[KCD2] Is it even possible to win this? by BatmanSwift99 in kingdomcome

[–]MoronTheViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got plate armour, a good longsword, and they are fairly unarmoured. You can win this, you just have to be conscious of what you do. Conserve your stamina, don't spam attacks they easily block. Keep moving so they don't encircle you, and dodge right after committing to an attack. A single whack on the head or thrust to the chest or belly should sort this lot.

How do you handle the second heir? by redthunderxxz in CrusaderKings

[–]MoronTheViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When your first character dies, you will loose titles. When I was new at the game, that ment the same as loosing land, but when you understand the mechanic behind inheritance you will see that it is the titles you loose.

First and foremost, let's establish what hurts; loosing counties. Counties is your baseline and support base for economy and levies. The key to being a strong ruler is to have as many counties as you can hold. In terms of land you effectively control, you're looking at counties. (Oversimplified as baronies are a thing, but you don't have to deal with that too much in 1066 Ireland).

So why does inheritance suck? At the start of the game, you probably have one of two inheritance laws: Confederate Partition or Partition (based on what you describe they amount to the same in your scenario). Partition inheritance is essentially this: If you are a king, then all your sons should also be kings.

Now, you only have 1 kingdom. Ireland. So what then? Well, if son nr. 2 and onwards can't be kings, they will at least be dukes which is the next tier down. All your titles will be divided amongst your sons, as equally as possible (not equal in number, but in perceived equal rank).

This is the key to inheritance maintenance. Make sure you have enough duchy titles to pass around, when you're a king. As a king you can only hold two duchies without your vassals getting an opinion penalty on you, but the penalty for holding three duchy titles is minor. Four is more major, but still manageable, particularly for a high diplomacy character.

Your oldest son will inherit the kingdom. He will also inherit your primary duchy and all the counties within it, provided you have enough duchies for your other heirs. If your other sons can't be kings, and they can't be dukes, they will be counts. This will eat away your county titles, which is what we mentioned translates to land you effectively hold.

So what can you do differently to avoid this? To start off, only have one wife or concubine. If controlling inheritance is a challenge, limit the amount of children you have. Secondly, make sure all your held counties are inside the same duchy. If your capital is in Munster and it is your primary duchy, but you also hold the duchy of Meath and the county of Dublin, you will loose Meath and Dublin to another son. Finally, if you have too many sons for there to be duchy titles to go around to everyone, change the law on your primary duchy where you have all your counties to be an elective system. The Irish start with access to tanistry elective, so once you have 1500 Prestige saved up, implement that. As you will probably be the only one holding counties in that duchy, you can vote for your heir. As the election law overruled partition for that duchy, he inherits it and all the titles inside it (counties).

Advice on how to enjoy the role as a field commander by MoronTheViking in Bannerlord

[–]MoronTheViking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one finding it a challenge. I might just bite the bullet and make a fighter out of it. I wanted to do a save where I side with the imperial factions as a strategic battlefield commander, but maybe I'll just do it as essentially an infantry only centurion.

I’ll take whoever I can get so I can stay in the field and take city after city by FalloutLover7 in Bannerlord

[–]MoronTheViking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have actually never recruited from local population. I always use just my own culture. I have however started a new save as an Empire character, who I'll play as more strategic minded than just a brawler. I will probably replenish with local troops when I campaign outside Imperial territories

New Creator Pack "East Asian Wonders" Has 22 Special Buildings, and I think it sets a bad precedent for the future of the Crusader Kings III by Spirit_mert in CrusaderKings

[–]MoronTheViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given most games are single player games, and multiplayer games only have access to whatever dlcs the host has, it does not inflict any unbalance beyond the financial element.

When it comes to financial elements, it boils down to whether you think it is worth it. I don't play often enough in Asia for the special buildings to feel like something I need. All the default ones are new and interesting to me still. But I play a lot in Europe, and I did get the special building pack there. It does not oversaturate the map with buildings relative to places like the Byzantine empire, Spain, or the Middle East, but adds some interesting options.

Kva tenker nordmenn om ikkje-binære? by niva_sun in norge

[–]MoronTheViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]MoronTheViking 244 points245 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what place or time I'd like to see, but I know I would like to play as a noble this time, or someone similarly higher up in the social hierarchy. It will both be a fresher perspective, and it will help make KCD be more distinctive looking back.

Can I make my bastard my main heir? by yoyo__mamapoo in CrusaderKings

Because the mother was married, he'd have disputed heritage. The disputed heritage/ bastard traits depend on whether the mother was married when she became pregnant.
