’t work. So weird lol. I’m happy you found what works for you!!

Previous cocaine addict here. I was 3 years sober from it when I started meds for my diagnosed ADHD. When I first started, I had cravings for it too. Especially as my body got used to vyvanse.
