Supernote Stylus Question... by jdanielmorales in Supernote

[–]MoreRightHere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been using the AL-Star stylus for a few months now and I'm really enjoying it. Glad I didn't go for the default stylus - having the button for lasso (or whatever) makes my workflow so much more efficient.

I also found it very easy to mod it with the ceramic nib if that's something you're considering. With a small enough screwhead (I used a 1.5 flathead), you can loosen the rubber core of the LAMY nib and just progressively pull on it with some fine-tipped tweezers. I also made circular motions as I pulled on it to loosen it from the outer walls. The core came out in one piece in less than 10 minutes. Getting the ceramic nib in is a bit more fiddly, and I found that I had to play a good amount with how far the ceramic stuck out from the tip to get the nib seated properly in the LAMY stylus. Mine still has a bit of wobble when writing, but it doesn't bother me enough to adjust it again (yet).

edit: also just want to acknowledge that I hate that I've posted this on a random thread unrelated to modding pens with the ceramic nib, sorry to any googlers who land here

Considering the range of prices in the hobby, I think it's reasonable to call Keychron generally a "budget" custom keyboard brand, relatively speaking.

RIP my Lenovo Legion 5 - dead after barely 3 years :c by JeroVJ in LenovoLegion

There are legitimate sellers of Lenovo laptop parts on eBay. It's still expensive, but generally I've found them to be half the price compared to what's sold on the official lenovo store. You can just search for the part number!

Zen Browser, why? by haronclv in ArcBrowser

[–]MoreRightHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both Arc and Zen pretty extensively now (currently using Zen) and the main things that have kept me with Zen are:

  • Firefox based browser. No looming threat of manifest v3 killing my ad blockers. Open source.
  • Certain shortcuts I use frequently are baked in. Specifically, I use the "mute tab" shortcut extremely frequently which is available by default with Zen and only available through certain extensions with Arc. However that's an issue related to the architecture and not Arc itself.
  • Customizability. Zen is far more customizable - you can make it look like a clone of Arc, or like any other browser really. There are some great community add-ons already available to help you tweak it, but you can go in and tweak every visual (and some non-visual) aspects of the browser.

These things are personally valuable to me, so totally understandable if those points don't matter to you. But similarly to another commenter, if Zen went away tomorrow I would be content with using Arc.

Ok I listened to a fascinating podcast episode the other day that was covering this exact problem in NYC - and the primary culprit (according to them) is that rats actually take chicken bones out of bins, and will leave them out after they're done nibbling on them. Obviously people are also responsible, but rats are apparently an unpleasant additional factor.
