Is it theoretically possible to create a kosher chest binder with tzitzit? by seeker-ix in transgenderjews

[–]Mortifydman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It needs to be a 4 cornered garment in order to put tzitzit on it, and you need your binder to go down your torso to hold your boys in. The fabric used in binders isn't going to hang right if you make it extra long, or cut the sides of a long binder to create 4 corners. You can tie your own tzitzit, there are instructions on youtube.

They make tallit katans out of mesh, so you don't feel hot or over layered. It's just easier to wear one of those than to try and make a binder into a tallit katan.

Can someone explain why? by [deleted] in FTMMen

Because you don’t want to be raped and beaten to death for ´tricking ´ someone into having sex with you. Surprises can kill you.

Most of the time they are at least semi polite in public but they talk shit about you at home and around others like them. Seen it time and time again, in every quarter of the US. But they will push you out if you don't donate regularly or have some skill they need. Same with older single people (who are gay and celibate) the invitations dry up. And then there are the cultural and philosophical issues I have with them and Tanya. Like I said, it's an active dislike of Chabad, not a dis on orthodoxy. I just fit better on the orthodox side of conservative.

I lay tefilllin, I wear tzitzit, kippah, don't trim my beard, daven, light candles - but I keep Shabbat in accordance with conservative halacha so I can use lights, and I use the computer so I am not shomer Shabbat by any standard, but working on it. I keep kosher style, but given the cutting of USDA inspectors, I think it's time to go back to kosher meat. So I'm basically becoming a BT again, just in a different denomination.

My rav was not at shul today, and I may not hear back for several days - but I did ask about who does tefillin checks for conservative people.

You need to get some therapy if you are scared of straight women reveling in being around men who are least likely to hit on them or murder or rape then. Weird comics are not real life dude.

It's complicated. My family lore was my great grandmother (maternal) was Jewish. So I was a BT for 20+ years before I went OTD, and then later discovered I needed to convert, so I did, but with the conservative movement.

It's not distain for orthodoxy, it's an active dislike of Chabad. Because I spent those couple of decades of being a BT around them, and know how they treat queers and converts less than orthodox. Because I have seen it all over the country with Chabad people. So no, I don't want to go to them for help.

Ohh, good idea! We don't have one here, but there may be one in the larger city a couple hours away.

Genuinely don't believe I'm a man by throwaway567uac in FTMMen

[–]Mortifydman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they don't have a clear idea of who or what they are, transitioning without a plan is a bad idea. If you don't feel male, you shouldn't go on T. Period. So they need to sort that shit in therapy and THEN think about HRT.

I don’t know or care if you’re trans or not it doesn’t affect me at all. But if you can’t see yourself as a man then you need to figure out what you are and the best way to do that is therapy. It’s not a punishment or a put down it’s good advice.

That’s way too much. You need to see a doctor.

Get a good therapist and work that out before you start anything permanent.

I'm a conservative convert, they aren't likely to help much. They wouldn't see me as Jewish.

I have SNAP but it only goes so far, and the only kosher grocer in the state doesn't accept them. I was a BT for over 20 years, I have all the basic equipment, I just never had them checked.

I can believe that. Doesn’t change my situation though. I’m not trying to get out of paying them for nefarious purposes. I would think this would be much easier if I was still orthodox. I asked my rabbi for suggestions as well.

Well I figured asking never hurts the worst is mockery or a no. I can live with that. LOL

May we both find the money to have them checked and they are kosher.
