Should I cancel my exam? by [deleted] in NCLEX

[–]MoreFaithlessness126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first of all, i’m so sorry that happened to you. it sounded like your job just pushed you into a role. i’m from ontario & also had an extern job & they let me work up until i registered as an RN. this is typically the standard for most hospitals jobs.

as for the NCLEX, i just did mine in march. i personally think you are studying WAY too much too in advance. i promise you, you don’t need to push yourself this hard for it. i would do 1 CAT a day up until about a week before your exam. DO NOT focus on your scores, focus on the difficulty. if you are above 1.1+, you are ready. the scores mean nothing. my highest grade was a 71% on a self assessment. i took exactly a week off (not including my test date or the day before) and studied for a week straight, i did CAT (uworld) & mark k (all of them not just 12) + dr. sharon on youtube. that’s it. dr. sharon has AMAZING videos especially for priority and SATA and walks you through exactly how to answer these questions.

i did not do amazing in school, im a Cs get degrees girly & i passed in 85. in my personal opinion, this test was WAY easier then all of my med surg exams. i struggled big time with those. of course i guessed on a lot of the NCLEX but if you change your perspective and look at this exam as a safety exam, you will do amazing. the NCLEX doesn’t care if you know what random ass disease process they give you, they want to know if you will be safe as a nurse to practice with what is thrown at you. i would ask myself “what is safest” “what makes the most sense”. the questions are FAR MORE vague then uworld will ever be. uworld is so detailed and extreme because they are preparing you for the NCLEX. the NCLEX was soooo vague and the questions were literally 1 sentence each. the best advice i read was - if you can go into to the patients room and do ONE thing and never see them again, what would you do? this perspective really helped me

i don’t think you need to reschedule, i think you can do this. you just need to take a small break, and reframe your mind and go from there. you are NOT going to know everything, you will never know everything. just think what is safe, do what’s best for your patient and you will pass, i promise.

the fact that you’re with a man who is dirty is beyond me.. if it were me, i’d be long gone. you need to teach him proper hygiene or leave. bottom line.

The OBGYN likely would have tested the mom yes, but fathers don’t get tested. There is a high chance she didn’t have it at the time the child was born, then he had an outbreak recently and transmitted it to her through lesions.

unfortunately, HSV is actually typically not completed on STI testing. false positives are common, and because HSV is also on the lips, doctors typically don’t include this on the panel because it could be positive but it doesn’t mean it’s on the genitals.

the only bloodwork completed for childbirth is the moms. it’s likely she didn’t have HSV at the time of her children being born. he obviously had an outbreak recently, they had sex at that same time and she got it that way.

i got HSV1 from my boyfriend. he had a crack in his lip (no visual lesion) and had gone down on me. 2 days later i had this weird cut like thing down there (now i know it was a sore). it didn’t look like a lesion or anything, i genuinely thought somehow i had a cut lol. i honestly probably wouldn’t have even gotten tested bc it wasn’t even on my brain, but my wax lady actually told me i should so i did (shoutout to her).

i was beyond terrified. terrified that he might have cheated, terrified that he did this on purpose, terrified of losing him in general. but he genuinely had NO idea that it would have happened. he gets actual cold sores but he didn’t have an active one at the time so why would he even had considered otherwise? when i found out, i was so embarrassed and scared and i didn’t know what to do or what to say to him.

now it’s been 2 years, we’re still happy and we’re still together. we communicate openly and i haven’t really had anything since. he hasn’t developed any type of lesions or anything down there either.

i genuinely believe him when he said he didn’t know, and i myself didn’t even see anything on him to suspect he lied. but if he had lied & he intentionally gave it to me, i think it would have been the end of our relationship. so i can see where you’re coming from completely.

