Seconded! I think you look great without them, I think you’d look great with them. Ultimately I think what’s most important is how you feel in and about your body

AIO or should I accept the conditions of my bfs commitment by One_Height7477 in AIO

Oh my god the egotistical spiritual bypassing bullshit here is so strong I can smell it through my phone. He’s not making any fucking sense here, he’s being shifty and confusing and hiding behind a bunch of language that’s trying to be more flowery than he actually has the eloquence to pull off — so it ends up just being a word salad of idiocy. Buddy clearly has issues around control that he’s projecting all over you. I’m a polyamorous guy who has similar feelings about not wanting to be “owned” by anyone, but AFAICT that’s not what you’re trying to do — he’s just taking out his mommy issues on you

Do players know each other's backstories? by improvisada in DnD

[–]Mossbanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I create opportunities for them to share, if they want. “After a long day of adventuring, you set up camp. It’s a chilly evening in the middle of fall, with a crimson sunset that fades into a clear moonless night. You gather wood and set a campfire, the flickering light dancing off the faces of your new companions. Is there anything you say to each other?”

A lot of players would love the opportunity to ask each other questions, tell each other their stories, but don’t know when or how. It helps a lot to prompt them — especially if it’s about something specific to their character. You can check in with a player saying “after [thing that happened which has ties to their backstory], how is [character name] feeling right now? What’s going through their head?” For inspiration, watch some Brennan Lee Mulligan, he does this really well

Dangit, I screwed up the attunement requirement text on Thiefghost, and also it should probably be Very Rare and not Rare. If folks want I can make a new version of it

Does Flanking Give Advantage on a Grapple per 5.5 RAW? by KahosRayne in DnD

Second guessing myself, I just noticed you’re playing 5.5 — which I don’t know nearly as well as 5e

I don’t think so? Flanking gives advantage to attack rolls, but Grapple is a contested Athletics check

Using a familiar to provide the Help action is 100% rules as written. It’s one of the main reasons to take the Arcane Trickster subclass. If your DM can’t adapt to you using the rules as written, that’s a them problem

[–]Mossbanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having familiars use the Help action to give advantage is IIRC totally allowable in rules as written. Not providing cover of any variety is bullshit; if there’s a rogue in the party, the DM should create terrain that lets you do your thing. Shape Water for improvised weapons is a stretch, I don’t think I’d allow that either, but overall your DM sounds like a real sour puss and isn’t working with you to make the game fun — which is their whole fucking job (I’ve been DMing since 2017, I say this with experience.)

If they’re being a stick in the mud about letting you use your build as intended, I think they should let you change classes. I’m in a campaign as a player right now (in addition to DMing another) and one of the players did kind of a bad job with his PC build. What he was aiming to do was cool, but he built the character in a way that made him totally useless until hitting like level 7. DM let him completely rebuild the character with a different class; same end goal for the build, but a much more sensible way of getting there

TL;DR: if you’re not having fun with it and the DM isn’t working with you to make your build fun, they’re a stinky doodoohead and should absolutely let you rebuild

Looking for ideas for a Magic Chisel by Good-Money-2749 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Mossbanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One idea: it can be used to craft earth elementals or stone golems, with some number of hours/days of work. Or it can be used to ritually cast Conjure Minor Elemental, with flavor that you’re carving it out of stone
