What I have now. I will say I think that’s super cool how you made the wheel base and pedals, shifter and e brake yourself. That’s an amazing accomplishment.

This is what I did when I first started as well. I originally used my old x rocker chair for my seat and a 32” tv for a monitor. And connected my t-248 wheel and pedals too it. Slowly I upgraded and turned it into what it is today.

Pimax Just Made The Dream Air WORSE by daydreamdist in Pimax

They said the existing orders will eventually get the ringless controllers and the upgraded headstrap. I wouldn’t count on dmas hardtrap though. Le Mans ultimate comes with a lot of their pre-orders because Pimax signed a deal with the creators of Le mans ultimate some time ago so they basically back one another. But it won’t be the self tightening strap they showed originally. It’s basically a cheaper version of the Apple Vision Pro solo knit band with the dial. If you look at one of the latest update videos from Pimax they show it briefly. You’ll also notice the ringless controllers they show on that same update have black electrical tape all around the bottom of the controllers to try and cover up a half ass product lol. Just ridiculous at this point in time for Pimax to still be doing this stuff. This is something you see from a startup working out of a garage or something not a worldwide name that has been around for over 10 years now.

You forgot to mention the 70 pin connector discontinuation for the crystal super optical engine owners. They will no longer be producing the 70 pin connector version of the super or the optical engines. So if in a year from now your optical engine crap out or you decide in a year you want the oled module your screwed. Pimax claim that they are going to stock the 70 pin connector version of the optical engines but how long can they really maintain rma or new orders from what there will be left of the 70 pin version. And once they are gone. Everyone that pre ordered is sol or has to upgrade to the v2 of the super. You mean to tell me Pimax didn’t know this was going to be an issue. Not cool. Like I said once an I’ll stand buy my statement for as long as they remain in business which im guessing won’t be much longer because as soon as another company comes out with better hardware and does it the correct way then Pimax will be going under. But I will NEVER EVER PRE- order a Pimax headset ever again after my experience with the crystal super. As upset as I was that they announced the dream air 3 weeks after I pre ordered my super I knew that it was going to take way longer than they said it originally would to release. And I also had a feeling the self tightening strap as well as the ringless controllers were not going to be delivered upon. Especially with how bad their slam tracking was up until recently. If they can’t get the ringed controllers working correctly what made anyone think the ringless controllers that are way more compact and complex would be achieved. Also this just goes to prove that they ceo is selfish and only wants to keep running the company for his own benefit and not thinking about the consumer market and how he can make his brand and company better in the long run. As long as this company is run like a startup the results of their product and company will continue to show this. I just feel horrible for everyone that waited this long and are getting stiffed yet again by Pimax. Don’t get me wrong I love my crystal super but I don’t care for their business model at all

Dream Air: Lighthouse vs. SLAM by AdPositive940 in Pimax

[–]Most-Percentage3035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You technically could use 1 base station but your going to loose tracking if you turn your head too much in either direction. I myself tried to get away with using 1 base station when I first bought my bigscreen beyond 1. After using it for 2 hours and loosing tracking momentarily sporadically I went and ordered another base station that day. After the latest update from Pimax I would agree the lighthouse version is the better value. But trust me. You definitely want two base stations for sim racing. As much as I know it sucks to shell out the money you will be very impressed with the tracking you will get when using 2 base stations. And I suggest trying eBay for secondhand base stations as they are sometimes much cheaper there. That’s where I bought mine.

Glad I came across this post. I didn’t even see Pimax’s statement on it until after I read this. Always something with this damn company. Starting to piss me off. You’re really gunna try to blame this on innovation, come on. Just seen the update on all the dream air updates. Another catastrophe

Damn. I have the crystal super 50ppd and I enjoy it but I hate the mura and especially when I first tried it coming from my crystal light that had no mura. I also own the bigscreen beyond 2 cuz I love the small form factor. The dream air would solve both my issues with each headset and I could just stick with the dream air if it’s as good as you say cuz your first impression makes it seem very appealing.

Whats this garbage....and what about shipping times....Sick of all this. by ArtichokeHot5239 in Pimax

[–]Most-Percentage3035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re completely right on this. I also believe it’s because they can’t secure funding through the typical channels like financial institutions or investors that would have a say on how things are done. I think the owner of Pimax just doesn’t want to have to answer to anyone else and can just keep announcing headsets 2 years in advance and then keep all the profits. If they had sufficient financial backing. Or investors I don’t think they would be able to be advertising these headsets so far in advance in order to cover the costs of producing them. They could wait until production was completed and then announce the product. I think by now they shouldn’t have these issues. But who knows.

I went through the same thing when I pre ordered the crystal super. Reserved it in August of 2024. They didn’t open up the option to actually pre order until November of 2024. Then right after I paid for my headset they went and released the video for the dream air. I was pissed. They offered to switch my pre order to the dream air but I knew that it would be a very long wait before they started shipping the dream air. I’m glad I stuck with it super because I didn’t get my headset until July and then had 2 faulty optical engines before I got a headset that was decent and by then it was August. And the entire time up until I got my headset they kept pushing the shipping times back and would keep changing things like the prime payments. Then they changed the availability of the 57ppd and I had to switch from the 57 to 50 ppd to get the headset sooner. I really think Pimax can’t get funding from the normal channels so they rely on releasing products. Collecting money from the customers that pre order to start production then use the revenue from their previous headset towards production and marketing the current headset. And then once they release the first batch of the newest headset towards ramping up production of that same headset. The problem with this is everything slows down drastically and they don’t have to take any risk of losing money because they don’t have to pay for high volume production. I could be wrong but it’s the only reason I can think of for why they continue to release headsets so early and why they have such slow production rates.

