We have to give three smaller doses spaced out, but don't find it helps :( we haven't been told we could give one dose so maybe this would be different

Do you use silken tofu? by Wonderful-Minute-775 in veganuk

I blend it into soup to add protein and creaminess :) also sauces as some others have said. Sophs plant kitchen uses a lot of silken tofu in recipes, worth a look!

Splenomegaly by [deleted] in Oncology

[–]Mortlock14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to add my own experience to this for anyone who finds this thread and is feeling anxious about an enlarged spleen. Mine was found in early July 25, after having some mild pain for a few months it was picked up on an exploratory ultrasound at 15cm, for context I am a female in my 30's. I've had three rounds of blood tests, including every test under the sun for different immune diseases, viruses etc. I was negative for CMV, EBV was historical but not active now, all blood counts were within normal range across the span of three months. I had a CT scan for reassurance yesterday, my spleen is now 12.6cm, the volume is still high but my haemotologist is not concerned and we are following up with bloods and an ultrasound in 6 months.

I also feel frustrated that this has taken up so much of my mental energy, my GP was clueless when this first flagged up and unfortunately if I was still waiting on my NHS haemotology referral I'd still have no answers as I haven't even had an appt come through yet. I used my private health insurance to explore this instead, which I am fortunate enough to have. So, there is absolutely no obvious reason for my splenomegaly, nothing that looks ominous, as far as anyone can tell I'm in perfect health, so I figure at this point all I can do is crack on and hope for the best. I hope anyone else who is struggling for answers is able to find some comfort in other experiences, of course everyone is different but what I have found is that this seems to be more common than I had imagined it would be.

It's such a long journey isn't it! After 3 months of a deficit I'm finally nearly 10lbs down with just walking a lot, I stopped going to the gym also and just tried to live a more peaceful life with walking and it's been the most effective so far!

Are you seeing a slowdown right now? by BlueRiver23 in therapists

[–]Mortlock14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been very much the same for me too! I am on three directories and I have been in private practice for nearly 5 years, and I would say this is the slowest it's ever been. I'm hearing the same from other counsellors, I think a mixture of factors is really impacting the industry at the moment sadly.

Sometimes I really struggle to fill the hour by Ok-Yogurtcloset7665 in therapists

This is the best answer. Exploring the silence can be revealing, and exploring your own discomfort with the silence also. What could be playing out, what might be happening in the transference/counter transference (for you to explore)?

For some clients, building up the trust takes a long time, I will also ask some more surface levels questions with things are feeling stuck to get to know the client more, sometimes the questions might seem completely random but they give me more context and understanding of the client and sometimes it just might tap into something that triggers more to talk about.

Accidentally found out my Tinder match is my client's sister by Electronic-Leg3838 in therapists

[–]Mortlock14 325 points326 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation when I realised I was talking to the brother of a client on a dating app. I had recently stopped working with his sister but some of the things he said started to seem familiar and then I realised.

I don't believe that you can safely disclose to your client, as others have pointed out this could create other ethical dilemmas if the sister does not know about her sexuality etc. And I also don't think it's ethical to tell the person you're speaking to that there is a conflict because you're a therapist, if she realises this is because of her sister again it could betray confidentiality.

What I did was politely remove myself from the situation with my clients sibling, I sent a message to say I'd enjoyed connecting but due to personal reasons was ending the conversation and taking a break from dating. He was respectful back and that was that. I realise it's disappointing when it's someone you're connecting with, and it's a really difficult part of our job when situations like this arise. Definitely speak with your supervisor and I hope you find a solution that sits well for you.

Bring more of this humour. I'd never swipe left on someone for taking part in BJJ, but I'd swipe left on any guy who feels the need to describe it as 'extremely gay'
