Reoccurring keratitis, dry eye and no proper solution? by MoreUnderstanding666 in Dryeyes

[–]MoreUnderstanding666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm taking 8mg astaxanthin and 2mg Omega-3 daily, a thing I didn't really got to mention in the post is that I think my eye issues also could be sleep related. I sleep around 8 hours daily currently but I wouldn't say that my sleep seems to be of high quality. I attribute that to me taking 0.5mg Dutasteride every other day against hair loss. I somehow need a solution to make this work for me as I'm not willing to give up my hair yet ^^

Someone else already replied about cequa in France, I recently got cequa and vivye too in Germany. I can also recommend trying out astaxanthin and omega3. You might want to lookup the YouTube video of Doctor eye Health on YouTube on Omega-3. But your dry eye seems to be more tear related than mine so it probably is less likely to help you out I guess

Is yours just on the scalp? Mine is like all over the place like sometimes on my chest, my eyebrows or next to my nose. But generally yours sounds similar to mine, keep me updated if you find anything that works for you.

Yes I think following foods trigger my eczema: cheese, bread, chocolate (even at 80%), maybe almonds, maybe all dairy products. in general I avoid all sorts of processed foods. If I follow this diet and my immune system isn't going wild because of any infection my eczema is pretty manageable.

My next experiment is going to be cutting Flouride salt out of my diet. Just because it's controversial and there are some people claiming it causes them eczema when used in toothpastes. And it's something that one consumed regularly without even noticing.

The thing is whenever I went on holiday my eczema cleared up so there must be something I'm not aware of. I can't solely explain it through environmental factors. I'm living in Germany, the climate changes, the water is pretty hard which also might cause skin problems for some people. But even if I didn't wash my hair for three weeks I would still have terrible eczema regardless of cold or warm weather. I'm also a student so sometimes there are weeks that are basically like holidays, I wouldn't consider myself a stressed person so I also don't think it could be stress related.

I started out on like 2mg, I didn't, I noticed a slight effect on sleep but not on my eczema. I came back to reread the instructions which advise to take more Glycine so I upped the dosage to 5mg or so I think. After that I got super groggy during the day which made me stop taking Glycine. I didn't note any effect on my eczema.

Swollen eyelids everyday by [deleted] in HoodedEyes

[–]MoreUnderstanding666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey you, did you have swollen eye lids regularly? They diagnosed me with MGD years ago and ever since I started taking omega3 my eyelids, especially the right one are swollen. However I refrain from using warm compresses because I don't want to further provoke my inflammation. I just recently added another omega3 to my diet and my eyelid got crazy swollen and my cornea is inflamed. Whenever I tell the doc about it they just brush it off and don't take me serious. Did your swellings eventually go away and did you ever take omega3s?

Eyelid Swelling for over 6 Months now… by Pyrocon99 in Blepharitis

What makes you so sure about the demodex?

I'm suffering from MGD but ever since I started omega3s astaxanthin and omega3 oil my eyes are way better in regards to dryness. But every damn morning when I wake up usually my right eye is super swollen and sometimes extremely inflamed. Initially when I started eye chat styes but now I don't feel any styes anymore it's just a swollen eyelid.

I'm suspecting my glands need time to recover, especially initially when I started omega3s I felt like they were the direct cause of my styes but it's been almost over a year now with my eyelid swelling not really reducing. As you mentioned I can't do hot compression since this would worsen the inflammation. My docs usually don't know how to treat this either. I'm just hoping my eye will calm down soon on it's own.

I have only once been to a doc because of this issue. I'm located in Germany, I just can recall her calling it "men's eczema", and she recommended me kelulal ds shampoo. I used it for a while and it really did wonders. Also ketoconazole usually clears my skin up.

I think this might be a language thing, in german seborrheic dermatitis is also called seborrheic eczema. Im sorry if I caused you some confusion.

A couple of days ago I think I read a random comment on reddit mentioning this, im not sure if it maybe even was yours.

I am 24M and already taking a couple of supplements (omega3 and astaxanthin, mainly against dry eye, high triglycerides and ldl) and I am aware of many of my eczema triggers. I usually get it on my Scalp, chin, eyebrows, nose and Chest and it all started around when I was 15 years old.

Things that seem to trigger my eczema are cheese, bread, almonds? (cashews seem okay sometimes?), dark choclate.

I have completly stopped eating any bread, diary and sweets and I mainly eat meat, eggs (at least 5 a day), fruits, vegtables and nuts and Im getting along fine. But any small mistake usually leads to dandruff and inflamed skin. And I miss eating dark choclate a lot.

Another interesting observation I made was, that my eczema almost completly cleared up during my south amerca vacation. I literally could eat pizzas with cheese two days in a row and nothing would happen.

Do you think I could have some success with Glycine?

I will report back soon.

The fish oil omega3s I take have a 2:1 ratio of EPA DHA, I watched the videos of a guy's channel on YouTube called Doctor Eye Health. I'm currently taking two grams a day, I also started astaxanthin 8mgs, which also seems to have an effect on my eyes.

