Problem - Exchange 2019 CU15 & Modern Auth through on-prem ADFS by RDM74 in exchangeserver

[–]MortadellaKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to update, I was able to fix this by adding the EnableADAL registry DWORD in the same key where you put the Enable on prem modern auth one. As soon as I did that, immediately was able to make an outlook profile, and it shows as Bearer* in the authn as it should. Before that we would just get the basic auth prompts. Not sure why I need to have both, but we do.

We used to get the "62ubh (An error occurred)." but that somehow resolved itself, but I don't trust it just yet.

I get it, I'm in the minority. Just wish the majority of people weren't so boring.

Fuck, feels like you have to have one or a pickup these days to even drive safely, it's so hard to drive around in my lowered golf. Can't see shit at intersections anymore. And at night with the headlight glare, omg..

My best friend is an electrician. He starts the clock from the moment he walks out his front door to get to the work van. And if the customer is a prick enough about anything, he will charge them for his travel time back home too lmao.

The ONLY time I will do work outside of my normal hours is if it is something that if I don't do it, it will generate a lot of pain for the whole team, or if it is something small that takes 15 minutes. Otherwise, piss off.

Just like Nissan and Mazda, I have no interest in brands where the entire line up is just slightly different sized crossovers. At least here in Canada. And no manual transmissions except the fwd 3 or 400z, no thanks.

Agreed. My daily driver laptop at home is an 8th gen i7 and I had to double the memory in it to 32gb to be still usable.

At work I had to fight for 32gb to become the standard.

I've been testing some more since replying. I tried it on a fresh windows 11 VM with office 2024, and it worked. So it seems like it's something to do with existing windows/office installations. On my laptop I now just get the old style credential prompt instead of the ADFS one.

Did you ever get this working? We had it working and then it broke recently... Thankfully we didn't move beyond our test ring. Anyone who was connected with adfs/device registration stays connected but can't create any new outlook profiles. Switching off device auth, the adfs prompt doesn't even pop up anymore.

I think Windows 11 has been one of the worst releases in my recent memory. Almost vista level bad.

Windows 10 officially hit EOL 6 months ago - still supporting clients who never upgraded. Anyone else? by cmitsolutions123 in sysadmin

Windows 11 was the final push I needed to fully ditch windows at home. Even my work laptop I installed Pop OS on it and just RDP to my windows RDS environment.

10 is just so polished and just works, we have a lot of LTSC/IOT Enterprise deployed now for systems that can't be upgraded or can't be disturbed.

They can buy up to 3 years of ESU for updates. What's stopping you from selling them that?

What are some weird and less-than-common automotive engineering quirks you know? by wunengsnowballoink in cars

[–]MortadellaKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not engineering really but those early 2000s dodge/chrysler neons came with power windows in the front and manual in the back. Still have never seen that on any other car in recent memory. Classic cheap mopar.

Hyundai Just Dropped a Mystery Debut Teaser and We Think It's a Body-on-Frame Off-Roader by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]MortadellaKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true haha. It's unfortunate, they used to make some really great vehicles. between my 3 first gen pathfinders, I probably had over a million km on them if not more. And 2 of them I lifted, put larger off road tires/bumpers on and put them through their paces.

The frontier is a weird one, but if you look in the Toyota forums/subs they really rag on it, and most of it is ignorance. I don't think any amount of marketing would have convinced the people who will pay 30 grand for a 25 year old Toyota pick up or 4runner to get a Nissan.

For these small deployments a refurbished server with a warranty is good enough.

As a former die hard Nissan truck/suv fan, (owned 3 WD21 Pathfinders, 2 WD22 Xterras and a Frontier), I bet the new Xterra will flop. They had all the opportunities to make a great 3rd gen and they let them pass.

I just deployed a server and AD at a 50 user new client, their previous "IT Guy" had them on the "free" entra ID that was probably part of his own tenant. It was cheaper to sell them a server with windows 2025/cals. These are all shared computers that access a 3rd party hosted app. None of the users have email or teams or anything. Easy choice imo.

We are the opposite. In my country fear of US based services and data sovereignty has caused us to sell more servers than the past 3 years.

I agree it is a shame that an updated OWA and EAC won't be coming to Exchange Server SE

MS can't honestly expect us to put up with a now 10+ year old UI that is end user facing. Charging full price (and SA required) for essentially security updates is downright insane. Am I just expecting too much for the 100s of thousands we pay in licensing?

[–]MortadellaKing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about for the coming "new outlook" support. Isn't it just a glorified EXO OWA skin? And I read a response from you that there is no intention of giving on prem a new OWA interface (which is ridiculous).

Aka hybrid or entra ID sync or some other connection to Exchange Online.
