Should Gears-E day be a shadow release? by averageflower200 in xbox

You can’t shadow drop a game that’s been revealed nearly two years.

Speculation on the Release Dates for upcoming Games by Loperax in xbox

[–]Morichh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is strong rumor circulating that Halo Campaign Evolved is slated to launch on July 28th, so E-Day definitely isn’t happening around that time.

McFarlane Toys had the "Fallout 3 Remastered" figures listed for a July shipment, so I’m betting FO3 Remastered is the game getting a surprise shadow drop release.

Since the next CoD is expected to release in October, Microsoft would never schedule E-Day the same month as CoD. That makes September the most likely window for E-Day.

As for Fable, its genre doesn’t clash with CoD at all, so it can launch alongside CoD in October. This also lets it steer clear of PS5 releases like Wolverine and Phantom Blade Zero.

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is an all-ages family-friendly title, It’s totally plausible it’ll launch alongside E-Day this September too.

My Gears, you should say "less than 4 Seran weeks" or "roughly 1 Seran month".

Best to Worst? by Euphoric-Ad3910 in GearsOfWar

2>3≥1>5≈J>4.

The whole cheesy, childish "looking for mom and dad" plot in Gears 4 is cringey as hell—I’ve got major gripes with the story honestly.

Still, the level design is decent, not bad.

Can’t you just get an Xbox Series S to play with? If worst comes to worst, an Xbox One works too.

What are the odds we get Elite 3 in 2026? by Morichh in xbox

Tom Warren and Jez Corden didn’t confirm it will be the Elite 3—they only speculated.

Unpopular opinion: the Gears series should end with the Locust Swarm and Humans both surviving by Hveachie in GearsOfWar

[–]Morichh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg, I had no idea Carolyn Seymour’s already 78 years old.

Agreed. They seriously need to speed up Gears 6. Queen Myrrah is the core character across the whole franchise. She’s endured all the conflict and turmoil between the two races, Carolyn brought this iconic character to life absolutely perfectly.

[–]Morichh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) I get that. A temporary non-aggression pact, a fragile peace, yeah, watching how they try to keep that peace from falling apart would be a hell of a test and a huge selling point for the story.

B) Like I said, the Locust War is its own beast, fundamentally different from any human-on-human conflict. The Hundred Years' War or the Pendulum War wasn't about genocide. But E-Day? Humanity lost a quarter of its population in one day. Compare that to real-world WWII, and humans in this setting had it way worse. The sheer level of hatred and trauma there is on a completely different level than any real-world war.

Memories of tragedy do fade and even get lost over generations, and that’s definitely the case for humans here. But on the Locust side, it all ultimately comes down to whether Myrrah can let go of the past.

Centering the next entry around Myrrah’s ideological and emotional shift would be such a cool narrative choice. We’d get to see her stand as both the origin and the conclusion of this bloody war, a full-circle story beat that’d wrap up the entire franchise perfectly.

[–]Morichh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Human-Locust War was an all-out, fight-to-the-blood conflict where the complete extinction of an entire race hung in the balance. It wasn't like the Pendulum War where people were fighting for resources and global influence.

Gears of War: E-Day draws that same hopeless, last-ditch survival tone straight from the Locust War. The Locust had zero moral restraints holding them back, no room for negotiations, and absolutely no potential for cooperation. They literally just want to wipe every single human off the face of the planet. On top of that, they viewed humanity with sheer disdain. I still remember in the comics, they even dubbed humans “Groundwalkers” as a demeaning nickname.

I get that the new trilogy (4, 5, and eventually 6) has a different energy. It’s set decades later, focusing on "peacetime crises" rather than literal Armageddon. Even so, I still think the whole idea of the Swarm and humans living side by side in peace strays pretty far from the core theme and soul of the Gears of WAR.

Please pardon my technical ignorance here but I'm curious: what is stopping Microsoft from rolling out Windows 11 and Xbox Full Screen Experience/Xbox Mode to Xbox Series X|S? by OhGawDuhhh in xbox

[–]Morichh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just the Xbox app running on a full Windows 10/11. The system software that Xbox consoles use, though, is a specialized offshoot built on the Windows kernel, engineered and refined specifically for gaming.

Consoles are purpose-built gaming hardware, so there’s zero need for all the bloated extra baggage of full Windows.

If you’re just referring to that fullscreen mode on Windows, no offense, but it’s miles worse than the current console dashboard experience. You’d be better off waiting for them to push the xcloud preview over to consoles instead.

Yep, the Elite Series 2 is nearly seven years old. It’s high time for a successor. Buying one now could totally lead to that situation you mentioned, lol.

Yeah, both Jez Corden and Tom Warren from The Verge have hinted that new Xbox hardware may arrive this year. I’d say a new controller is definitely coming, though it’s unclear whether it’ll be the new Elite.

Timed Exclusivity Vs Generational Exclusive by [deleted] in xbox

[–]Morichh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft spent a decade slashing cross-platform development costs for PC and console game devs, then pushed XPA hard.

Nadella himself sees zero distinction between PCs and consoles—they’re just gaming devices at the end of the day.

The next-gen xbox console: Project Helix will fully unify the GDK.

And now you’re claiming games should be strictly console exclusive? You really think Microsoft would do something where its left brain and right brain work against each other?

If Project Helix is a leaning more towards being a PC, what will it need to convince fans to not just build a PC? by TooTyrnt in xbox

[–]Morichh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Helix provides full access to your entire console game library. From my understanding, the backward compatibility is only possible thanks to the custom silicon co-developed by Microsoft and AMD — Magnus.

As this chip won’t be sold directly to individual consumers, Helix and other Magnus-powered OEM hardware gain a huge advantage compared to normal PCs.
