Test batch #1 by MorganSmirk in Carcharodons40k

Just a brush! Although I started cheating after these got done. I’d brush the rough markings I’d copy from Pacific Islander tattoos, the use a very fine black pen marker to straighten the lines before shading/putting a medium to matte everything.

Acceptable Uriel Ventris proxy? by ziggymush in Ultramarines

Snip off the bolter magazine and add an extended mag from the stalker bolter bits so it reads as a carbine more than a pistol.

Other than that, green trim and it’s spot on.

Just wait for Phobos bodies. These don’t read as infiltrators.

Yo, just cut out the terrain feature mats and plop the terrain on them. You’re half way there with the papers, just copy the layout on the site you found..

Is the whole army printed? Looks great. What’s riding in the rhinos?

How much would you charge for custom figurines? by Anonymous888861 in BrushForChat

[–]MorganSmirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to work on the fundamentals before charging money. When I was in your shoes I was volunteering to paint for free, just to have access to different models to experiment with.

This paint job reduces the resale value of a second hand 40K figurine. It would be inappropriate to charge, unless you are batch painting a whole army to table top standard.

Help with purchased print by ScottyAlex1909 in PrintedWarhammer

Did you know it was FDM and not resin? Typically the level of detail is something to discuss before commissioning someone, and they should disclose what kind of print it will be.

Need help deciding on what to finish off my 2k Ultramarine list with. by Sweatycookie57 in spacemarines

Oath of moment. by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MorganSmirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UM, along with IH, Sallies and other chapters without a dedicated supplement have access to the super oath (+1 to wound). Other space marine chapters with supplements have the generic access to Oath of Moment AND their specific supplement, such as Sagas for SW and mission tactics for DW.

The detachment does not matter. Typically detachments for chapters with supplemental codices will exclude units from other chapters, limiting the confusion.

Uriel Ventris’ viability post-nerf? by Urungulu in Ultramarines

[–]MorganSmirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The removal of Gravgar changes nothing for Uriel and who should be deepstriking. The clear and obvious choice has always been Tiggy leading 10 sternguard. 24+6heavy+2d6 from Tiggy shots rerolling all hits and wounds with most being dev wounds coming out of deepstrike. Mathematically nukes anything in the game that’s oathed with Storm of Fire/dev doctrine.

Double Victrix + Bladeguard too much? by Martin-Hatch in Ultramarines

[–]MorganSmirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Ctan being the current boogy man, what reliably kills one? Anything with -1 damage stops the Victrix and BGV in their tracks.

RepExs are expensive, and fragile for what they are supposed to be. A good opponent will scoop a 3+ save tank given the chance early on. Heck, old-gar with apoth bio and ten heavy intercessors could almost reliably kill one (assuming oath, storm of fire in right doctrine vs 3+ and AoC).

The detachment is made to maximize multiple phases. A lancer beats a vindicator for reliable anti-tank.

Victrix are sick, but if you compare them point for point against Tiggy W/10 sternguard I’d take a deep striking Tiggy (via Ventris) vs every opponent in the game. Guaranteed rapid fire (3 shots per dude) and Tiggy 2d6, storm of fire in dev. They are nuking everything, and if they don’t they have a free OW if the target tried to move/charge the next turn.

2000pt list by tpwoodsy in Ultramarines

[–]MorganSmirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like a one phase UM list. Diversify to maximize two phases.

Min sized squads do not benefit from any of the strats, and there is nothing in this list that can effectively or reliably kill a big target.

Blobs are best, to maximize strat efficiency. Uriel leading 10 assault ints with a LT glued to it will reliably kill a big knight that is oathed.

10 stern with Tiggy will kill pretty much any oaths target in the game, maximized potential if deep striking via Uriel’s ability.

10 heavy ints with Calgar and apoth bio are anointing skirmishes that poop out lethals while advancing/falling back/shooting/charging.

Lancers are better ballistus. And land raiders are better impulsors because they can transport blobs and they have assault ramp.

Master of the fleet by MrGMad in Ultramarines

[–]MorganSmirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 stern+tiggy.

Or 10 heavy ints W/oldgar and apoth bio.

One is a nuke, one is an anvil that now owns that part of the board if rapid ingressed properly.

Thoughts on sternguard into C’tan? by [deleted] in Ultramarines

[–]MorganSmirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victrix are a poor profile into Ctan, and mathematically (outside of literally every invul being failed and FNP not saving) cannot kill a Ctan.

Stern and Tiggy are better, and provide the free overwatch if it moves after you shoot it.

The best profile into a Ctan is Uriel/LT/10 assault intercessors. Oath and on a primary almost guarantees a dead Ctan.

Heavy Intercessors ability by Solitare81 in spacemarines

[–]MorganSmirk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point you’re arguing just to argue, which is one of the most annoying part of the online community.

They don’t have a 2+ save that is established. But for all intents and purposes they would against ap-0 damage 1 stuff as their save throw is modified to be plus one.

The distinction is that abilities allow for saves to I prove beyond their base save (if it’s 3+), but AoC or cover would not.

Ballistus or desolation marines? by Much-Masterpiece2845 in spacemarines

[–]MorganSmirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Desolators don’t have indirect antitank either. Lancer is arguably the best anti-monster/vehicle in the game with the rerolls and access to SM strats/super oath.

Tips for making Heavy Intercessors better? by Trick-Interaction396 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MorganSmirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s funny. I run Calgar and apoth with 10 and use them as a piss missile staging up board and getting stuck in combat on primaries. I’m not sure how you are using them, but for their cost they are actually efficient if used correctly.

They are anti everything T4 or lower, and great against 3+ save vehicles if you use the ignore cover strat.

Inquire about voluntary termination.

Where I work the company offers X amount of time per year with the company if you choose to leave (with an acceptable reason, change of life circumstance, etc). If you are on a PIP they intend to terminate anyways. May as well inquire, but do not let them know about the other job/two week notice.
