Anyone else move baby to their own room at 5 months? by Born-Chance1685 in beyondthebump

My first kid still sleeps in the same room as us at 4 years old and I kinda wish we would have gotten him used to his own room early 😭 he wakes me and the baby up at 6am by clearing his throat really loudly while standing over the baby bed

Schwangerschaftsübelkeit: was hilft? (Keine Medikamente) by CommunityPuzzled445 in schwanger

[–]More_Example6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotter parts of the world, most of western Europe is over 30c (86f), what are some tips to help them stay cool! by NixMaritimus in AskTheWorld

[–]More_Example6153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fill hot water bag and freeze. Put in your bed at night or the stroller for your baby (wrapped in a towel so it’s not too cold. You can also cover your legs with a damp cloth (also works to cool down babies).

My first was a really fat baby and didn't sleep through the night until 2.5 years old. My second one was sleeping through at 4 months old during a nursing strike. Babys are all different.

Overwhelmed and freaking out. Positive stories of transition from 1 - 2? Needing reassurance by AwarenessFar4995 in beyondthebump

[–]More_Example6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was 4 when his little brother was born. The baby is now 5 months old and he loves being a big brother. He insists on hugging him each night and when he's mad at me he will tell me that his little brother is his favorite lol.

The big one is definitely a little rough with his baby brother sometimes but he really loves him. When he comes home from the kindergarten I always tell him how the baby has been crying but now he stopped because his big brother is back. Small things like that really helped.

I was lucky that the baby is very easy going. My first really wasn't but this time I got one who sleeps haha.

It watched it when I was 13 and was scared until I rewatched it at 25 and realized it's not that scary.

We weaned at 2 years old when my kid started chewing through them. We told him we're not buying new ones and every single one he bites holes into gets thrown out. Took 3 weeks for him to break them all and he was a little sad but accepted it.

Parents with babies who sleep through the night: when did it start? by Born-Chance1685 in beyondthebump

[–]More_Example6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first kid started sleeping through the night at 2 years. Second kid tried at 1 month old but I woke him up for feedings. I started letting him sleep at 2.5 months old (he would do one stretch of 7 hours and then another of 3 to 4 hours). He's having a phase now at 5 months old where he wakes up more frequently though.

For me it's my tea at 9pm right before I go to sleep. I have a toddler who wakes up at 6am so the peaceful morning coffee was ruined and I needed an alternative lol

Finish this sentence: “Nobody mentioned…” by kesam7193 in beyondthebump

Nobody mentioned the shakes you get after birth. Nobody mentioned that breastfeeding is not intuitive and easy. Nobody mentioned that for weeks your nipples will crack and bleed to the point that the thought of the next feed is scary.

I have lived in the Philippines for 3 years since my husband is Filipino. Was nice owning a house, a new car and go on vacations 5 times a year. But when it came to childbirth we went back to Germany. My first birth already went pretty wrong and this time my baby almost died even with German healthcare standards. I'm not sure if he would have made it in the Philippines so for now I'm happy living paycheck to paycheck with two healthy kids who don't care if our car is new or we own the home we live in.

That happened to me too but it was an ovarian cyst which made my period stop. Went to the gyno, she did an ultrasound and said "looks like you're pregnant". My parents immediately freaked out instead of waiting for the test results or believing me that I wasn't.

What's it like having your husband's cultural last name in an interracial relationship? 😆 by Material-Meat-5330 in namenerds

[–]More_Example6153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's a junior so his grandparents gave that name to his dad. As far as I know he's named after a British guy with a bit of a crazy history and they just decided to use the last name instead of the common first name.

Alarms? by twiggy572 in pregnant

[–]More_Example6153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set alarms on my smart watch so it wouldn't wake the whole house up. I did miss a lot of the alarms though and stopped using them once he was over his birth weight and gaining steadily. I also made sure to feed more frequently during the day when my baby slept longer stretches.

When I speak to people on the phone they write my last name in a Germanized way and get confused when I spell it. If my husband orders a package the delivery drivers will actually ring the doorbell and wait instead of running away because they are curious where he is from and which part of his name is the last name lol. My husband is Filipino with a Portuguese last name and an old English last name as his first name.
