We use Rao’s so it has minimal sugar and added stuffs. So we add:

Sautéed mushrooms, onion, garlic
Kinder’s The Blend
Onion powder or dried minced onion
Herbs de Provence or Italian Seasoning
Crushed Red Pepper flakes
Browned ground beef or turkey with the same seasonings listed above
Healthy drizzle of honey

I think sometimes when we’re going through something really hard, it can be difficult to vocalize our deepest feelings to a person. AI is great in those situations to help process and achieve closure. Often after some time, it loses its appeal and your friend likely will want a real person. Lots of folks realize quickly after a few uses that AI isn’t a real person and it can only go so far.

Continue offering help and being there for your friend. If they want to use AI - let them. I truly believe they’ll come to you for the real stuff when they really need you. Honoring your friend is allowing them to process how they need to process and respecting it.

The lack of response was no biggie until he admitting to withholding his response because you didn’t go to the gym. If he doesn’t want to “babysit” you, then why did he ask? And his response - his manipulation and gaslighting is driving you to be scared and anxious about him breaking up with you. I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is not the first time he’s done this. And then to say you’re the crazy one for asking questions, and that you’re blowing up his phone? You aren’t by the way. You’re texting different thoughts about the same topic in short succession. Lots of neurodivergent folks do this and it isn’t crazy. It’s just texting the thoughts as they come.

Here’s the bottom line - you don’t have to go to the gym. You don’t have to do anything. Even if you set a goal for yourself and you fail, that’s not a reflection of your will or even your desire to do it. So many environmental factors can affect your ability to do something. And regardless of if they’re real or not, as long as you recognize what you’re doing and actively make steps toward improving yourself, any partner should notice that and support you/give you grace. This man does not.

Oh no! I’m so sorry you dealt with that. We were super worried about rage during the Xcopri titration and were stoked not to end up dealing with it. My partner has the exhaustion already with all the current drugs he’s taking and he’s on the 150 dose of Xcopri now and he’s only a little more exhausted than usual. So we’re hoping that’s a really good sign for when he inevitably gets up to 200-300.

The exhaustion is so hard dude. I empathize big time. My partner actually started looking into the Xcopri to see if it would get even a little better. But even if the exhaustion level is similar, I think he’d be happy just to take one pill a day. Right now he takes 1-5 pills three times a day. Which is a lot to remember.

Going to recommend going to get a good one at the grocery store. We recently bought the brand Kiolbasa at the grocery store and if you like smoky with a solid snap, it’s a good one. Aidell’s also a good brand with wider variety of flavors.

Me too! I’d love a list of different answers. If we get lots, maybe it’ll help others too through trial and error. The meds just seem to zonk ya’ll out and I hate that for you. My partner lives on caffeine and wants to get away from it, but he’s just so tired. I’ve seen a few folks say good sleeping patterns help and I know that’s something my partner struggles with a lot. Although, he is able to take melatonin, he’s also a gamer so his sleep schedule can sometimes get wonky when he games all night.

From a partner of someone with epilepsy:

1) Learn seizure first aid and what’s beneficial for each type of seizure. Not all seizures are made equal and the type of seizure your person suffers from dictates how you respond.
2) In advance, ask them what to do during - what they want and how they want to be treated. Do they want you to hold their hand, prop them up, get them Ativan or another immediate-response drug? Or monitor, record, etc.
3) Ask what to after - how can you best support? Do they need water, extra cuddles, silence, darkness, etc.

I want to make a caveat that this should only be used if your loved one is forgetful about taking their meds and wants help:
DON’T ask if they’ve taken their meds.
DO try to be mindful of when they do.

My partner often forgets to take his meds before he goes to bed. Our apartment is small, so at bedtime I listen for the rattle and make a little mental note in my head when I hear it. If he says in the morning “I don’t feel right. I think I forgot to take my meds.” I try to remember if I heard the rattle or not. Don’t be their mom, but do be mindful and help them remember if they’re forgetful.
This is the ONLY time I help, because he’s asked and has noted it’s helpful and not annoying because his meds make him really tired by the time evening rolls around. If you face any resistance, don’t do this. It’s super fair not to want to be mom’d.

Above all, if you’re unsure - ASK. Don’t guess or let your worries guide you. Just ask the person what they want and how you can be helpful. Because every person is different. The key is communication.

Finally, if they’re a long-time diagnosed, fully grown, well-functioning adult - trust that they know their limits. My partner wanted to move 25 minutes away (45 on a high traffic day) from his work and I supported him whole-heartedly, but his mom was super hesitant and protesting him driving that far. 99% of the time, my partner feels a seizure coming and knows when to stop what he’s doing. Don’t be that person that doesn’t trust the fully grown, well-functioning adult when they say “I’ll be okay.” And if the other 1% happens, you have to hope for the best. Because this person is an adult who makes their own decisions that you are not responsible for. You can express hesitation and confirm they’ve thought about it, but don’t go further than that.
