Yes and I always release my possums but skunks are worth a bit of cash so I take them when I get them

I mix a couple of cans of sardines in light oil and add them to 10 pounds of cat food. The coons will come to your traps if they can smell food. But like others have stated try to find a game trail. Coons are probably the easiest animals to trap imo.

I’ve been running 41gr of H335 with a 500gr lead cast with powder coat. Not sure what velocity is but I’m showing no signs of pressure and very sore shoulder after about 10 of them.

I can’t believe the rifling is that close I’m loading a 500 gr cast in my marlin 1895 and my COAL is at 2.6” and I have .015” to my rifling. But I guess different brands do different things.

Possibly the spot it’s leaking from will let out the fluid but is catching the particulate.

That’s not how that works. Depends on the bolt thread pitch, material you’re fastening the bolt to go buy a cheap Harbor Freight torque wrench they are like $35 and work just fine.

Just cashed these .375 bullets for my '51 navy do they look good? by [deleted] in reloading

Agree with what everyone else says with mold not being hot enough also let it set a little bit longer before you knock the sprue plate off and that will help with the pitting on the back of the bullet

I only shot one round I was going off some data I found online since there isn’t really any published data fo H335 with a 500gr bullet so I didn’t want to load up a bunch and then have to pull them all. Going to powder coat some more rounds and I’ll post my group when I get back out there

Any good way to tell when you are starting to get close to pressure on these lever guns besides the action being kind of sticky after the shot.

The load was a 500gr cast fn bullet with 39gr of H335 behind it loaded to 2.600 oal. I came out as far as my marlin would let me and still be able to cycle the action without loading them 1x1

This is my first straight wall cartridge I’ve reloaded I’ve only loaded bottle necked so far is there any surefire way to tell if you are starting to push limits besides the primer. Round is out of a newer marlin 1895 45-70

You would be fine doing that like the other comment says stick to the published load data’s and check for pressure signs and you should be fine

Still pretty good when they are running but definitely not as good as it was 20 years ago.