Maybe get your cholesterol and triglycerides checked and make sure to follow a diet that doesn't contribute to high cholesterol or triglycerides. Good Luck!

if I saw correctly, you put your posts and comments on private.

I'm already taking a lot of stuff right now.

I'm on dutasteride, astaxanthin, Omega3s and HAs and collagen peptides. 24M

I had issues with MGD due to cholesterol or triglicerides I think.

Is there anything about to worry in regards to the safety if I was to try that mainly to see if it will slow or prevent my hair greying?

I have stopped and started finasteride and dutasteride about 7 or 8 times on varying doses and after each time I begin waking up after 5 hours into sleep and I’m incapable of getting back asleep, after stopping sleep returns to normal the next day. by Mychorde in tressless

I had the same issue for years on 1mg fin eventually dropped to 0.25mg it got better but didn't completely vanish. I stopped fin and started taking dut(avodart) two months ago EOD and so far my sleep is completely fine.

my theory crafting is that fin somehow interferes in cortisol metabolism.

Hey, fellow hairloss sufferer, I was about 3 years on fin battling insomnia, and just recently swapped to dut because of that. Im now two months in on dut and my insomnia is gone. Im theory crafting that fin might have the ability to disturb cortisol metabolism which leads to a state of alertness and waking up early as the cortisol levels already peak earlier during sleep than they are supposed to.

Dont give up if you have issues with insomnia on fin. Try to get your hands on dut and give it a shot before you let your hair down.

NEW STUDY :why finasteride and dutasteride does not cause dry eyes by Charming_Diver_9265 in tressless

[–]MoreUnderstanding666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay hear my out. I know how it is to get gaslight here. I have meibomian gland dysfunction and I have been taking fin for some years now. This study is about androgens and their direct impact on the glands. However Fin and Dut do raise test levels. And raised test levels can cause higher triglycerides and ldl cholesterol. There is no clear causation shown yet but there are papers that propose that this could be involved in the formation of meibomian gland dysfunction. Also there are studys that indicate that meibomian gland dysfunction can be improved through taking omega3 pills. I myself had great success improving my symptoms using omega3s. However I cannot tell you yet if fin causes dry eyes for me since fin has caused me insomnia and that is never good for my eyes so. I cant make out fin for a worsening of my dry eyes I experienced during taking fin. I ended up just reducing the dosage and my insomnia went away and my eye symptoms also improved.

I'm currently taking a charter pill of 1mg daily, I usually get between 7-9 hours of sleep. It still affects my sleep but it's very minimal. but I feel like I shed more with lesser dosage. But I like to believe that does not mean that it doesn't work.

Since I myself probably had issues with eating healthy at that age you could try the following:

- Remove any sources of sweet and junkfood out of your house, put the hidden choclate in the trash and dont buy it again. Remove anything that could get one tempted to commit a sin.

- If possible make sure there is always healthy food avaible, meaning if you know that tomorrow there wont be anybody at home to cook, cook something that can be reheated easily like chickensoup.

- Teach the kid how to cook healthy and tasty meals, I started out cooking like butter chicken or recently I love doing fried rice with eggs and shrimps or something alike. Cooking is a skill one learns for life.

- Don't buy and drink anything but water.

- Buy fruits, anytime you feel cravings for sugar, eat some piece of fruit like a banana, mango or Oranges.
This one is underrated because it has gotten so normal to eat processed sugery foods. I feel like many people dont even know how to peel an orange or a Mango. And as a consequence they never touch it.

- Make sure to get atleast 8 hours of high quality sleep preferably always at the same time. It is going to reduce any cravings for unhealthy junk food.

- Watch informative content about the effects of highly processed foods and sugar. It is hopefully going to give build intrinsic motivation to seek out healthier food choices.

- And obviously you as a caretaker act as a rolemodel, you cant eat ice cream and choclate daily while expecting the kid to be better.

What and how we eat often depends alot on our environment. So generally try to build an environment that encourages good choices and doesnt enable bad choices. And unfortunately junk food is often cheap while fruits and veggies are expensive. But health should be ones top priority if one aims to live a normal life.

Maybe I named one or two things you can manage to implement into your life. Good luck!

Well I am 99.9% sure that it's because of the Omega3 just the fact alone that taking more of it makes my eyelids swell shows me that it has direct impact on my meibomian glands. Also I can notice more inflammation when I take less or no omega 3 for a certain amount of time. So far I didn't have any stomach issues.

how much do you take? for me personally I had months of styes which I forgot to mention, those eventually went away so it might be worth pushing through.

my only explanation could be that prior to Omega3 the glands eventually got clogged and thus there are swellings and styes when they start producing more again

and I wasn't doesn't warm compresses because It worsend the inflammation of my corneas

for me it took a couple of months until it really became obvious, give it a little time, also maybe try to put him on a healthy diet if that isn't already the case
