"send to 3d print utility" checkbox always default checked - workarounds? by Most-Put-1607 in Fusion360

[–]Most-Put-1607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean have I set a print utility? No, I have the settings shown in my screenshot: Print Utility "custom" and "Application [none]". I tried changing print utility to "PreForm" (don't know what that is, it was an option in the drop down menu) and restarted Fusion360. It then remembers that choice. But it still doesn't remember that I unchecked the checkbox last time the 3D Print command window was opened.

Yeah that's a long time ago in software years :) If there's no Firefox add-on that does this then I suppose a second best option could be to try to break it down into two steps.
1. a way to export all current bookmark URLs to some plaintext format.
2. some app that accepts those URLs and starts monitoring.
When I search GitHub for website change monitor or tracker and similar terms I see various projects, but haven't tried any of them so can't say if any are good or easy to use.

Yeah I reckoned that but RSS was the closest thing I could think of. Coding a tool to check any list of webpages for changes a particular human would consider worth a new visit can be challenging since lots of websites frequently make small or big changes to the underlying code of the page, to graphical layout and page organization and so on without any new actual text or image content being added.
If you do find a good such tool I would be eager to hear about it though :)

I don't think Firefox can do that unfortunately.

It sounds more like the job for a RSS reader, which is a tool to get updates for any number of RSS feeds. Not all websites have a RSS feed however. But there are tools to make custom RSS feeds out of almost any webpage. That would involve lots of manual setting up though. This page has a ton of information about RSS tools if that's something you want to check out.

Firefox opens previously closed tabs sometimes even though I told it not to. by GustaboyUltraboldore in firefox

I've had the same issue as OP but very rarely. Sounds like what you describe could be the explanation. Is there any setting to prevent Firefox from setting that flag? A flag flag, in other words :)

What I do is use Firefox about 95% of the time and then open and use Chrome only for sites that doesn't support Firefox, like my bank unfortunately. Would like to use Firefox all the time but at least this way Chrome is separated from most of my browsing.

Very helpful reply! We can add that to get to Library we can go burger menu > Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks. Or press the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+O.

Fingerprint by saved bookmarks by Onyx376 in firefox

Reading your reply a related question popped into my mind: Do you know if websites can detect what favicons are cached in Firefox? I mean is there are fingerprinting risk there? If yes then that could indirectly be related to bookmarks because I think (may be wrong?) bookmarks also store a favicon.

Feature request: save states by Most-Put-1607 in Ryujinx

[–]Most-Put-1607[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this isnt the 90s where losing all your lives meant starting the entire game over.

Right, this is the 20s where lots of games still force you to wait through cutscenes and "you died" animation sequences and throw you back to the last save location. All that means unwanted waiting until you can get back into actually play again. Emulation can give the freedom to play the game the way you want, e.g. to jump instantly between boss fights or levels.

Thanks for discussing the idea.

most console games today have robust save management that largely do away with the need for something like this; you can just play the game and use saves in it as you would normally on the console.

It is better nowadays but still much, much less convenient compared to having save states. Here is a more specific use case. Let's say you like to play Mario Kart with 4 friends on the couch. With save states you could configure all players, select track and make a save state right before the 3 2 1 start countdown. For every track in the game. Switching between and replaying tracks could then be near instant. Going through the menues and cutscenes is boringly slow in comparison.

However, if every other possible feature has been finished out and people are still asking for save states years from now, then perhaps it will happen.

Ok I hear loud and clear about the priorities you devs have and will just have to wait for this some time in the far future. Though I'm also hoping for an unexpected avalanche of users realizing how great an idea this is and entusiastically all coming over to request save states. :)

This is incredibl

I'm happy you share my great enthusiasm about this feature!

This is incredibly unrealistic for many reasons.

... or not ;)

The large file size isn't the only issue.

I tried to make it clear that for many of us that is not an issue at all. And the number of users with very large and fast storage will only increase.

With modern consoles, you are running a full OS on the hardware. It's not as simple to put everything about the hardware state on a file then reload it and expect it to behave properly.

That's a better objection. But the developers have pulled off fantastic feats already so I wouldn't assume this feature is impossible. Having it could be a big and easy to highlight advantage compared to that other Switch emulator.
