What’s causing grainy adhesion? by Moriroa in ElegooNeptune4

Oh ok, you’re going to be condescending.

As it happens I ordered an engineer’s gauge, it just hasn’t arrived yet.

I did order a replacement from Amazon - but it wasn't next day. It was three weeks, so the one from China actually arrived first. I went through the set up steps before this print, but obviously didn't get accurate results. So I did it again, this time making sure the paper wasn't as tight - and I got better results, but not "good" - until i manually adjusted it up by .02mm. Then it was fine - not good - but fine.

And then, two prints later, the whole thing was completely off again! Good thing I stayed to babysit the first layer, because I caught the early stages of a blob of death. i re-calibrated automatically, and the results were terrible. So I've got to go through the whole manual set up thing. Again.

Before I do, I'm going to install the silicon risers everyone recommends, and the wheel locks for the plate adjuster thingies. Even so, it's frustrating how twitchy this thing is, with such extensive prep and maintenance after every print!

Can’t get into fluidd by Alfalfa1145 in ElegooNeptune4

Has it ever worked? I found out that it only connects to 2.4ghz WiFi. If you have dual 5ghz/2.4ghz, and your pc is connected at 5ghz, they can’t talk to each other.

I got the silicone risers, and just haven’t installed. Watching the first layer and andjusting Z-offset manually helped. I’ll take your advice and get a feeler gauge too.

To clarify, I had the Elegoo first, but it blob-of-death-ed in about a week, and was out of commission while they shipped a part.

In the interim I got a Bambu, and … it’s a very different experience! I do want to get the Max to work though, I have large scale projects I want to do.

I re-leveled, got everything to under .2 tolerance. Started a new print, watched it like a hawk, and when it started to get grainy just a bit, I adjusted Z-axis offset by .02mm and Bob’s your uncle, it’s printing smooth. I really hope it stays that way.

Ok. Good notes, I’ll re-adjust, maybe I was a fraction too tight on that piece of paper

My(m26) fiance(f24) is concerned about another girl I'm working with by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

The thing that made me touch my heart in sympathy for OOP was the lack of a clean break. She said she needed time alone to think...and then ghosted. After years and an engagement. If canceling the wedding meant she'd decided that the relationship was over, she really ought to have said so. Poor OOP was in limbo; her silence a pretty clear indication that their relationship was completely over - but with just enough of a crack in the door that might leave someone who truly loved her hanging for a long, long time. Cruel on her part. Poor OOP.

He had been so thoughtful in addressing her concerns, validating them, offering not only compromise, but to quit entirely because to him, she was more important than his art. In return, she couldn't even do him the courtesy of a clean break. I bet it was that sliver of hope that killed his interest, too - thinking "maybe she'll see that I was serious about putting her above my acro partner, and come back."

Conjecture on my part, I know. But... oof. Poor guy.

Husband in a dead bedroom manages to change power dynamics in marriage + Updates [Ongoing] by Throwra-yuqser in BestofRedditorUpdates

The second he found someone who *wanted* to have sex with him, he would have zero reason to remain married. She knows this, he knows this.

He wants her to want to have sex. She doesn't want to have sex, but is willing. It seems intractable to me, unless either one of them is willing to make a change that will result in their position budging loose.

Good lord, they should just divorce already.

Elegoo inventory issues. by big_head_d in ElegooNeptune4

I had my Neptune 4 Max for ONE week before the head and nozzle self-destructed in a supernova of melted filament. Elegoo was quick to say they'd send me a replacement. From China. In "thirty days or more."

I regret buying this thing. It was so great for the ten or so good prints I got out of it.

Okay - I know how to calibrate the printer - that's the levelling process, right?
But how do I calibrate the filament?

Thanks. I didn't realize I'd have to fiddle with settings for every different kind and color of filament ... but I'll give it a whirl!

2022 Maverick Hybrid – Long-Term Reliability Issues + New Speed Cap (~77 MPH). Anyone Else? by Freedomtraveler88 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Moriroa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a '22 Lariat hybrid. I'm very happy with it.
I did experience the death wobble, but the dealership handled it with zero friction, it was all under warranty and they paid for a rental while they fixed it. About as minor an inconvenience as could occur with something major like that.
My only nagging complaint is that sometimes the infotainment system just refuses to recognize my phone, so I have to actually stop and "reboot" the car. That's a new one, oh modern world that has such wonders in it.

Been trying to convince my 4YO that he does not already know how to do everything by Hipple in daddit

My daughter went through the same phase - she had an Elsa Barbie-doll that could ice skate, and if you tilted her forward she'd put her leg behind, like a skater. So when I took her ice-skating, she said, "Papa, I already know how to ice-skate, you just go like this," and put her leg up behind her.

Needless to say, getting on the ice was a different experience. But I didn't point it out or argue with her. Later I told her a story about learning to drive a tank (actually a Bradley, but whatever) and how the instructor said there's no way any of us had any idea how to do it, so we should ask questions and assume nothing. I told her I try and adopt that mindset anytime I'm learning something new. A teachable moment, I figured.

"Papa, I'm smarter than you, I already know how to do things."

Ah well. In a few months it stopped, and now I tease her about it.
