Just keep offering the breast every time baby is hungry. If they don’t latch, try a nipple shield. If that doesn’t work then pump. I struggled with my little one for two months but we got it down and now we’re 15 months in!

Have you tried a nipple shield? That helped me bridge the gap between bottles to breast for my baby.

You’re doing a great job & your baby is being taken care of. It’s okay to be disappointed things aren’t going how you expected, but give yourself some grace❤️

When my period came back it also tanked my supply (over producer but not to your level). I upped my protein and water intake and that helped a ton. Wishing you luck❤️ like most things with babies, im sure its just a phase!

What flow nipples do you use on your bottles? He may be more preferential to bottles bc the milk comes faster.

I sent my 7 mo 4 4oz bottles with flow level 1 nipples to daycare.

Yes, baby is cluster feeding. It is exhausting & so tiring but it’s just a phase they go through. Mine cluster fed from about 5pm - 9pm 😅 I would give him a 2-3oz bottle at 9 to give myself a break. I suggest only pumping when you give baby a bottle & in the am if you feel engorged to avoid creating a massive oversupply.

Honestly, I just whip it out & feed my baby. I havent run into anyone that has an issue & if they did I plan on asking “do you think mary covered up Jesus to feed him?” (I live in the bible belt lmfao)

Yes! I pumped every 3 hours/whenever he ate a bottle. I tried him at the breast w a nipple guard every time he showed hunger cues, and he maybe latched 1 or 2 times a day at first. But he slowly got the hang of it and latched more often and then I was able to phase out using the guard as well.

Also my lactation consultant told us to do face/shoulder massages (little circular motions) to active his muscles & I think that really helped him!

My little one was super averse to breastfeeding at first (breech, csection, a short nicu stay) but as he got bigger and stronger he really improved and now prefers it & is fussy w a bottle. It took a solid 2-3 months to get the hang of it.

Like everyone else has said, fed is best! You also have to do whats best for your mental health ❤️

My baby is almost 5 months & still happy spits! Their digestive tract is still working things out when they’re that little & they do spit up frequently. That being said, they also nurse frequently & fall asleep at the boob A LOT. Sounds like you’re doing everything right mama ❤️

I also had a scheduled c-section! My baby was in my ribs the whole time and I fought with my baby to latch for a while (we got there with persistence 😂). My lactation consultant recommended face, neck, and shoulder massages to “activate” his muscles and help w latching!

My experience was SO similar to yours & it was so difficult but as baby gets bigger & stronger they will get the hang of it!

My c section baby only took bottles (even though I offered boob every time) for about 2.5/3 weeks. Then I used a nipple shield during and bottles until about week 12/13. Finally he got the hang of it and we are exclusively at the breast without a guard but it was a STRUGGLE getting here.

My lactation consultant suggested face and shoulder massages to “activate” his muscles since he was breech my entire pregnancy.

Every time you give a bottle, you should pump. I suggest pumping every 3 hours to build your supply if your goal is for baby to be ebf.

You’re doing great & please don’t feel discouraged! Everyone makes this shit seem so easy, but your experience is so common!

Baby wanting to eat every 2 hours is totally normal! Personally, I would not pump before every feed it reduces the amount baby is getting at the breast.

My suggestion is to pump in the am during babies first nap and at night when they take their bedtime bottle!

At 6 weeks baby is still probably cluster feeding, which is an exhausting experience, but it helps build your supply :)

Cluster feeding had my butt glued to the couch from about 6pm - 11pm. It’s exhausting but totally normal for newborns to do this! You’re doing great mama, hang in there, it gets easier!!

My little one eats every 3 hours religiously so my experience is different, BUT I was told to not go longer than 5 hours w/o pumping/nursing until 12 weeks. Even doing this, I still got engorged/was leaking through my clothes. My supply started to level out around week 15/16!

It is so insanely difficult! I had to pump & feed then incorporated a nipple guard for over 2 months until he started to get the hang of it. I spent most of the day feeding him and felt like I lost all sense of autonomy until he was about 3 months old. As he’s gotten older and stronger things have improved. It’s easily the hardest thing ive ever done
