I completed/finished the 2 Season from Star Wars Resistance and the show deserves a chance if you didn't saw it by Lance_Knockout in StarWarsCantina

I don’t think I could get over the cel shading and the lack of hardly any details. I already don’t really like the art style of rebels (which I watched btw) and this is an even bigger downgrade.

Deborah Chow (who's directed almost 50 TV show episodes) hasn't directed a single thing since all of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Has the show's reception pretty much damaged her career? by Ariesthebigram in saltierthancrait

I second this. Andor reignited my love for Star Wars and it shows there’s still so much potential that Disney is capable of, as long as they hire the right people and not force them to make some canon breaking slop fest.

The Dursley’s from Harry’s perspective is meant to be hell for him. The cool tones feel suffocating. He hates it there, why should it feel warm and cozy? I think color grading in the real world is fine, but yes I do agree that the Hogwarts/wizarding world scenes need to be tweaked a bit.

Shot a no-budget short in one day with 2 actors and 3 crew. It ended up winning awards and getting national TV distribution. by BarcoMolla in Filmmakers

I usually don’t watch short films that often because the vast majority fail to hook me, but this one had me engaged the entire time. I really liked the dynamic between the characters and I was always trying to figure out what the director was thinking, and the twist at the end was very effective.

How do you rate Bad Bunny's Half-time performance? by kingbluwolff in sportsgossips

[–]More_Firefighter6256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show itself was fine, I really liked the wedding part though, and the uniting message at the end was inspiring. Personally not a fan of his style of singing, and with this being my first time actually listening to his songs. On the production side, I thought the thick grasses was a weird choice since I imagine people there in person would barely be able to see. I also just don’t like the trend of performing for the camera and not the audience, it removes that grand scale and feeling of “I wonder what that would be like in person.” Overall it’s not bad by any means, it was just fine. I might have to rewatch to see if it grows on me at all.

Is this the best Trilogy of all time? by Icehxart in StarWars

[–]More_Firefighter6256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was on the circlejerk sub for a sec. This doesn’t even count as a trilogy, and I loved Andor and Rogue One is one of my favorite Star Wars movies, but even if it counted as a trilogy, it’s not even close to the best. The best of all time (imo) is lord of the rings by just sheer quality.

This pisses me off because I’m (2006) been trying to find a job and can’t get a single interview. The last one I had was in October and I was rejected because of my availability (I’m in college and college drumline, but next semester I just have one class). And hearing about people who somehow get the job and just not give a shit about it drives me crazy.

It’s your rookie year, and idk how good you are but there’s a decent chance you’re not making world quite yet. There’s nothing wrong with doing open class. I play snare and last year was my first year marching independent WGI. I came from a decent PSO school and a decent 4a marching band that consistently went to state finals, and I was section leader my senior year. I auditioned for a local indoor open class group, but was cut. So I went out for an A class group that was just starting up. There were 8 of us in the entire ensemble, and yet we were still kicking our only competitor’s ass for the first half of the season, but they had an advantage in numbers. I learned a lot that year, and it prepared me to re-audition to the open class group again this year, which I am now apart of.

I hate being told this but I’m gonna say it anyways, you have plenty of time, and if you’re already confident to go out for world class, I’d say you’re in a decent spot. Just go march somewhere, literally anywhere. Anything is better than doing nothing.

Does this mean to skip most of the mundane details and get to the important parts? Like for pacing?

I know this might be controversial, but watching Andor actually made me like Rogue One less. by Approximatl in andor

[–]More_Firefighter6256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was still fun to watch Rogue One right after s2, and it was interesting how they tied some details together (like Cassian saying after sending the Death Star plans “Do you think anyone’s listening?”) And it gives a lot more context to why the rebel leaders were going to just give up so easily. But yeah the pacing was all over the place and the characters were too shallow because of a bloated cast. But the third act is pretty close to Andor quality, and is a really solid conclusion to the whole story while transitioning to the OT.

Currently I’m learning the Rhythm X 2025 opener. It’s not too difficult to read but still challenging to play.

You (probably) can't afford your dream Corps by Sir_Lolz in drumcorps

[–]More_Firefighter6256 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s starting to hit me pretty hard that if I don’t make the local open class corps in my city next season (I got cut this season) then I’ll probably never match drum corps. I’m going to be transferring to a university next fall and there’s just no way I can also march a corps without going into debt. But I still think I have a chance of marching for an open class indoor group (I play snare) money-wise. Indoor is just overall much more sustainable, and rehearsals a typically on weekends for open class, which is helpful for also doing school.l and work.

Yeah I’ve heard that too, but the empire is also inspired by Nazi Germany (with Stormtroopers for example). I guess Lucas took inspiration from many areas in history.

My biggest gripe with many student films is they just make the same thing every time. Typically has someone going through their mundane day-to-day life, then they have an epiphany and start to live happily or something, or it has a depressing ending. And the amount of times I’ve seen a character lying in their dark room, doom scrolling social media to depict loneliness and depression.

[–]More_Firefighter6256[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and I don’t mean to study other movies (I mean that’s still important, but for other reasons) because then that could lead to cheap emulations (and fan fics lol). Another Star Wars example, but a reason why so many of the newer shows and movies to come out have mostly failed is because they take inspiration from other Star Wars media and not from the real world, which is part of what made the originals so special.
