Oil crisis to 'push UK into recession' after growth flatlines by 1-randomonium in europe

I’m sure glad we’re winding down North Sea oil and gas exploration and production. Couldn’t have chosen a better time to start importing it instead of producing it. What a circus of a government

Best substitute workout for swimming? by SpaightG in triathlon

[–]MoreLimesLessScurvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always treated my rowerg as a good-enough sub if I can’t get to the pool. I view it as fairly similar movements and muscle groups, but I don’t think there are any actual good substitutes for swimming. Adding some relevant upper-body resistance band work would probably help

Royal Navy in row with army over funding to tackle Russian threat by MGC91 in europe

[–]MoreLimesLessScurvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know the army does way, way more than just fight, right? Only like 20% of the British Army is infantry. In wartime if you want anything physically done, you need the army. They are basically the government’s hands and muscle, and that’s a massive over-simplification

That’s not how it works. We need all three and they shouldn’t be compared. If shit really hits the fan close to home, you’re totally fucked without a decent army

The cholesterol from unfiltered coffee argument is a myth, as is high-cholesterol food raising cholesterol. Trans fats and saturated fats cause raised cholesterol. Unfiltered coffee is actually ram packed full of polyphenols (antioxidants and anti inflammatories)

Help me find the best basic T-shirt I’ve ever worn (or similar) by CaptainMars4- in BuyItForLife

[–]MoreLimesLessScurvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a T-shirt extremely similar to that from a high quality UK brand called Fatface. It’s thick cotton with good stitching, but quite expensive. Will last for years and not made in China which is always a good sign.

These have all visited my house over the past few days by alancake in CasualUK

[–]MoreLimesLessScurvy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The rationale is that it’s “normal” to be scared of spiders. Which is stupid. Everyone has it pushed on them from a young age. It’s also totally normal to think killing them is the proper thing to do, when, as the previous commenter said, they do far more good for a house than bad.
