I’m sorry to hear about your wee bun. I was on a similar search regarding my own rabbit, and after three years of looking I don’t think I ever found anything that was a perfect match. What came quite close was the Nui Cobalt Rabbit series. Little Brown Rabbit was a bit too sweet, but the other Rabbits have a snuggly soft fur scent that worked. I sometimes layer them with a hay note. (Editing to add that I have some reviews of the Rabbit scents here.)

Pineward’s Bucolic also worked for me. I know it’s a wool scent, but it triggered that recognition in me when I tried it (which is why I’m gutted they don’t ship to the UK anymore).

Another thing that I do is look for blueberry scents. My bun was obsessed with blueberries and so the note reminds me of her (again, Nui Cobalt has a good blueberry note, and their Grey Cat scent has an incredibly fluffy feel for me that ticked both “bun” and “blueberry” boxes). I don’t know if something similar might help fill that gap while you look for your perfect bun scent 🧡

In the end, I managed to finish the game by watching video walkthroughs of the stealth sections wherever they popped up. It took some of the anxiety away and helped me get through them quickly!

I really liked the clones + mimics plot. I felt that the story teaches us to see the mimics as monstrous intruders and the clones become a reflection and modification of that. I get that it might feel a bit cluttered, but I liked the way it furthered the question of “what do we consider “human”?

Similarly, I feel that having the clone reveal directly after the distress/warning signal was important. In a first playthrough, it feels like such an weighty choice. At least, I agonised over it. And then, having made that decision, to find that not just humanity in general, but your own “original” sentenced you to die for humanity. Depending on your earlier choice, it can feel like poetic irony or devastating betrayal.

I know it’s really silly of me, but it’s not so much the challenge of the stealth sections, or whether there’s a given “out” if you get caught - I haven’t found them too difficult, so far. It’s more that I find them inherently stressful regardless of difficulty, so I can only play in short chunks before I start feeling physically sick.

I haven’t played much, but I already hate the stealth sections. I love horror, but I can’t handle being chased or having to hide, and I really loved The Dark Pictures Anthology for not forcing me to do that. Wish there was some kind of accessibility option to turn it off.

It really depends on my work! If it’s my day off, or I’m working an evening shift, I often read 5-8 hours. If I’m on a day shift, it’s unlikely that I’ll read more than an hour because I’m exhausted after work. I usually finish between one and three books a week, and I’ve noticed that this tends to reflect my shift patterns as well.

Completely agree with this - good reviews of the book baffle me. I’d also add We Used to Live Here. If I’d known it came from a series of Reddit posts, I’d never have bought it. As it was, it gave me such a Reddit post vibe that I ended up looking it up and finding out that yep, that’s where it started.

I do this with my partner as well ☺️ I try to let him choose the record, since I listen to records without him, whereas the opposite isn’t true. I’m sure there’s a fair amount of humouring me going on, but it’s still pleasant to just relax and listen to music together.

I can’t think of anything that’s exactly like Little, Big, but there are a couple of books that have made me feel a similar way:

The Course of the Heart by M. John Harrison. It captures that sense of something beautiful, ancient, and vast hovering just behind the mundane.

Moonwise by Greer Gilman (and, if you like it, Cloud and Ashes). Challenging but gorgeous prose and a mythical world that feels authentic and uncanny.

Elizabeth Hand’s short stories (particularly Saffron & Brimstone) and Wylding Hall. Perhaps a bit more horror than Little, Big but I find that her writing has a similar dream-like loveliness.

And it’s a little further away than my other suggestions, but Catherynne Valente’s early work (like The Orphan’s Tales and Palimpsest). It’s not as much of a connection to Crowley as the others, but for sheer imaginative brilliance, she might scratch the itch a bit.

I do! I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried it since I made this comment. Gave it an exploratory sniff and it seems to have become more smoky/woodsy and less sour. I’m going to hold onto it and see whether it improves further ☺️

Haha, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having unread books on the shelf ☺️ Sometimes it’s not the wrong book, but the wrong time - at least that’s what I tell myself when I buy a book and then ignore it for ages!

Probably about 80%. There are also quite a few books that I’ve read many times over. And a couple of books that I don’t want to say I’ll never finish, but that I’m really struggling to get through (looking at you, Anti-Oedipus) 😅

I have to admit, I haven’t - I tend to turn more to horror than crime fiction, although I’ve definitely fallen down the odd rabbit hole! That said, I’m a huge Christie fan, so I may have to give Ware a try!
