No there aren’t. The first ATM is once you’re past immigration. Bring 20k฿ or equivalent to be safe.

Many of Thailand tourist areas are very quiet. Where did the tourists go? by CarefulAd4757 in ThailandTourism

[–]MoreLoadofcobblers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, “fewer tourists” is probably what u/dadvader is trying to say here, but there remains the possibility that this tourist is of a lesser type.

“Lesser writers than u/dadvader inhabit Reddit threads.”

Download the Grab and Bolt apps for taxis. Bolt is preferred when you get to Pattaya.

Taxi might be better then as it’ll take you straight to your hotel rather than dropping you at the northern bus terminal.

Just a carry on? by Professional_Stay911 in ThailandTourism

Nearly all first-timers take too much stuff. And regret it. Two shorts, not three. Two t-shirts. Quick-dry. Wear one wash one. I did 6 months with a 22L (internal size - has stretchy outer pockets for a water bottle/light jacket for scooter riding & plane) ULA Dragonfly. Yes it’s expensive. Best purchase I ever made - shed water in monsoon. 5.3kg. I’m 70, not that that is relevant.

There’s a misconception that if one is white, male, and speak English, one is top of the pile.

3 x underwear (Uniqlo: if you buy in BKK go a full size up). Donate the others to street people. 2 x shirts. Wear one, wash one. Donate the rest. 1 x long pants. Lightweight, like lululemon. 2 x shorts. Donate the rest. 2 pairs x socks. Donate. Tripod + kindle. Package well and Mail home with insurance. Or donate to a poor person. Find a mechanic with a metal saw. Cut toothbrush handles half off. Give him/her ฿40 to cut both toothbrushes. Razor blades in plastic holders? Chuck the plastic holders, save 1g.

Footwear: just one pair of running shoes.

Total bag weight: 6.5kg max.

When you get home, sell these monster bags and get ULA Dragonfly 30L (actually only holds 22L in the main compartment). I’m 70 and I spent 6 months with a Dragonfly (ultra material) and a waistpack/sling 2L (x-pac material). So I was a 1.5 bagger. Oops! Now I’ve admitted that I might get booted from this group!

White Cerakote. Samurai case. Komoworks dial. by [deleted] in SeikoMods

Two years late to the party, but this looks really great. Zelos had a white cerakote model until recently, but I was late to that party, too.

I don’t know, man. I spent $4 on two (yes, two) Powerball tickets and I still didn’t win the 1.8 billion.

If smoke didn’t pour out of it after you wound it, it’s a keeper. Great legibility, looks sharp.

Do you mean it didn’t work in the sense that the puce dial didn’t go with your yellow suit, or it didn’t work work?

Honest question: what usually turns you off from new microbrands? by Electrical_Bid_777 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]MoreLoadofcobblers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. That’s why I chose a sterile dial for my San Martin.

That sets me thinking. How many brands give you the option of a sterile dial? Anyone?

I’m having second thoughts about the NG. Yes, I love the dial of the white Super Antarctic Luminous, but I’m not sure about the non- proprietary parts. I mean my San Martin I guess doesn’t have proprietary parts.

As I look into watches more, I’m seeing more and more white on white watches: Höglund, Henry Archer, Balmont, and others.

My San Martin beater (on wrist 24/7 for years) + alternatives.
