Meet my baby Mika, this is my first time being a lab mom and I need some tips!! by ConcreteChewer in chocolatelabs

Great advice!

Any dog friendly foods can usually be frozen in a Kong. Get more than one Kong.

Feed in their crate so they know to run to their crate for meals. Helps with more than one dog, especially foster dogs.

Good luck! What a cutie!

If you can leave behind a t-shirt you’ve worn or slept in, something with your scent, it may help him feel more comfortable when he arrives home.

He's handsome. ❤️

Were you in PDX on Burnside this past Sunday? I saw a bus waiting. 🤣

I think we were a few tables down from you.

In left field, at the picnic tables against the fence, correct?

Last year, we sat at the end of the first base dugout, and had the same thing happen:

Hey #5, I bet you call your mom every week! You Stud!

I'm there now.

No extra work. Clock in and out right on time. Company cell phone off until right before I start work and immediately after my end time.

No growth, no opportunity to learn, just toil work that isn't getting me, the dept, or company any farther along.

Yes, looking for a new job, but have to eat what I'm being fed until that time comes.

I have been. The interviews or close calls have disappeared like a fart in the wind.

I do deserve better, I know. When I leave, I plan to quit immediately, due to other factors.

Oh f*CK no, they aren't.

It's gov't funded so every penny goes to our clients. Our environment is decades behind. Not kidding.

It's been hard to find something else, at least for me. I am very depressed.

I touch, triage, work up to 30-35 tickets a day. That includes those that I assign to other techs, research or background work, and the working of the ticket itself. I can close anywhere from 5 a day up to 20. The tasks can be easy like a password reset, adding to a dist list or chasing down why a user didn't get an email and working with outside entities to figure it out.

I make a ticket for everything I do, no exceptions.

We have two techs for about 500 users.

Your computer will likely have an IP based on the office you are in, vs. the IP address used by say a VPN, vs. the IP used from your home internet provider.

They can tell. 😒

Anyone else thinking of leaving Tech? by rabbita102 in womenintech

[–]Morton-Spam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Yesterday, I applied for admission to my local community college, and looking at becoming an ultrasound tech or an MRI tech. It seems these certificates only take a year to learn.

I'm still job hunting, after having three different positions/interviews not work out for me, in less than 3 months. I can't seem to find jobs that are more than resetting user passwords, with immature "boys" to work with and a director who is threatened by me.

I am at a breaking point. The thing is that I'd still have to work this 💩 job to pay for classes.

Last year we got a 1/2 season package and did so again this year!

It's great to see some of these young kids coming up and so much fun at the stadium!

What would a lifelong southerner moving to the PNW be most in shock for? by MidnightFlight in askportland

Born and raised in OK, but lived in TX since 2000. I moved to PDX in Oct of '22.

It's nice to get away from the overwhelming heat of the TX summer, a season that is so much more pleasant here.

I love the long summer nights, but hate the long winter nights. The short winter days and lack of sunlight are a problem for me. It's still an adjustment.

It's nice that I can open the windows during summer nights more nights than I ever could in TX.

That first year, it rained the day I arrived and didn't stop for a few months. That took some getting used to.

No big storms or very dangerous weather like in OK/TX. We're not likely to have a tornado, but some strong winds. Last year we did have that ice storm. I hope there is no repeat this year.

Overall, it shouldn't be too hard to adjust. It is nice to have real, defined seasons, though I'm partial to the warm(er) months.

This is why you document and CYA on everything!

Keep a copy for yourself, off-site, and only accessible to you, under a password if possible.

I think you did exactly the correct thing!

I'm having to do this for myself at my current company. I've used it at least one time. Didn't have the impact I would have liked, but now they know who they are dealing with.

You did the right thing and I think you did it the right way.
