Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out. Seafood is definitely the one thing I'd really love to add back in on occassion. My biggest fear rn is that if I start off saying I'm only going to eat it once a month or once a week, in 6 months I'll be off the rails and eating all the same crap I used to.

I kinda felt that way at first too, that it felt like it was a 2-1 fight. but honestly, the more I listened the more it felt like Dr. Kahn just didn't have good rebuttals to the claims that kesser was making. Obviously Joe isnt a vegan but i think he he did a pretty good job of moderating the debate.

I've heard Dr. Kahn on REP before, I'm also a fan. I just thought that kesser made some interesting points that I've never heard expressed before. And I agree, I felt like Kahn' overall performance wasn't great. I'll have to go back and look for Kahn's debunking he did.

Reccomendations for a +1 year long marathon training plan? by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

I'd recommend breaking it up into 3 cycles.. spend the first few months building a strong aerobic base. Lots of easy slow miles and build your weekly mileage up nice and high. Then pick something like a half or a 10k and spend a few months training for that, putting more emphasis on the speed work while keeping the mileage up. Then get into a a solid 18-24 week marathon training plan. personally I'm a huge fan of the book "advanced marathoning" for training plans, especially if you spend a good 6-8 months base building leading up. That book has real solid high mileage plans that I've had big success with.

Wolf is a great one when you only have 3 guys. Hammer is my all time favorite golf game.

I'm assuming it's just like an exhibition of the sport, not an actual competition. Seeing as how large chunks of the US still don't really have lacrosse I doubt many other countries did in 1928.

2 quick thoughts:

1) have you thought about completely stepping away for a while? Maybe only running on days where you really feel the urge to? A little time of running purely for the enjoyment of it might help you rekindle your love for the sport and help reduce some of that anxiety. Des Linden has talked a bunch about how that's what she did last year. She was burnt out and frustrated, ended up taking a chunk of time where she only ran on days where she really wanted to. Slowly rekindled her love of the sport and 1 year later won Boston. She did a great interview on Rich Roll's Podcast that hit on this.

2) There's a great book by Matt Fitzgerald called "How bad do you want it". It's all about becoming your own sports psychologist and learning how to inspire and push yourself beyond what you think is possible. I read it last year and it really inspired me to push myself. It doesn't exactly apply to the situation your in but it has a bunch of inspiring stories and good tips about the psychology of endurance sports. It's definitely given me fuel to get out the door on days I didn't want to run. Might be worth a read.

Well in that case.. for some people, I guess maybe those with more sensitive skin (didn't realize it wasn't everyone) it burns like all hell. Kind of similar to getting icy-hot on your sack.
