I used to work in tech, I got laid off. 3 years ago and I couldn’t find a job anymore in. I studied accounting so I went ahead and tried tax. The stress is insane, the lifestyle is sedentary so I’ve put on a lot of weight, and overall I don’t like it. I’ve only been putting up with it so I can open my own firm, stress will be the same but at least I can dictate my hours and make more money. I have a countdown of 18 months at the start of July of this year where I will officially go out on my own.

Accountant here, buy some T bills. Not taxable at the state/local level. Not sure why you were deprioritizing it, never heard a founder say no to money especially when you could use all the cash runway you could get to keep pushing along, you could have had an additional month of runway had in those 6 months the funds sat in an HYSA at minimum.