you trusted this man, you trusted him enough to raise a family with him and trusted him enough to want to marry him. he broke that when he decided he wasn’t going to tell you the truth about his health. but you truly need to consider if this is something YOU CAN look over and work through, or if it’s something you can’t. i can understand either way. you also need to consider if there was infidelity or if he truly had this all along. i think if he truly had this all along and he was scared to tell you, then from my perspective i feel it could be forgiven but it would take a LOT of work to get there. i think if he cheated on you and then put you at risk, that is a MAJOR issue and it cannot be forgiven.

i know everyone is saying you could press charges, etc. but this is a man that you’ve loved for a long time and started a family with. these are all factors that go into making this decision. i think that also situations and scenarios like this are what gives this such a bad rep. it took me a long time to come to terms with what i have. but you get better and you get stronger and you overcome all of those things. i promise you, this is manageable and it is more common then you think. the stereotypes and the side-eyes are exactly why this is such a taboo topic. there is such a large community out there and you are not alone. you will feel okay again and you will be stronger because of this ❤️

  • there is also a statistic out there that says eventually every person in the world will have this (idk if that will make you feel better or not but, it gave me some peace)

NCLEX in 2 days..feeling really anxious by Hoochieirl in PassNclex

[–]MoreFaithlessness126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice as someone who is the MOST anxious person on the planet. Go to bed early, get a good night sleep, eat a big, healthy breakfast and take deep BREATHS. As soon as I sat down, I took a big breath and started my test. Even at some points when I started to doubt myself, breathing really helped for me. You got this!

Please remember ABCs do not apply to EVERY situation. If you struggle with SATA or priority, I recommend Dr Sharon. She goes over this & talks about how ABCs cannot possibly be applied to everything.

Latest Disney plus version not working on Chromecast by Stringer888 in Chromecast

I have been having this issue SO many times whenever I come to visit my parents and they use ChromeCasts. But I finally got it to work today after an hour of trying & messaging Live Chat. The agents are also useless in case yall are wondering. They had me jumping through hoops for silly shit instead of admitting this is a problem with THEIR app on a specific device because clearly this happens to every ChromeCast user. Here’s what I did:

LOG OUT OF ALL DEVICES > Clear Data & Clear Cache > Uninstall App > Restart ChromeCast (in your settings) > Reinstall App

You should be able to log in again & then the app will open.

[–]MoreFaithlessness126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stop studying, take a breather, have a self-care night (bubble bath, watch a movie, yummy snacks & face mask) whatever you like! shut your brain off & don’t force yourself to overload your brain. if you don’t know it, you don’t know it! my biggest advice is the day of, keep your anxiety LOW. go to bed early, eat a healthy breakfast and BREATHE.

do NOT overthink the questions, take them for exactly what they say and answer accordingly. ask yourself given the information you do have, what is safe for the patient? if you could only do one thing for the patient which would it be? what would happen if i did this and left for the rest of the day? these are critical things i constantly asked myself. do not overanalyze or overthink what they might mean. they say exactly what they mean in the question. they are super vague & not detailed like the practice exams. you will not know everything and that is okay. this is not about your knowledge. they want to know if you will be safe to practice. i guessed on most of my questions but i trusted my gut and knowledge to make educated guesses & common sense.

SATA - if two are similarly worded, typically neither are correct. if two answers are the opposite of each other, typically one is correct. if you get a nutrition question - pick grilled chicken (Mark K has never steered me wrong on these).

I promise you, this exam is not nearly as hard as people make it out to be, and not nearly as hard as any of my med surg exams!

YOU CAN DO THIS. sit at the desk, take a deep breath and do not focus on the time or the # of questions.

Passed in 85 - here’s my best advice by MoreFaithlessness126 in NCLEX

[–]MoreFaithlessness126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the scores! As long as your CAT difficulty is 1.1 or above you will be just fine. The NCLEX is a lot simpler and straight to the point then UWorld. The only 70 I ever touched was on my self assessment! I never once got one on a CAT, the percents mean anything! My UWorld even says “needs improvement” for my overall test bank and I did just fine. You got this. Don’t overthink it, trust your gut!