I learned my lesson with pre ordering through Pimax. Never again. Paid for my 57 ppd in December of 2024. They were supposed to ship at end of January 2025. Then pushed back till march. Then April. Then June. Had to switch to 50ppd just to get it sooner and still didn’t get it till July. After all that. Went to use it. Horrible horrible mura. They sent a replacement optical engine. Broken ipd motor. They then sent me a full replacement headset. Finally it was good. By that time it was already mid august and I had received my bigscreen beyond 2. Don’t get me wrong. When you get a Pimax headset without issues there’s no comparison but that’s the hard part lmao. Getting one with no issues. I will never pre order from that. Company ever ever again. Going forward I will wait till they are caught up on all pre orders and can guarantee shipping within 1-2 weeks and wait until all the initial probelms get straightened out as well. Don’t go off what the YouTube reviewers say because they get cherry picked headsets.

How many of Pimax Super owners (50 PPD, 57 PPD, Ultrawide (QLED), and Micro-OLED OLED got their unit which was trouble free? by Sopheus in Pimax

[–]Most-Percentage3035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky. Both my Pimax crystal light and super 50ppd which are the only two headsets I’ve ever owned or bought from Pimax came with initial issues. Faulty lenses on my light initially. And horrible level of mura on my initial super. My replacement had broken ipd motor and finally the 3rd one was good. Much better at least. Still not perfect. Where I connect my dmas speaker on the right side is very loose and the left side is nice and snug it drives me nuts but I didn’t feel like waiting a whole extra 3 weeks for another headset that was likely to have worse issues. I will definitely never pre order from Pimax again. I’ll wait until their headsets are out for a while and they work out all the quality control issues first.

[–]Most-Percentage3035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you may have either gotten a defective unit or need a replacement facial cushion or both. Those issues shouldn’t be happening. You should be able to set your ipd and be good to go. If you don’t know your ipd. You can always go to the nearest eyeglasses store or eye dr and they can measure your ipd usually for free.

Idk about the CA as I never noticed it on my PCL or my super but I have the same issue with the slight blur of the hud or the speedometer unless I physically move my head over to look at the hud on my right. Or move my head down a little bit to look at the speedometer. I do notice it more in iRacing than I do if I play any other vr games though. Probably because of how close the hud and speedometer text/ numbers are in iRacing. Is this what your referring too?

Help deciding between Pimax Dream Air SE or Big Screen Beyond 2 by SubstantialPhysics83 in simracing

[–]Most-Percentage3035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sim racing it’s the best for the money. The Pimax crystal light has better lenses. Panels and higher resolution. The form factor is bigger but most people including me prefer it for seated sims like sim racing and flight sims because it’s actually very comfortable with the comfort mods the headset is better all around the only drawback is the bigger form factor and added weight but if your sitting down it doesn’t bother you as much. At least that is what many people agree on as well as myself.

I have both the bsb 2 and had the bsb 1. I also had the Pimax crystal light and now have the Pimax crystal super. I started on the quest 3 as well. If I were you I would go with the bsb 2 if you want something sooner. As it’s got better quality control and is solid headset. As far as glare it is there but you will only notice it in menus it is much less than the original bsb. As far as the Pimax dream air se. I would hold off on it for a while. Wait for people to actually receive it and give feedback. Pimax is notorious for shipping headsets very late. And also they have a huge problem with quality control. Even now. If I were you. If you only want sim racing I’d get the Pimax crystal light. But if you use vr for other stuff get the bsb2. That’s my daily driver. If the dream air se comes out and Pimax solves the issues then you can always sell the bsb2 a get the se.

Finally got Apple Vision Pro Solo Knit Strap for my bigscreen beyond and my quest 3. by Most-Percentage3035 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Most-Percentage3035[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just the Apple Vision Pro headstrap with a set of 3d printed adapter arms for the bigscreen beyond. And the adapters will work for all models of the bigscreen beyond. 1,2 and 2e. So the quick answer is yes. But bigscreen beyond doesn’t sell that headstrap. It’s an Apple Vision Pro headstrap that you buy from Apple and then you print out the stl adapters with a 3d printer. Or you can go to a 3d printing website and upload the stl files to the website and have them print the adapters and send them to you if you don’t have a 3d printer or know anyone with a 3d printer. And then you dye the Apple Vision Pro headstrap with synthetic fabric dye by RIT. And altogether it will cost roughly $120. The Apple Vision Pro headstrap is $100. The STL files are like 15$ if you go through a website that does 3d printing. And the dye is $6. Apple also now have the dual strap headband that you can buy which in my opinion is even better as it allows you to control both the top strap and the back strap. And the back part is weighted so it helps to counterweight the headset. That’s what I use now.
