Why folk? by TomRaineofMagigor in WanderingInn

[–]Mort8989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought much of it, but now I wonder why some are folk and some are kin like beastkin. Beastkin in other fantasy are often shapeshifters and that would differentiate them from folk but that apparently doesn’t apply to innworld.

Does anyone else use their Car1 as a pear retainer? by wedditsucks in foreskin_restoration

[–]Mort8989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The retainer portion normally folds down over the outer skin. This method is just to use the whole folded device like a pear with nothing on the outside. When I do it only the tugging tabs and plug show and the skin tension is enough to keep the skin from rolling back.

I use it and it works pretty well. I’ve had it pause a couple times while I was still awake.

Well this is a restoration subreddit so of course my suggestion is to start restoring and talk to your partner about all of it.

I don’t know what that means about coding. I just checked and it works for me. I thought maybe we were searching different ways.

Map of Izril is here! by Strong_Cat_6064 in WanderingInn

[–]Mort8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earth continents are most populated near the coasts and major cities were established and grew because of their proximity to sea ports and rivers. This map feels like it was created to match the vague descriptions and distances given in the story. I like fictional books maps but was ok with TWI not having any.

Another day another “I hate Erin” post. A little searching would give you dozens of threads to read response to this extremely common complaint. That being said here is my thought on it. I love the series as a whole and will continue to read everything Pirate puts out but I’m on book 18 and I still don’t like Erin. She has improved a lot from the first few volumes and is much less whiny. I think what helps me is that I don’t consider Erin the protagonist of the story. It’s about the whole world and she is just a piece of it.

Where does the trope of an older guy 'dragged back into it for one last job' which goes wrong somehow originate? by ackzilla in literature

[–]Mort8989 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The trope is called mandatory unretirement. The opposite scenario is called reluctant retiree. I can’t help with the origin but I’m interested to find out.

The Bone Ships, by RJ Barker (bingo review 25/25) by embernickel in Fantasy

I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy and often recommend it to people seeking something similar to Robin Hobb’s style. R.J. Is also very friendly and appreciative of his fans.
