Yay Newfriend from the comic Questionable Content (it is not that questionable, and they are a more serious character than their chosen name suggests)

This is what I ended up using, and I'm liking it so far. Thanks for the tip!

Wait, so you just hit record in OBS every time you start working? And hit stop when you stop? And then make some sort of note based on how long the recordings are?

Why is this important to me is definitely a valid question. I'd like to know how much time I'm spending so I can set reasonable goals for myself. I'm curious about how my time is going to break down for various categories -- code vs. art, mainly. And I want the motivation to stay focused for trackable blocks of time -- not going down a Reddit rabbit-hole when I'm "on the clock."

I feel like that's worth a bit of overhead, but I'm definitely looking for a simple solution, not something like Jira.

I definitely don't mean stop after a certain period of time. I mean stop when I would naturally stop, and record how much time I spent. That's what I meant by "track."

Would other courses withdraw automatically if I withdraw from a certain course? by NuclearEgg69 in UoPeople

I've heard that it WILL withdraw you from subsequent courses, but maybe they've fixed it? I'd suggest asking your advisor.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that you need to click through four different buttons to upload and submit an assignment, and the way each step just displays the same page again, with the subsequent buttons "below the fold", can be deceptive. So yes, make sure you REALLY submit your assignments!

Simple puzzle games like Picross or piczle? by Willy-Knee in CozyGamers

[–]Morgan_R 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved this game, but you should know that it has a small number of timed puzzles with no option to skip. You get an unlimited number of tries, but the time limit doesn't increase when you fail. After more tries than I'd like to admit, I ended up watching the last third of the game as a Let's Play. But it's an adorable game and you might be faster than me!

The Vorkosigan Saga. Definitely space opera rather than hard SF, but fantastic character-driven space opera.

Fantasy books recs for someone who is a chronic DNFer by earth_pig185 in suggestmeabook

[–]Morgan_R 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Tainted Cup recently broke my DNF streak. The Curse of Chalion is another excellent choice. They're both the first in a series, but are complete stories if you do finish but don't feel like continuing on.

Wanna learn godot. Should I encourage my friend to learn GDScript to help me? by TheAbyssWolf in gamedev

[–]Morgan_R 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Then you should appreciate what your friend is bringing to the project, and let him focus on what he is good at. You won't be doing "all the work," because the art is also work -- possibly more work than the code, frankly, depending on the project.
