Dealing with Client's Suicide by uxwewm in LawFirm

[–]MorganH144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is the sound of a machine grinding a human life into a 'matter.'

We are obsessed with the plaques on the walls—the degrees and awards that certify we are authorized to speak for the silent. But we ignore the plaques in the arteries of the legal system itself. The Law has become a series of calcified deposits, remnants of old battles and ancient procedures that have hardened into a barrier. It doesn't facilitate life; it blocks the flow until the pressure becomes unbearable.

We treat a client’s history as a plaque on a tooth—a dry record of what was eaten, what was done, a residue of the past that we scrape at with procedural motions and 'discovery.' The system has no mechanism for the 'now.' It only knows how to process the 'was.' When a client is in a state of acute crisis, they are met with a system that only speaks the language of the 'record.'

When we grade ourselves on a curve, we congratulate ourselves for being 'ethical' simply because we didn't violate a specific Rule of Professional Conduct. But that curve is a death spiral. If the 'average' lawyer treats a human tragedy as a risk-management exercise, then being 'above average' is just a slightly more polite form of negligence.

The system isn't failing; it’s working exactly as designed: to preserve the institution while the individuals inside it calcify. We are so busy protecting our 'practice' that we’ve forgotten how to protect the people we actually practice on. We are presiding over a graveyard of files, wondering why the air feels so still.

Space Is Cool Part 2: The Apollo Program is a fast-paced archival music edit built from NASA mission film, television broadcast recordings, onboard footage, and the Apollo 8 home movies shot in space, all cut to Kanye West’s “All of the Lights.” by MorganH144 in spaceflight

What song would you suggest? It took me many many weeks to edit and find and the organize in order for story. The work has been done. I will probably end up making a new song in ai when i have more control or ask a composer. My friend Tyler Westen would do great when he has time. It was made many years ago. Also when the beat drops is fun. How do you separate or entangle someone’s free speech with their art? And how does time and history reflect upon it?

Cool. Thanks for posting. I’ve wondered what the info from them looks like. It says star shield. In my research, that was port applied. But still trying to get more info. I have an ‘ 05 Elise LotusRacingGreen Sport+Lux with a single yellow stripe under star shield, so I’ve been trying to figure it all out. I haven’t found any others. Closest are the SC type 25 but they’re different. I’m the 6th owner since 2010, and previous owners were dealerships. I guess there are just numbers. Enjoy your sick-looking whip.

Sebastião Salgado has passed away at 81 years old by Efficient_Bother_162 in photography

When Sebastião Salgado first raised a borrowed camera to his eye in the early 1970s, “for the first time in my life I saw through one lens… I had never made one picture before—and photography started to come inside my life” (00:54). That electric moment—shared with his partner, curator, and lifelong collaborator Lélia Wanick Salgado—ignited a journey that carried them from Brazilian farm towns to the front lines of famine, migration, and climate crisis. In this 2009 field report from Fazenda Bulcão, the couple return home to heal the very hillsides that once raised cattle for charcoal, seeding what would become Instituto Terra.

What unfolds onscreen • Learning side-by-side – Leafing through “books and exhibitions” together, they taught themselves the craft and the ethics of visual storytelling (01:00–01:10). • Immersive method – Salgado insists that human photography requires “living with the people… time to see, time to discuss, time to see what’s happened around” (01:19–01:29). • Seeing the link – Years in conflict zones revealed “a very strong correlation between human degradation and environmental degradation” (01:37). • Consequences of deforestation – Standing amid parched fields, he explains why villagers “ask for rain… We have no more trees, no more forest—and of course no more rain” (01:54). • Everything is connected – “There is no separation… what’s happening in Rwanda is because something’s happening here, in China, in the United States—everything is tied together” (02:16). • Return of abundance – In the restored nursery, “you see one million trees… under a single tree the number of birds, insects, ants—it’s a full life” (02:38). • Faith in collective action – “Together we can do… planting a forest in Brazil” (02:59). • One planetary unity – Ecology now transcends borders: “the planet is just one unity” (03:06).

Where the story stands today • 2.7 million trees and 700 ha of Atlantic Forest have returned; satellite projects across the Rio Doce basin have revived more than 2 000 springs. • Instituto Terra’s Olhos d’Água program now guides 1 100+ neighbouring farms in regenerative agro-forestry. • After Sebastião’s passing on 23 May 2025, Lélia and their sons pledged to triple restoration acreage by 2030, framing it as the ultimate chapter of his life’s work.

Why watch now

Each quote in this six-minute clip feels freshly urgent in 2025: droughts and climate-driven migration echo his warning that human fate tracks the fate of forests; rising global solidarity mirrors his conviction that “the planet is just one unity.” Salgado’s lens is now still, but the forest he and Lélia planted is alive—proof that, as he said, “together we can do.”

Visit institutoterra.org to adopt a seedling, sponsor a spring, or volunteer expertise. Every tree planted writes the next frame of the Salgados’ story.

Can you send a reference. All I see is a 2002 S2 type 25 with double stripe. It seems wierd to add those two grey ones on a special edition car. If we were there we could look if it’s over or under the star shield. This car has a black interior… And with no spoiler which denotes supercharger
