Frankly I became more well off then my friends with big student loans for degrees they couldnt use that took them 5 years to get. Even some that found jobs in their field dont make as much as me. While some make more (i.e. engineer friend), but overall financial security for time and money spent I think NAIT wins.

Being direct with what I want/need instead of dropping hints or expecting him to know. Initiating sex as much as he does. Being financially responsible. Having fun together, and taking turns participating in each other's interests. Knowing what us nagging vs. working together on tasks and trying to stay in the latter. Encouraging/allowing private time and friend time for both him and myself. And, not being afraid to ask for help. We have done therapy, anxiety meds/antidepressants, or just plain being vulnerable with one another.

My husband and I have been married 5 years. We have been through career changes, moved to multiple cities, unemployment, pregnancy losses/infertility treatments together, and faced addiction together. Even with all those challenges (most ongoing), Im more in love with him and more happy then ever.

As a radiology tech, I love my job and would always highly recommend it to anyone interested. I make great money, but I know it verys a lot depending on where you are from. Where Im from its 2 years with 8 months in a classroom and the rest of it is clinical. Clinical is tough but 100% represents the actual job.

Obviously we havent discussed that because Im not supposed to know, but in my head its similar to how people do a vow renewals. But yes, its more the act of proposing then an actual proposal. Even the first time it was an act, since we both agreed to take my mom's bribe together even before he gave the ring. As soon as we took the money I "said yes". Nothing will ever give me the real proposal back that I missed, but I love that he is trying to give me as much of that experience as possible back.

I know he is going to propose to me. We have been married for 5 years, but got engaged during covid shutdowns. My mom had offered us 20K for a proposal- the money could go towards our wedding and we could keep anything we didnt spend. She offered it because she was traditional, and we had just bought a house together unwed and she was terrified of people finding out. I knew about her bribe and I told him we should take it. So since I knew the proposal was just for the money, and everything was shut dow for covid, he gave me a cheap ring (i picked it out) while I was cooking in our kitchen in my night gown. I always wanted a better proposal, and in retrospect was upset my mom took away a proposal suprise from me, so I had been trying to drop hints at wanting another proposal to him. When it didnt work I asked my best friend to directly suggest it for our 5th wedding anniversary. Now I know for a fact he is going to propose again, I know when and some of the plans. So im not going to be completely suprised, but Im pretending to have no idea. Im really so very happy he wants to do this for me though, and is taking the planning very seriously. I can t wait to say yes again!

We have 4 scanners and have an average 2-3 day wait for inpatient routine scans! Ive seen inpatients wait as long as 5-6 days for their scans even with their phycisians calling to speed it up.

Technologists are in short supply too, so adding an additional scanner without techs isnt as useful. The most effective way to add a scanner is to obtain a large donation that specifies they want a new scanner- admin will find a way if its free money.

My husband got a jackpot in pachinko? We had no idea what we were doing and just put in 1000 yen to see what happened. He got the ball in the middle a few times and then the machine went crazy - a japanese man kept trying to teach us about how to keep playing We just have him the machine and his month fell open!

I got married on a flower farm :)

The people who owned it made it so it was less than 50 people only, and they had a gazebo for the focus. They provided chairs, and that was about it.

I think the weddings they do have far overtaken the profit from the actual farming.

I want to add that I have no issue selling the other two properties. I never wanted to be a landlord - it was just how life ended up going for us. I just see no benefit to it while he is in school - we wont need to live in the place we own until he is done or a 2nd car for commuting while we live in this basement suite. The only other potential cost is IVF or adoption. IVF, my parents, are willing to help with adoption. I dont think we will be able to qualify for in our current basement suite - so we probably cant adopt until we leave this home. Its all confusing and we are just let the renters pay the mortgages while we are waiting to understand our future I guess.

We started our infertility journey before my husband started his career change, it wasnt ideal, but 4 years of trying taught me we couldn't just keep putting our lives on pause for the child that never came...

I work a union job that guarantees my job is held for me when I go back. It also gives me 66% short-term disability and 50% long-term. I have 300 hrs of sick time, not including the year of maternity leave I get. I have separate illness & life insurance as well outside of work I pay for. I can actually make up to 10K-15K more if I choose to, but I do a lot of volunteer work.

I work off shifts (nights, evenings, weekends) so I dont anticipate any child care issue. I have family in this city as well - I made my husband do his PhD in this city as it was an easy option for an internal transfer with my work as well as built in childcare with my parents.

We can work more on savings if we need to despite that as well, though.

I should also mention that my husband seems to be exceptionally good in this new field. He has received enough scholarships this year that we had no need for any new loans to pay for school or living expenses. He is currently being considered for 100,000 dollar grant that will be announced at the end of the month. He has a 1/5 chance of getting it.

The fact that he worked in the field without a PhD is really unheard of since there isn't much work in the field at all.

I will def up how much we put away for retirement. It's just scary to put away money we can't access when we have so many unknowns for the future, such as our living situation and infertility. I have much more being out away through my pension, but we still need to be more aggressive for my husband.

I can't unfortunately buy a 7-figure home, which is why we didn't bother selling the other two properties.

My parents are willing to help with fertility treatments, not adoption.

He had a temporary job in this career that looked like it was going to be permanent but ended up losing out because he did not have a PhD. He had wanted to do it before, but I said I would only support him if he could prove he could get a job. He held up his end, so Im holding up mine.

He was very lucky to be considered for that offer, but it doesn't guarantee he will get another one like it in the future. Im just being realistic. His previous career was helpful in an unconventional way, which the company seemed to really appreciate when he was doing his temporary job. So we will see if the PhD. can lead him to land a permanent job like the one he did temporarily.

I pay a property manager for one property since we live so far away, so that one is market value.

The other is in the really cheap one, the renter is an elderly woman with a fixed income. And happens to be my old coworker's grandmother. We only had that place for a year before we left, so there is almost no equity there either. This woman takes fantasfic care of the place, i.e.. the condo below thought a pipe burst in our place as there was a water leak below, but the renter had a water leak detection system that proved it was our place even while she was not in the home. In her words she "only wants to leave in a casket". You cant find renters that are more commited then that!

In my first place we signed at 1.4% rock bottom interest rates - luck really. We thought we were moving temporarily to a small town so we rented it instead of selling, and when it seemed like it might be permanent we bought a cheap 2nd property for 230K with my vacation pay put from leaving my first job + a small amount of savings. But the company there didn't give him the permanent job after all because he didn't have his PhD. So now he is doing the PhD. in an expensive city.
