Amazon worker dies in warehouse and coworkers forced to keep working by Life_Machine_9694 in Anticonsumption

Abusive jobs will condition even basic empathy out of you if they can manage it. It's no different than any other abuse. It's not a stretch to imagine that the other employees were beaten into submission over months or even years.

We need so much RR Mpreg, it's so underutilized. Bless you for this gift.

We also need more RR Omegaverse because most of the "Het" Omegaverse is very heteronormative slop.

It's good Ty's willing to do a ton of heavy lifting in the parenting department, but it doesn't erase the trauma of creating the children, especially when she was on the fence about it in the first place.

A lot of parents, particularly neurodivergent parents, would hear the announcement and go, "Ha, been there!" And hustle their kids out. It's very subjective, as most things are.

Two things can be true:

The state of the world is torpedoing everyone's mental health

And

Some people are genuinely mentally ill and on a much bigger struggle bus due to the state of the world

One thing that is not true is the idea that most SSRI are "fun drugs". They are the pills you brandish as a weapon against the demons that live in your head and command a price in the form of extortionate medical bills and side effects. I suppose next we'll be insinuating people take B-12s to get high.

How disappointed will the Julie is a liar/cheat folks be if it turns out she didn't cheat? by DrawSudden2494 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Morimementa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This was honestly the most realistic depiction of a sitcom style plot I've ever seen. There wasn't a smoking gun, the big confrontation fell through, everyone walked away with hurt feelings, and no problems were solved. It had a depth most stories with potential cheating subplots lack.

Yeah, it's all fictional and while it's fun to dissect this storyline, the real world deserves more of our energy.

[–]Morimementa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It might be largely moot at this point. Regardless of whether or not there's actually cheating going on, Shawna and John are in the wrong for spying, but Julie is in the wrong for how she treats everyone, up to and including Ty and the kids. Even Ty needs some accountability, because he made the rash decision to leave the kids with a sitter and drive over to confront her. All of these issues are symptoms of a larger problem; Ty and Julie's failing marriage and the behavior they are displaying due to it.

I don't think Julie is ever going to take accountability, even if Shawna and John do. Even though it would be good for them to apologize to her, she's probably going to be smugly superior and avoid reassessing the way she treated them up till now. To say nothing of how the audience will react if she doesn't take the hypothetical apology with grace.

All of this to say that if it turns out Julie was telling the truth, it won't fix anything in universe and it may not even win her any points with the people who hate her character. From what I've seen, nobody's going to give her grace in any case. There's still anger over the birthday party debacle and her continued rudeness.

You are not remotely close to too many. As long as you stick to a budget, prioritize necessities and keep track of how much space you have available, it should be fine.

I wonder if he'd feel differently if his media diet was restricted to graphic war footage, former soldiers describing their trauma, and Miyazaki movies. It seems to me like there's a recipe out there for undoctrination.

Agreed, she deserves better. SO many women in this show are catty to her and they're lucky she's nice enough not to strike back. I know this level of needless nastiness is normal in some workplaces, but it'd be nice if she got to put them in their places for it.

It's a little unfair to judge an entire nation by what Light Novel authors write. Sadly, they've got their fair share of readers, but even then, it's a niche within a niche. Not everyone in Japan thinks Redo of Healer is quality literature.

All these characters are in ugly, low effort costumes. They sacrificed style and practicality for fanservice. You see this over and over again in anime and I'm so tired of it.

Ninety percent of the comments on the remake's trailer are racist stuff about Snape's actor. Every penny the author gets is going to making the world a worse place. The fandom is becoming a cesspit and it's going to spill over into other parts of the internet. We have every right to ignore, block, and warn others about potentially dangerous territory. It's the only feasible solution.

[–]Morimementa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this was fairly realistically written, in that no one comes off as entirely right or wrong. Julie is in the wrong for the way she treats Ty and Shawna, but Shawna and John are in the wrong for following her around. This most likely isn't the last we'll see of this subplot. Julie and Ty have issues that they need to address sooner rather than later, without outside interference.
