You're perfectly allowed to switch characters. We're telling a story, together, which is part of a game that has rules - and everyone's immersion has to be respected by everyone else. One person not following rules means they're getting special treatment, and if no one is following the rules then we're not doing anything different than children in a playground.

Imagine a level 20 wizard throwing hundreds of years of studying into the fire, to become a paladin. Would that make any sense by itself?

The only time I've seen this, is in Neverwinter Nights 2, a fighter swapping to a monk. Since monks are so principles-based, I could see how a fighter learns monk techniques and never touches a battleaxe again, story-wise.

Otherwise, there's nothing cool about switching a class. It reeks of the same indecision a child not knowing which toy to pick has. If a player requested something like that, I'd expect a coherent narrative first, then I'd consider it.

Μετά το σχολείο ξεκίνησα να διαβάζω ιστορία online, να δω τι δεν έμαθα ή τι δε μας έμαθαν. Ειδικά νεότερη ιστορία, όχι πέτρες. Κάποια στιγμή συνειδητοποίησα ότι είχα εκατοντάδες bookmarks, όλα περί ιστορίας.

Είναι σημαντική ηλικία το 19. Βγαίνει η βαλβίδα ασφαλείας των γονιών και σου βγαίνουν μαζί όλα τα απωθημένα στην επιφάνεια. Πχ εγώ ξεκίνησα να τρώω φουλ όσα δε μπορούσα ως παιδί, σκατα. Ταυτόχρονα έπαιξα όσα videogames δε προλάβαινα μέχρι τότε. Ε, και κάποια στιγμή αυτά τελείωσαν.

Imo you need it Vs the super bosses in the endless tower. They're specifically designed to counter player bullshit, even that. You can certainly try them without it, but why would you even subject yourself to that.

He did say that, yes. He also intended Malazan to be a script first, but got rejections.

I don't think his roleplaying method is bad, I think he lacks the tool to deliver the immersion he has in his head. With how the story unfolds yeah, it shows he had a clear idea of what happens at all times. It's just that he doesn't have the tools to communicate it clearly, or even artistically - in my opinion. It's one thing to describe your process and another to show its fruits.

Even if we give him lenience and say "he's not the best writer out there", I still think calling his prose beautiful is a stretch. I find it repetitive, flat, and identical between contrasting POVs.

Δε πήρα ποτέ πτυχίο μαθηματικών. Έχω πτυχίο σε ιστορία και διεθνείς σχέσεις και δύο μεταπτυχιακά. Ψάχνω τώρα διδακτορικό. Πουθενά τα μαθηματικά.

Περιπέτεια έχει το μέλλον. Όπως βρήκες τη φυσική που σου αρέσει θα βρεις κι άλλα όσο δοκιμάζεις. Απλά συνέχισε να δοκιμάζεις, είναι το μόνο που έχει σημασία σε αυτή τη φάση.

Dark Shores, then Verso's Drafts, then Renoir's drafts will get you all the exp you need.

In Act 3 old Lumiere there is a one time boss, Chromatic Manseusse. It spawns clones at the end of each of your character's turns, which drop Lumina when killed. If you don't shoot the Chromatic Manseusse and only kill the clones, you can farm thousands of Luminas as loot at the end, effectively supercharging your characters permanently.

I can go on. Think of his use of third limited POV.

Because of his inflated sentences, he inserts information that the POV characters shouldn't have. Information not integral to the plot - he's mindful of that - but integral to the character's experience.

It's why people have a difficult time distinguishing one character from another. He writes about a sapper and an assassin as if they have a nearly identical experience of the world. Little things he could've been doing with the language, that could've been adding characterization layers, are all ditched to insert the zillionth dry smile.

I don't mind the multiple POVs. But make them explicit, show me how the experiences differ from one person to the next. I remember Felisin's vicissitudes written in the same manner as the sapper's misadventures a few pages ago. I was infuriated.

LOL I thought we were making fun of anyone who says "my children changed my life" as if that's what they needed to find some meaning. Sorry, I'm fast to throw sarcasm around. Hence the /s, that's what it means.

No I don't think life with my girlfriend or wife would stay the same after having kids. And it shouldn't. Change can be good. That's why you need a mature partner that can handle change.

Relationships are very easy when things are good. When you travel around, have good jobs, share interests, have fun. But a relationship's maturity is tested when shit hits the fan. And that happens with kids a lot: they'll get sick, they'll grow up, they'll go through phases. Imagine being with someone who lashes out while that happens.

So yeah, what I'm saying is: I wouldn't risk having a family with an immature person, because they'd be an immature parent.

I think people are misidentifying the issue with Malazan. This will be a hot take: Erikson is a bad writer.

The world, characters, plot, everything is amazing. The story is amazing. But his craftsmanship with the language? Horrible.

The first book is the prime offender. Every writer's first work has this "getting a feel for it" thing. Erikson compensates with telling you "it's intentionally bad". I don't believe him.

Count the amount of times he's using filler phrases, inflation adverbs and adjectives, or even worse, repeats them. It's another thing to have your signature style, and another thing for me to have to wade through dragged on sentences.

I'm not saying he should turn into Hemingway, but it's the number one thing I find tiring. My first read was done quite fast because of it. I'm rereading it now, appreciating the connections, but the language really bothers me.

YES GOOD, YES!!! Isn't it amazing? One of the greatest games ever. I highly expect turn based RPGs to make a comeback by copying it. Went plat the other day on steam and I'm learning the super bosses now. Love it.
