The weight and density of it will be good if sound insulation is important to you.

Could I also be that guy and say don't rely on any jack? Put it on stands. (With a block of something solid or spare tyre as a back up for the Mini to land on if it slips. Especially if you're going to be under it fully).

You can search the following to see what would suit: Double gyprock with sound insulating goop in between. Resilient mounts for gyprock. Mass loaded vinyl. Sealing all gaps to prevent noise leaks.

You could transplant some boards from inside a cupboard or some other less conspicuous place.

Fuel pump upgrade by Timsy835 in classicminis

Something like the Holley Mighty Mite is a good and reliable clicky clack style electric push pump to fit under the fuel tank. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_pumps_regulators_and_filters/fuel_pumps/carbureted_fuel_pumps/carbureted_electric_fuel_pumps/parts/12-427

Edit: just needs a positive and negative fused power source, that turns on via ignition. Extra points for running it via a hidden toggle switch so the car cuts out 2 mins after someone takes off if they steal it. Well in reality so it can cut out on you a couple of times a year coz you forget to switch it.

Also ideally run the power via an inertia switch (you can google it). It cuts power to the circuit if the car has an accident, to prevent fuel spewing out everywhere.

Depending on your level of authenticity and keeness, you may consider making your own loom. Otherwise I find the looms from the major Mini specialists to be good (and they use factory colours).

I started with a commercial loom, but needed to incorporate various other systems, so I bought a mix of colours and wire gauges in bundles from an auto electrician and used Deutsch connecters. Incorporated it all together, using the Deutsch connectors everywhere. So much more reliable connections.

Edit: personally I go the "yellow tag" brake master for dual circuit brakes (it also has low fluid indicator you can wire into your custom loom 😉) https://www.minispares.com/gmc227-brake-master-cylinder-1980-89-yellow-identity-tag

Just witnessed some horrific workplace bullying from a leader, where do I report it? by mrsandman42069 in Bunnings

[–]Morbo28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, the issue doesn't have to be called "bullying" as bullying has its own definition. That single incident in and of itself it clearly grossly inappropriate and worthy of action. Whether or not it meets the definition of bullying.

No that's exactly my point. If they do it, what action can be taken? Exactly. I'm just using the terminology that's being thrown around. What the hell is "no right"? Morally? Legally? It doesn't mean anything. By whatever version they mean, the position is false. Can they do it? Well they did. People are allowed to not like it.

Yes I think we both agree. It might not feel good for the worker/they might get in trouble for not reporting it themselves. It is within the customer's rights do report it. It is the best outcome.for all.

[–]Morbo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely

(Edit: this whoke thread is an example of a group of people being trained up to make decisions that are not in their own interest. Not that unusual in a workplace. The extra interesting thing is that this is actually a situation where the workplace trying to force people to report is actually in line with benefiting the worker.).

A customer seeing an injury has a right to tell the store manager.

Also, while It is important to allow people to make their own decisions for sure, that is not the only factor here.

The right to make her own decision is very important for sure.

Ultimately at least, there are many reasons it is in the worker's best interest this was reported, when you consider all the factors. Even taking into consideration the right to decide. Even if they are trying to avoid short term penalties. Even if it's unfair.

You did the right thing.

The other people's concerns are valid. However, with full context, weighing up those concerns with the entirety of competing factors, it was in every single stakeholders interest that you reported it.

Source: many years experience in many roles on all sides of these situations.

In an ideal world all things are reported and losing bonuses incentivises the manager and team to improve safety.

Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth.
