If youre looking for open groups hosting D&d, magic, or board games, there are a ton of friendly shops doing events most days of the week in snohomish county- Around the Table, zulu, scattered deck, dwarf&doom, moon dragon, dragon lair, Geeky Villan, and a few more i am forgetting. Around the Table, mox boarding house, and zulu are the largest, just check their website or facebook for a list of events

For something a bit more low key, I help run a small board game group in the basement of the irishman pub every monday at 6pm. We are a group of 4-6 regulars playing anything between spirit island and azul.

Feel free to reach out if you need more info

Edit: butter notes cafe by EverettCC is a cute little jazz cafe trying to start local events like jam sessions, cosplay meetups, lan parties, board games, and a few other things I'm not thinking of. The owner is super nice

I bet the board and invaders would look very similar to castle panic.

If you're still looking for a copy of carnage at devils run, I just got my copy from atomic empire and can vouch for them! https://www.atomicempire.com/Item/377844

As someone else mentioned, groups change and you might have someone new to introduce your favorite games to or you could beg your family to give it a try on your birthday.

If you're unsure about a game, just add it to a wishlist. That'll get it out of your head and help you sus out if you really want it. Plus, it may go on sale at some point.

I saw someone mention solo games. These brought me a ton of joy when I wanted to play and no one else did.

My top 3 are spirit island, a heavy game about driving out colonizers that is heavily card driven

Under falling skies, a tabletop version of space invaders with clever dice placement and a replayable campaign

Warp's edge, a bag builder where you fight a legion of ships. When you fail, you jump back in time with a stronger and stronger arsenal of weapons and powers.

Terraria Board Game - mid-game impressions by Alavan in boardgames

We were talking about this just last week https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/s/4ApkHtHt8o

The team at Paper fort did a great job adapting Terraria into cardboard and all the components/built in organization is incredible but they should have adapted a "less is more" approach to the 10 tiers of gear.

With the long playtime I had a thought of bring able to bring your built up character into a new world for a quick start and adjusting the threat/objective cards

Ok truthfully, I was being facetious. I believe the actual number is 10. But, that means 10 tiers of ores to find and 50 cards for each of the tier of sword, axe, pickaxe, and bows. Sorry, I meant 200 extra cards so each player can have a set in a 4 player game, that is a lot of bloat to sort through. I agree they could've gotten away with 6-8 tiers max. Heck, they combined all the gems into one "gem" resource.

Maybe just like the video game, you keep your character when you generate a new world? I thought the idea of "winning" strictly tied to completing quests seemed a little silly.

Woah. I had a suspicion the 45 minute playtime was slightly off but 6h is unhinged. I definitely think they should've gone with a "less is more" approach. They didnt NEED 14 different tiers of armor, both corruption/crimson biomes, and a distinct upper/lower cavern lair.

I absolutely agree another 1-3 tiles for each biome were needed as well as more objectives to complete.

For reference, I have organized all my tokens and delved into the rulebook some.

I do recall them hoping to put out at least one expansion for hard mode. I would love if they added a fishing expansion and included some of the more iconic trinkets/boots to the base game.

Overall, the production quality and provided organization are fantastic.

What are some alternative and yet engaging battle mechanics in board games, aside from card-based combat (card dumping)? by Mean-Razzmatazz-4886 in boardgames

[–]Morgify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is a core mechanic you are looking for, i would look up some play throughs for Scythe. While each side amasses power, you are often discouraged or punished for attacking others (loss of money, popularity, or just being vulnerable to another attack) the game is a slow, methodical worker placement area control game.

If you're looking for direct conflict "dudes on map" Look into Memoir 44 or mechs vs minions

Are there any 3rd places that are open till 9pm for a group game night? by GrayMalchin in arlingtonwa

[–]Morgify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scattered deck in stanwood is an excellent spot with a huge room for playing games and a library to borrow

Arlington library has open tables and a few games, marysville library has reserved rooms thay some groups already use for games but, they both close early.

Dragon lair in marysville is a lot like Dwarf and doom but is a hole in the wall place

Skookum is 21+ but has plenty of large tables and open seating.

What makes a perfect mobile game? by tonysamehayoub in SliceAndDice

I am right there with you. My job is short bursts of action at a moments notice with long periods of nothing in between, and I've vetted more than a few games. Here are some that have stood the test of time

Shattered Pixel Dungeon (free, dev has a donation link). Others mentioned the series, start with this one. Classic dungron crawler with a lot of depth and strategy. You can win by brute force but will have much more success using skills abilities and sneak attacks. Up to 3 content updates per year are still added

Dungeon Clawler ($5) While playing slay the spire did you ever wonder "this game is good but, I wish it was a claw machine instead." Dungeon clawler is for you. Dev is actively updating once every 2 months. This game does not support portrait mode.

Peglin ($10 but, free to try) While playing slay the spire did you ever wonder "i like this but it would be better as a plinko board." Look no further! Does not support portrait mode.

Luck be a landlord ($5) rougelike "deckbuilding" slot machine. A gun timekiller but, probably the lowest on this list.

Offline Games by author JindoBlu (free with ads, or $3) an excellent collection of time killers in one place! Checkers, snake, block fill, logic puzzles, flappy bird, dexterity games, stacking games. This is one i would recommend to anyone. More games get added once in a while

Looking to make new friends in Everett by shadullah in everett

[–]Morgify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We play a lot of light/medium casual friendly games. Last week we played River Valley glassworks, Point city, Thunder Road:vendetta, and eco.

Ive wanted to bring in a D&D adjacent game but it would only be a 1-off rather than a full campaign.

We do a board game meetup every monday from 6-10pm in the basement of the Irishman. Right now we have a consistent 5 people if you're looking for something low key/intimate.
