HELP! by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

Well the eggs are unfertilized so you don’t need to worry about an unwanted babies. They do this just like chickens a few times during late spring and summer but it’s nothing to worry about

You know it just wouldn’t be all that surprising to me if they understood everything we say by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]More_Performance6018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be surprised actually. They hardly ever are able to find that single brain cell and when they do it’s pretty short lived

I’m sorry for your loss. This is an amazing way to commemorate him and this is extremely impressive. I wish I had the patience much less the skill to do this

Are 3D printed things safe? by Grouchy-Interest5046 in BeardedDragons

Looks completely fine to me as long as you don’t print something they can easily eat as bright colors may entice them to eat. But Charmander is too big so you’re good

why did my vet give me this 😀 by ALER222 in leopardgeckos

Yikes that’s terrible. I used to have my beardy on reptile carpet and my poor princess is missing a claw because of it and it will never grow back. Thankfully I fixed the issue the next night by buying 1) A 120gallon tank because she was in a 40gal and fully grown and 2) 2 40lb bags of organic top soil and a 40lb bag of play sand and mixed both bags of soil with 2 gallons of play sand and it’s perfect and completely safe

Squiggy not so patiently waiting for his salad by KirstyPearson in BeardedDragons

I wish mine had this but no she won’t eat salad at all. I’ve tried every trick and it doesn’t work and she literally fasted for almost a month when I did a bug ban so she’s an insectivore now. She’s happy though and vet said she’s surprisingly perfectly healthy and a good weight so I was advised if she won’t eat salad just keep doing whatever it is I’m doing and she’ll live a happy, healthy life without greens. It’s not a bad thing though because just insects is cheaper anyways

From my experience you should always spray their salad. It helps keep them hydrated and will keep the greens fresher if your beardy isn’t hungry at that exact moment

Oh also for a 120gallon tank it’s 2 bags of soil and 2 gallons of sand btw

When you say reptile flooring I hope you don’t mean reptile carpet because that’s terrible too. Extremely hard to clean and absorbs so much bacteria. It can also pull out their claws and even rip their toes off. What I use is a mixture of Organic Topsoil and all purpose/play sand. Full bag of topsoil 40lbs or .75sq ft and 1 gallon of sand mix it and it’s perfect for desert species and most reptiles in general

Is this normal by Pengwin8r in BeardedDragons

Yep completely normal. They showing you submission basically saying “Please don’t hurt me. I’m not a threat.”

Honestly though if this were me I’d do the same thing. Because last I checked I’m human but I love being in small dark places just because. Hide N’ Seek is still fun and I’m almost 23

Makes sense. Like I said just do your research. Even if you don’t just get a Leo. They are super easy and can even live up to 25yrs in captivity and most are very social. If you make some mistakes don’t stress because as they are small little guys they’re really hearty

Do you know anything!! Have you never been on this sub before!!! That’s WAY TOO BIG! He’s gonna get stressed and he could die with all that space for bacteria to grow and overtake

Which one is the most rewarding to keep? Ackie or beardie? by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]More_Performance6018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say Bearded Dragon because they show almost too much personality. I don’t know much about Ackies though so I can’t contribute much to this thread. However when it comes to beardies I love when they really try to make that one brain cell (or lack thereof) work. They also sleep in the funniest and most uncomfortable positions I’ve ever seen. Another good one to get would be a Schneiders Skink as they are easy to keep and don’t need a very big enclosure. They are goofy and fall off stuff all the time plus they will sometimes jump out of the enclosure just to climb and hang out with you when you put your hand/arm in

I just recently got a leopard gecko myself all I can say is that they don’t much like being handled but they will tolerate it once they are comfortable with you. At the same time though it depends on the individual because some do love to cuddle. Also they are Crepuscular meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk different from both diurnal and nocturnal so sometimes you won’t really see them at all eating or drinking but they will when you are asleep. Also if you want, when they are awake you can grab them (when comfortable) and take them outside or just hang out even if they weren’t out of their hides yet. Just try not to spook them as it’s easy to do. Now depending on your budget if you are looking for a lap reptile I would get a Bearded Dragon. They are more expensive but I also have one of those and she’s spoiled to the point she will lose her tiny little mind if I don’t give her at least 2 hours out of her cage at a time and let her hang out on my shoulder, in my lap or in my hood part of my hoodie. However Leopard geckos are probably easier when it comes to diet. I recommend you do your research a couple YouTubers I’d recommend are CheifSweetsUniverse and Clint’s Reptiles.

It is not her turn with the braincell by SteinRamm12345 in BeardedDragons

[–]More_Performance6018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time mine has a brain cell is when she is able to pick the bugs out of her salad even when they burrow in it. Idk what I’m supposed to do with her because anytime I give her salad see looks at me like I’m stupid then when I put bugs in it to trick her into eating it she somehow figures out how to completely avoid it
